seat and gas tank on wedge

Seat and Tank

Any Polaris seat and tank combo up to 2001 will go on your wedge chassis. The 02 up to 05 are edge and the seat has a "kick up" in the seat. Tank will likely work but seat will not.

if you have the coolant hoses than are located on top of the tunnel ( under the seat), you are real limited as to your options. The edge gas tanks do not have a slot for them so you pretty much have to install running board edge coolers.

depends...

If you have a 2 piece tank and seat and are trying to install a one piece seat, you will need to cut off the radiator overflow tank braket and make a new one as it will hit the front of the tank. (I put a one piece seat off a 97 gen two on an 89 650.) I relocated the oil tank and radiator overflow bottom mounts 3/8" forward (I have about 1/4" clearance from the cross shaft). Then made a new bracket to hold the radiator overflow tank at the top of the hoop. There was enough plastic on the edge of the oil tank flange to drill a hole in it so it could move forward. Make sure you take the appropriate amount of hose off line to the oil pump or it will kink and smoke your motor. It does make a nice upgrade as those 2 piece tank/seat covers are getting hard to find!

I have put a edge seat and tank on 2 of my wedges, sure it is kicked up in the back but it will bolt on and go flush,it bends, you will have the trim the hood alittel to get the edge or genII tank in,other then that it fits great. But if you have hoses running under the seat it wont fit.

I put a proX seat & tank on my 93 wedge chassie. It had the cooler lines under the seat, I relocated the rear cooler. To make up for the kicked up seat just cut a peice of 3/8 aluminum the width of the tunnel & bolt the seat on. You will have to trim the hood as said before. Here are a couple of pics of mine. Hope this helps...

are the pro x seats way better than any edge seat? is it worth the extra $ and im lucky its a fan so no cooling issues

The edge seat will work if you trim the plastic base to fit the hoses and make a wedge.

i have a seat from my 97 xc its the snow cross seat thay only used them on the 97 xc and 97 or 98 xcr ill sell it if its something you would want i got a tank too only thing wrong with the seat is a burn from someone putting a heater to close to it other then that its nice 440

I'm about to do this to my wedge (bought running board coolers 51 3/4" length). I just measured and that will take me into the tunnel extension. Does anyone who's converted the indy style hoses on top to running board coolers and can you post pics of how you mounted them??

if u have the under seat hoses your best bet is to convert it to a small u-cooler in the back with running board roll grip coolers. Helped a friend do this to his ulcer last winter. And if you're gonna spend money on a seat why not get a used lightweight? Thye just sold a boss on ebay for 50 bucks....
Other guys have built a spacer to lift ther seat adn tank above their hoses but its hideous IMO.

I put this seat on my 1990. I believe it is and edge chassis seat. Just made a bracket for the front and bolted down the rear. Also had to remove those plastic deals with the reflecter's in them off the back of the tunnel. Fit's pretty well except for a gap between the front lower part of the seat and the gas tank.

Here are a couple pics of mine. I used the original running board coolers but same concept.

Great thanks for the pics - that helps a lot guys. My plan is to pull the old exchanger off was considering just running the running board coolers (mounted under the tunnel) with a connecting hose over the top of the tunnel and not use the rear exchanger like modedmach shows. Does this make sense? I will post up some pics of what I end up with.

You are incorrect sir..... I put an 02 light weight polaris tunnel on an 98 RMK bulk head with a new clear tank and an 04 escape seat....

Thats a nice sled!
On Steve's ulcer we used the stock tunnel but built a redneck extension for it outa the back half of my old Tison tunnel. then we used the rear footrests off the tison tunnel to cover the hoses where they would come outa the edge roll coolers. into the tunnel and used the rear cooler that cam in my VE boondocker tunnel. Laced it all up and looks decent, works very well. I don't really like the idea of having the hoses exposed like the one with the pro-x seat has, I'd kick em off in record time.
