If you go let us know the results...interested to see how the snow at SLO is shaping up this year
PJ, I only have around a foot of snow at the house. We haven't had much snow this past week and a half... a couple of inched here, and a couple more again. The warm weather has caused the 2+ feet I had to settle quite a bit. I think you will have to ride out of the gravel pit parking lot in Columbine if you're going to ride North. Weather report is saying snow Friday/Saturday, but I hear it will be blowing snow more than falling snow if you get my drift.
I plan on riding Saturday, and want to ride the Hogg Park loop. Call me on my cell at (970) 846-6386 Sat. and I'll let you know how it went. -

That sounds good. I'll call you then. Jason Stanhope told me that the riding was good up high and into Wy.
Instead of starting a new thread maybe my question can be answered here. Do you guys know if Three Forks is mantaining the road between steamboat and 3 forks? Heard they offered to do it but not sure if the county gave the go ahead.

Hog Park is thin
I rode Hog Park Sunday from the east via Cowdrey / Pearl. The snow was less then a foot at the trailhead and even at Hog Park is was less then 3 feet. Most creeks are still open with running water and there has been a lot of recent logging so watch for stumps and log piles.

Rode Saturday, snow was good, but we need more. As long as you stay on the trail/road, there's nothing to worry about, but getting off the trail is a gamble with the lack of snow this early in the season.
Yes County Road 129 is open North of Columbine, assuming it's all the way to Three Forks since I see Three Forks Suburbans driving back and forth to Steamboat. Not sure who is doing the plowing? Probably not the County. In the past Randy from Midnight Ranch has kept it open from his place South to Columbine.
FYI, FS-550 is plowed open to Little Red Park, and then FS-500 is plowed open to Big Red Park as of last weekend, but enough snow still on it to be able to sled without problems.
Also, there are a few places there are big tree's down across the roads/trails.

Sorry, didn't want to to mislead you, we did get off the trail, but you know, there are a lot off hazards just below the surface. The meadows we know that don't have stumps and rocks got all tracked up. Good snow, and with the recent storms (18" of new at SLO), I'd say it should be safe to go just about anywhere now.
Yeah, I been watching the snotel levels. How is California Park?
We were up today we were about 5 miles from California Park it was awesome where we were good powder and coverage never made it to the park ran out of gas had to head back was an awesome day today!
LOL! Cool will do! They are riding tomorrow up on our end of the flat tops should be awesome! Wish I was going but have to go do the Chistmas thing in Wyo going to ride the range on Sunday! Have a Merry Christmas!

Maybe depends on where we end up you going up that way? Probably ride from the other side riding with my brotherinlaw! I hate coming in on that side it is crazy puts Rabbit ears on a weekend to shame! LOL! IT's STUPID ON THAT SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN!LOL! But will be in Cheyenne so it's closer but I think it is worth it to drive around to the Saratoga side! Might go ride up there next week too ride Battle (Sierra Madres) one day then the range for a day!
