should i be scared to buy a polaris?

Running and not burning down are 2 different things. IMO Donovon went above and beyond trying to help me. I got a PCV and that is the next test.

The PCV and motor update really seemed to straighten things out. Sounds like some people still have issues. I was one of those people when my XP continually gave me problems. Not matter what I or the dealer did, we couldn't get that thing to stay together. I've had good luck with my 2010 D8 though.

Good to hear but not surprising. Donovan is the guy to go to for Polaris. He is certainly capable on other sleds but he has always rode Polaris for the most part. I am running his RMX kit. I don't have time on my sled yet (he did it this past summer) but my brother's sled flat out ripped with it. On the end of season ride, my brother was going past me like there was no tomorrow, he wasn't just creeping by, he was flat out flying by me and waving (maybe it was the bird?).

I'm going to try the RMX with the PCV as well, probably do an auto-tune but I am still looking for a base map.

just buy a 09 sled with a 600 motor and turbo it, problem solved. the 600 is bulletproof just my 2cents. plus you will out walk all the 800's

Well I take back what I said about the motor issue being fixed with update and a PCV. Pulled my Y pipe and my pistons are shot once again. Scored pretty bad again. that's motor #6 for me. Time for an 860 I think.....

my dad burt his 09 down at 200 miles they are burning down because of the mid range **** that goes on right after he got it back he put a pcv on it and hasent had a lick of probablems since

^ that's what I was pushing too up till now. But I have had a PCV for the full 800 miles that this motor has lived. And it still went down.

I wouldn't stress it as long as you got the manufacturer's warranty. If this is not possible, then just read and ask questions on this forum and you should be able to find any answer you would ever want about any sled. It is definitely a great resource. Good luck with your decision.

Buy the 2010 i did and i love it. Put 60 miles on it yesterday and had zero problems. 2010 800 Dragon 163 . My buddy that i went with has a 09 dragon 800 155 that has the slp stage 4 setup and runs great. My sled keeped up to allday long . I even was the first one over the top in acouple of pulls and mine is still pig fat on oil because of breakin. After one pull one of the other guys said well its broke in now. I would recommend getting the 2010.

Don't buy either of them. The electronics are junk, and even if you have a pc5 you can still burn themdown. My 2010 assault is sitting at 9000 ft this morning wating to be towed out along with my buddies 2009 800 rmk.My electronics took a crap on me yesterday, and he had 2 bolts on the exhaust valve sheer off in the motor.wtf.Also from what i heird the injectors in combination with the crap electronics makes a very unreliable sled.I also had a 2009 assault that had 5 motor rebuilds,2 stators,2 ecus and pipe sensors. So if your a gambling man then buy one but your gonna need tow straps.

You say that like they didn't have any problems.

Did they EVER, EVER correct the bog the M7's had?

How about the M8's melting everything in the engine bay? Diamond Drive issues?

Ski-Doo was eating top ends on the REV chasis. The XP was destroying clutch belts. Two belts on the XP and you bought yourself a new top end.

Everyone has had their issues, I myself have had no issues with my Assault (2009).

Im not gonna start a fight here just clarifing this....i know of lots of guys with the IQ chassis that put small radiator fans under the hood to try and get heat out, i got 2 years on my M8 with just side vents and nothing has melted or even got close to it. Not sure what your talking about there.

And the Diamond drive problem is 90% lack of maintenence or cause of a $10 dollar bearing that should be replaced...kinda like a drive shaft bearing, they go out.

Im a cat fan by far but have nothing against Polaris but it does seem like there are alot more troubles with the IQ than the M chassis.

Many things scare me about the the 08-10 800's, even though we have 2 09 D8's, one bone stock, other with SLP pipe, and a combined total of over 3000 miles still no problems... (we had updates done, but not the last re-flash) I Think luck is on my side. Id say don't buy one of those sleds, just spend a little more and get a pro.
