Ski-Doo Vs. Arctic Cat Vs. Polaris?

Looking for opinoins on the diffrent manufactures, pors and cons of Ski-Doo's 800 XP or Rev, the Artic Cat M8, and Polaris Dragon 800 2008 and old models for all. If any one has had the opportunity to compare any of these and what they prefer? I will primarily be mountain riding. All of my buddies have Ski-Doo's and seem to like them, I don't wont to get one just because thats what everyone ells is ridding though. Thanks.

Well where do you start LOL? If your friends ride skidoo I would buy one of them just for the support if something goes wrong they will most likely be able to help you. The M8's are rock solid motors but I hear diamond drives are not mans best friend. As for the dragons I wouldn't touch one of those from what I have read about the 800's go down all the time but the 700's where better. Skidoo's rev were desent sleds and 08 xp's had some minor problems with cranks so I guess it's completely up to the person buying the ticking time bomb as to which to buy LOL.... Sledding expensive to be in that's why I bought new finally, won't be my dime fixing this sled for at least another 3 years!!!

Unless your going to pump alot of money into a polaris Dragon 800, I would stick with the XP 800 08 that was the best sled for those yrs. and Im a polaris guy all the way, stock to stock they win!!! Just my opinion..

08' xp was a first year problem sled and handled poorly on the side hills and trees. This is just not my opinion, read any old sled mag for that year and see what their test riders thought. M8 was the most dependable sled in that year but the engine needed a few mods to get the power up to match the doo 800. 800 poo was a kick in the shorts for anyone that bought one!

more like a small explosion between their legs, whatever tickles your fancy.

I don't know where your located but there is a really nice 2007 skidoo 800 with a fresh Big John motor in it and only a 1000 miles on the whole sled for $3800 in the classifeds for sale right now. If I was closer to Logan UT I would already own the thing.

I had a 2008 xp and my buddy had a 2008 dragon 800 and another had an 2007 M8. I'v road all of them and for climbing the xp stomps all of them. I had my recalls done on my xp and never had a problem with it for the 3 seasons I ran it. My buddies 2008 dragon went through top ends like crazy just a really bad motor from polaris that year. The M8 was nice I felt more at home on the xp the M8 was to laid back feeling, I like the rider forward of the xp. I don't know where the bad sidehilling reviews of the xp came from could sidehill and poke through the trees no problem with the sled. 2008 was ski-doos year Id look for an xp x model add a can, skid plate, and good clutch kit then ride.

From my experience, I'd rather an 07 Rev with an updated motor over an 08 XP all day long. Easier sled to ride and needs less mods to ride well than an early XP. A sled like what Cubby mentioned would be a great buy IMO.....and will still give 2012/2013 iron a hard time in many conditions. Gotta have the newer motor though....I can't imagine there are a lot of original 2007 motors still intact, as most piled up the rod bearings.

M8's were slugs with awful suspensions until 2010. Dragons rode well if you can find one that's had the motor re-done by someone reputable. XP's rode like complete crap until 2011ish when they started getting better. Some guys think they're great, but there aren't 1000 threads on how to improve crappy XP handling characteristics for no reason. Same as Dragon top-ends....some work great, but again, the stereotype is there for a reason.

Just one mans opinion.

Look into the 08 700 dragons from Polaris every thing a dragon has with out the motor problems plus mine hangs with most 800s from the same models year unless its crazy deep or crazy steep. Good luck
