Carter took office, raised taxes, massive increase in the size and control of government and lost both the house and senate 2 years later.
Looks like history may repeat it'self yet again.

"With California's budget on the verge of collapse and unemployment averaging 11 percent in March, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has threatened to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, in a move that proponents argue would generate some $1.6 billion in tax revenue."
ROAD TRIP!!!
The state is voting on 6 tax increases this week that will make or break the state. Even if they pass all the tax increases the state will STILL need 6 billion in aid. If they don't pass any of the tax increases (which is looking very likely) then the budget shortfall would be 20 BILLION DOLLARS. With California's staunch support or illigal immigration there is NO WAY they will recover. It is estimated it costs california over 10 billion a year to support illigals. Then take into account the run away welfare system and you have the 20 billion right there.
