Should I use Blue Marble Oil or switch from it...?

I just bought a 2006 M7 with 820 miles on it... The person I bought it from said he has only run Blue Marble oil through it, but I have heard a bunch of people say they don't like this brand. I don't really like the idea of changing the brand of oil that has been going through since its bad for seals and stuff, but what are your guy's opinions on this..? Mainly from what I have read it seems like everyone who has used only blue marble in their machines haven't had any issues, but everyone that switched from a different type to blue marble has had lots of problems. Soooo what do you guys think...?

no experience on the sleds, but a few yrs ago myself and a buddy where in Glammis on our cr500s. made the switch from spectro to BM. drained the gas etc.. both bikes seized. until then they smelt very strange..we where able to unstick them and ride some more, but something was weird??? we are not rookies and know how to mix fuel.. Needless to say we haven't tried again..
I know others have had good luck??

Haha ok... I have read tons of stuff about engines seizing after switching to blue marble. Thats really the only reason I don't want to switch it... But I did read a few about switching from blue marble and having it work fine... Hmmm....

And haha yeah 907RiDeR, water would work good, but I'd be expecting a tow back from up twins once I seize my engine lol. you probably wouldnt even get a chance to try it out... :P.

After running the AC APV oil, and having gummed up APV valves, and actually having to replace them from being stuck shut/ripped cable.......switched to BM for both of our Cats. Been running it for several years now, over 4000 miles on both sleds, no work done, no problems. :beer;

We are going to replace pistons this year just as a precautionary thing. Both engines still running strong though. :)

Myself and about a dozen others from home have been running BM for at least 4 years with no problems. A few of the people have even switched from brand x to BM with no problems.

Ran BM and burned down bad. I think it burns a little hotter than others. But it can be compensated for. I didn't have egts and learned my lesson. Red line seems to be recommended by the most aftermarket builders. I have run APV for 2000 miles and never had to clean PV, but I deleted my oil pump and mix 40:1 which i'm sure helps. You can suck the oil out and switch without problems.

Close to 8000 miles on 2 06 M7s, ran Blue Marble in both after running Cat APV the first year. Still running strong. New rings done as a precaution in mine around 6k miles, buddys is still original...dont know if its the oil or not but I bet it helps

Have NEVER had an engine go down because of the type of oil . Always been a pump or cable or gear or piston or rings etc that takes them out . Run anything that doesn't gum up the valves .

Oil

We work on a lot of sleds and when we pull them in the shop I can usually tell right off if you use APV of something else by the exhaust outlet and you A arms.If they are clean you use apv if its black something else. I have pulled power valves with over 3k and still clean I just find that APV is one of the cleanest. The thing I do not like about BM is it seams to make the inside of motor sticky with a film.

I am sure that their is a lot of good oils I personally would only run APV and if I could not get it I would run Klots.

Some interestin data

The Dominator (37.95/g) has more scuff protection but builds a bit on the power valves.

The Interceptor (32.49/g) is cleaner but lacks the scuff protection of its big brother.

The APV (42.95/g) is cleaner than either and has much better scuff protection than the Interceptor.

Blue marble (36.95/g) leaves power valves cleaner than any of the above mentioned and arguably the best scuff protection, however is gooey (for lack of better term), leaves everything with a waxy residue and seems to prone to allowing some degree of ring blow by.

Legend ZX2SR (??.??/g) Hands down the best we tested, in every category. except availability.

I've been using Blue Marble for 3 years now and on 2 different sleds.

I have a 2009 M8 HCR with 280 miles from last season and ran BM from day 1. I just installed an SLP Y-Pipe and Pipe/Can kit last week and had a good chance to check out the combustion chamber. The pistons looked great on the top and sides. No excess buildup on the top and no scuffs on the sides.

I'm very happy with it.

What I can say is that I use to use the Arctic Cat oils on my M7 and older 1M sleds. When I switched to Redline or Blue Marble oil my sleds ran a LOT better instantly. The throttle response was so crisp. It is one of the few times I've ever bought a product and could actually tell the difference.

I probably would have stayed with Redline had the dealers in the area still carried it. I switched to BM when that was what was available and have been very happy with it so far.

If an engine seizes or melts down then the oil type most likely wasn't the root cause of the problem. Yes, some oils might handle a tiny bit more heat before giving up the ghost but the overheating source most likely wasn't the friction. Provided there was enough oil being supplied to the area :-)

Ive ran APV from day one and my exhaust side a arm is black.........I am thinking about switching to Legend SR. I literally have not heard one bad thing about it. If I switched would i need to suck out all the APV?
