Silber vs Aero..

2011 Big Boost Turbo will be at the show in SLC on the 22nd and 23rd

MTNTK's Big Boost Turbo is back for this year but not only do they have a turbo for the 08-2010 dragons they have a turbo for the 2011 Pro RMK as well as the M8 and the 600 and 700 RMK's

Big Boost turbo uses The Aero and is the original Bolt on turbo no cutting or welding using stock pipes and you can return your sled back to stock, retaining the cost of the turbo and put it with your next sled.

Their turbo kit looks a lot cleaner than other kits. Sure the other kits are trying to make a bolt on, but MTNTK was the first to start advertising, and have a better handle on how to make it look good. They are holding out until the snow show in one week to reveal it in Salt Lake. We have seen the prototypes and your not going to believe how great it is. Plus if you compare to the other kits there is really nothing close when you figure in the facts: True cold air intake (not a sock inside the engine compartment), true bolt on and can go back to stock, Ceramic and zinc coated parts (very shiny bling bling!), easier to understand Attitude fuel controller, balanced weight distribution, and on and on, plus a full set of instructions and owners manual, and all the gauges and other items necassary for a complete install. They don't make it so you have to go and buy a bunch of tools, or recruite a local genuis to clutch or tune it. Just wait the pictures will be up of the kit as soon as they reveal it at the snow show.

As to the Aero advantages, it doesn't require an oil tank (or frequent oil level checking either), no waste gate (it has variable vane nozzle geometry which contributes to positive delta), Positive delta ( which means that the turbo is capable of generating more boost than exhaust pressure, read less leaks and more power!). Some have said it is a fragile turbo, but we have never had a failure since the 66 series was available. The 53 series was just a little too small for the 800cc engines and it would overheat the air and overspool damaging the compressor and bearings, but only because it was out of it's efficiency range. The 53 is still great on 700cc and less engines. The Aero is a no brainer if you want less maintence and faster spooling, it just works well. I hope that helps a little.

I am new to Polaris this year and now I am trying to figure out what turbo to put on the Pro?

I have been reading about the pro's on the Aero, but I am having a hard time justifying the cost difference between the Silber kit and Turbo Doc's

I am familar with the Garretts from my Nytros.

Can someone get me some more info on either kit and the pro's vs the con's
on these 2 kits?

Is the Aero worth 2 grand more?

What controls the vanes on your turbos?
 
What is the max efficiency of the 53 on an 800? Would it work on one for a low boost/ pump gas application? Would it make 8-9 lbs on an 800??
 
silber turbo pro r kit

I was lucky enough to ride one of silber turbos pro r kits and i can say they pull very hard and are redicusly responsive when you inttially crack the gas or get in and out of the gas in the trees there is a ton of r and d into these kits i have seen the sleds they are being rode to make sure they hold up. The kit is very clean also and very simple. for what u pay for and what u get compared to bondocker or areo charger silber is the way to go u have the machined billet boot, u also have complete bolt on with this kit there is no other turbo companys that match these two things let alone the price of the kit.

Personally I would get a kit from Silber, Customers do not complain about his kits!
A 155hp two stroke pegs the compressor map on a garrett gt2871 dam close center were it is most efficient (6 to 15 pounds boost). You can not find a turbo better suited for a 2-stroke. The Garrett map is also labeled with higher efficiency than the aerochargers map meaning it will make less heat. Keep in mind that the manufactures are supplying the compressor maps.

I do not buy into aeros marketing of being the most advanced. On a aero the bearings are not in the middle between the compressor and turbine were they should be but just on one end, it has to be this way to keep the oiling system and bearings cool. This is why balancing is so critical on the aeros and they cannot sustain higher boost levels. The garrett is just a much more robust turbo. Of coarse this is my own opinion, it make sense to me.
