Rumor or not is Yamaha end their snow run.

I heard Yamaha has two more year of making snowmobiles and then likely to get out of it completely. Reason for this is the bad economy and poor sales. I notice that Yamaha didn't even go to the snow expo in Washington. What do you know?

I don't know anything.........now that is out of the way, I don't see them discontinuing their effort after putting a bunch of money into the racing programs and signing Chris Brown etc etc. I see them ramping it up.

It doesn't make sense to me either. I think we would see them drop sleds out of the lineup before they just quit.

Where do rumors like this start?

They were at the Salt lake show and showed no signs of getting out of the game. I am sure they would not have wasted their time with Camoplast designing a new mountain track either if this were true.

I don't like the thought of them getting out of snowmobile market it either. I would hate to see them leave it. If they keep it I don't see them ramping it up. History shows that Yamaha doesn't ramp anything up. How long ago did they sign Chris Brown?

So they did show up to the SLC show. Is the Yamaha market strong in UT and ID? I always thought they were more into Polaris.

HIGHLY doubtful that will ever happen. Just because they are not present in Washington does not mean they will be discontinuing production of sleds. I was at Edmonton AB and they had a strong support for the local dealers.... I'm just sayin...

Why do people have to start these rumors :face-icon-small-con

In the past the Washington show has been hit and miss for Yamaha. Some years they are there, other times not. Not sure why, but I would like to see them there every year. I feel that it is a better show when all four manufactures are represented to display their line-up.

I heard the same thing a year or so ago. A guy told me that a friend of his knows someone who knows a guy that works in their marketing department. Reliable source right...He said Yamaha was getting out and said that is why all the photo shots for 2011 were just photoshopped from the 2010 shoot. Keep in mind this is all in the same year that Yamaha was the first to introduce power steering to snowmobiling.

I say they are just rumors started by fans of other brands who are tired of trying to keep up with our boosted 4 strokes. :face-icon-small-hap

Edmonton bc eh? Where abouts is that place?

stupid rumor. Yamaha rarely comes to the puyallup show this is nothing new

Maybe not but they were at the sneek peek in Puyallup right at the front entrance and it was not a pretty site. I felt very sorry for the reps or whoever the couple guys were there sitting on the sleds. With that being said I have been in the sled industry for many many years and Yamaha getting out of the sled business is almost a yearly rumor since they quit making the old phazer lol. I wouldl think with some of the recent success of their aftermarket distribution efforts you may see some nasty production units soon....or maybe not who knows.

I do not see them going any where. They are way to big in the east. Drag race, lake and ditch bang'n style. They are just getting back into RHSHA this coming season.

Here to stay

Yamaha dropping snowmobile production? Not gonna happen. Big Blue works in mysterious ways, just ask anyone involved within the company about how or why they choose to do or NOT do certain things, and a common answer might be "ancient Japanese secret grasshopper"...Yamaha is currently developing alot of cutting ege sled tech, which also involves big dollar partnerships with some of the biggest players in the industry (FOX/CAMOPLAST/DUPONT) etc. Loyal bluebloods know that patience with a capital "P" is a hard earned and necessary way of life when we choose to align ourselves with this HIGHLY concervative Japanese company. Ten(10)years,...a whole decade of sitting on the bench before they decide to get back into competitive hillclimbing? Thats what we are dealing with here, but rest assured, now that we are back to racing, we will be accused of bringing guns to a knife fight,...or maybe bazookas to a gun fight, HAHA! Good things come to those who wait, and I think we will see some good things from Yamaha in the near future...

throttlecable,
How do you know that yamaha is producing cutting edge sled tech.? Is this the same rumor that yamaha is also building 1300 cc sled that weighs 495lb dry?
I like my nytro's but ready for something new and better. You don't see the nytro as much as you did two years ago. Why is that? JMTC
