should i turbo a pro or an e-tec??? please help

Twisted, they build there kits to do what is needed and leave all the other stuff on the shelf. I would call them and ask, I have not seen a twisted pro so I can't say for sure, I just know what twisted does, they get reliable results, simple tuning and build a solid product. I have ran straight av in my m8 without problems, its a little slow on the bottom end but still works. It was more than I needed and found that at 10000ft I could run 12lbs on 4gal of av and the rest 91 with great results.

One thing I would make sure of is that who evers kit you run, if they are selling a 2860 turbo (like many do) you don't want it, you want a 2871 or 2876, better power and response.

twisted kit

so i just got off the phone (45 min conversation) with shane stanger, super nice guy by the way, and he gave me some great info on all the sleds and what is the best to turbo. cat is proven.... but,,, he figures he has all the bugs worked out of the poos and he figures there gonna last. if your running big boost the reads wont last very long. but im gonna be running low boost so i should be ok with the suspention and drivers and reads stock. he does not want to just ship his kits out, he perfers to install them himself with the customer there if possable. $7500 for everything you need installed. (2871 TURBO). thats more than i wanted to spend but im pretty sure ill be 100% happy with what i get in the end. soo now to go find a good low kms pro around the 10g mark.
THOUGHTS ANYONE???

maybe you should look for a pro that already has a twisted kit on it, might be cheap enough to save money for a suspension that will double the fun. Thats what I would do anyway.

turbo the pro before an etec but i am not saying the etec is bad to turbo cause once there dialed the run, at the tony grove shootout scotty tompsons aero charged turboed etec was lots faster than staingers m8 turbo he had up there it had horrible bottom end and was not tuned in very good, we had a pro in our group this year it ran ten lbs all year with 3 gallons of 112 with good 91 with 1400 trouble free miles and it ran perfect every ride it was a boondocker set up.

silber turbos

so i've also looked into the SILBER kits and they are alot cheaper and seem like there are alot of them out there. i also you-tubed silber turbo pro and it seems like there working great. this might be the way to go and save 3 grand. has any one herd good/bad things about the silber kits?:noidea:

i have a 2011 Cat HCR with pump gas that you will love for 11500.
I also have a 2011 Pro RMK with pump gas for 13000 that you will love.

PM me, cause they wont last long at those prices...

You can get a Silber kit for around $4200. Find a used Pro and do the new Silber kit. I think they will be the bees knees this year.

I rode with a guy last year who had a Silber kit on a Pro. Very clean install, seemed to run nice and crisp and he wasn't fiddling with it any more than the stockers. If I were buying a turbo for my pro, I would definetly check those kits out. Price seems reasonable to.

boondocker kits??????????

i had a guy call me today trying to sell me his 11 pro 153 with 1000 miles , with the boondocker kit and a bunch of goodies for $10000. i thought that was crazy cheap for all the stuff he had on it. but its a 153 so i told him i wasn't intrested. he was cool with that and kinda talked me into buying a boondocker kit. he wasn't tyring to sell me anything , he juat wanted to pass on some info. he said the reason he likes the boondocker kit is cause of the box and the altitude compinsator. he figures it is way more advanced than any other of the kits out there????? can anyone second this?????? ughh what kit should i buy??????????

When something sounds to good to be true...On the other hand, that's a great price if everything checks out. You could throw a long track on it, sell the old one, and have a kickazz sled for a great price.

Might look at those sleds Phatty is selling. With his reputation chances are those turbos were set up properly and rip.

I used a BD box on a mod sled for years and it worked fine, but I pretty much stuck to the basics and never looked at half of the functions. Most guys just don't have the skills to figure out how to use them to their full potential.

Take this for what it's worth. I don't have a lot of experience with sledding but this is what I did after asking the same questions you are. It was more important to me to have a lower maintanance set up than all out power. Also I really want a clean crisp throttle all the way off the bottom to red line. I bought a Silber turbo for a snowchecked 2012 Pro 163. The Silber had a ton of good referrals and runs an oil free turbo. So no oil tank, lines or mess. Also the Silber is a true bolt on kit. Very easy to return to stock if I don't like it 100% or have warranty issues to resolve. Silber has said his 2012 kit is even better on throttle response than the kit they sold last year and again that kit had great reviews from current users. This won't count for you but he just had a snow check deal that ended up being 20% off. Remember at the regular price of $4200 his kit includes clutching and gauges. That is a deal no one else can touch.

Forgot to mention I also have an ETEC. I don't think anyone has got that engine figured out enough that I want to turbo it. I'll wait a bit on that. My ETEC was ridiculously reliable. The worst thing it did all year was a couple of times it took 2 pulls to start. No sheet.

WHAT!!!! How in the world am I ever going to sell my T M8 when you are offering a deal like that? :faint:

As for this thread, personally I am turboing a pro for this season because the chassis is very appealing to me and with VOHK building my sled, I have 100% confidence in the Polaris. The BOONDOCKER pros that I rode last season ran very well and consistant once the 3d mapping was out. I love how quickly they spool up, and I feel this is the best setup for me. Sounds like the BOONDOCKER etec is going to run very well also, if you happen to like that chassis.

For 10g's I would be checking that sled out and making sure its not f'd up, and then learn everything there is to learn about the bd kit and go for it. You save enough money to risk a little. The bd kit can be made to work it is just overkill, (and I am sick of them selling products that need constant updates) all there sales points are less appealing when you watch someone like me ride all day without touching anything and it still rips.
