Run down on the 2010 mountain sleds!

All the new sleds look sweet! One gripe however. Polaris if you are reading, the Dragons are a great design but it is time to update the throttle block from 80's vintage Indy's. Pro-taper bars are cool..but finish it off with a updated throttle.

and that is way I had many sleepless nights trying to decide what new (or holdover) sled I wanted to go with before one of my Cat dealers wanted my autograph! :D

If I were buying a new one this year, I'd be taking a serious look at the Cats. Looks like there the only ones who decided to step up, and make some changes for the better this year.

I'll take a serious look at Cat when they come out with a new chassis....sorry, but it's hard to get excited when they are still polishing up old stuff AND asking the most money for them....

I think the m seires chassis is the best for several reasons.

1. It is possibly the strongest/well buitl chassis out, It takes abuse very well, does not bent like a rev or something when you you unloard it off the trailer.

2.They sidehill better than anysled ive ever ridden, they keep a side hil, they dont was out or try to high side you.

3. I just like arctic cat hahahaha

i agree.13k for a 1000 with a 05 chassis.thats nuts

arctic cat is up to 160 horse but does anyone know if its true about the cranks being 4 pounds lighter? may just be another 2000-2005 rmk 800???

I've seen two m7's and one m8 run a lightened crank by speedwerx (same wieght loss and thier crank and the stock 2010 crank look the same), they have offered it for about the same time the M chassis has been around and those sleds are beaten on and cranks have held just a good as a stock crank. All AC did was take away from the wieght, not the durability, their cranks are/were beefy, I may be wrong but I hope I am not, we will have to see how they stand up to high boost levels. My .02

My Choice: 2010 M1000 162" Sno Pro Snow Checked, most people went 8 (maybe I made a wrong choice?)

I know it's old, but they work the best.

We always ask for something new, but the best way to build the best is to improve an alread great sled. I'd hate to see them go backwards just for our buck. My '09 was a big ugrade from '08, let's keep it going.

I don't care who you are that's funny right there!!! :beer;

Polaris dang sure isnt the best mountain sled, half the time it will break down before it gets you to the mountains and the other half of the time it will break down on the mountain. Sure they are great sleds when they run, but that is WHEN they run. IMO it is between ski doo and arctic cat because the Nytro just doesnt have the power or weight to keep up with the 2 stroke 800's (They are good sleds, just not for me) the ski doo felt more trail oriented when i rode one, and i am a huge cat fan so my vote is for the cat for best mountain sled in 2010. They made some great improvements with the power gain, and i really doubt that the lightened crank will cause problems, they didnt make it weaker, they made it lighter weight as someone mentioned earlier.

All sleds are overpriced and they all break down. Our skidoo in stock form broke down 4 times in 600 miles. And no prob's with my chassis unless I broke it from abuse.. Ya, cat is steppin their game up finally, now ON PAR with the others. You can't even vote for a 2010 sled yet, no sleds out yet or season hasn't even started...

Let's not turn this into a SW magazine by giving rec's before people run them in the hills, ya we all have favorites but just laugh when someone thinks one brand is higher than all others....

Polaris do not always break. We have had 2 polarises, one with 5k miles and the other has 2k miles, and neither had a breakdown yet. the 600s and 500s are bulletproof. Arctic cat has kinda scared me away from buying one even if i had the money, you cannot keep pulling weight out of the important parts on a sled and their chassis are in need of an update.
Cat is on the way to becoming the next skidoo.(ending up super lightweight, but having things break because of it)

2800 miles on my M8 and never had a breakdown. It's never not started and never left me on the hill. I have never even blown a belt, and only on my 3rd since the sled was new. If you maintain your sled it will run, fix things before they break and you won't get left on the mountain. I'm not brand loyal, but if anyone says the XP or REV is more reliable than the M8, then they have yellow blinders on. I have a friend with an XP and it is impressive, I will even say it will out run my M8......when it runs.
