RTR weights, Axys, T3 174, LTD cat, mod cat

Wow, last time I saw a broken spindle it was on a 1991 700 wildcat who hit a tree at a pretty good rate of speed.

Did I hear the call for haters????????

You weighed the heaviest possible Doo and Poo. Can we get a cost on the mod Cat? Is that an extra $5000 to get there? The difference between my stock 155 2.6 Axys and the Limited Cat is 40 lbs still. If you are going to take 12-15 off with a can, so can I, it is still 40 lbs difference. Most of it seems to reside on the front end, which is not where I want it. The balance is much better on the Poo, and I have spent a weekend on the '16 Cat.

Nice to see some honest weights. Apples to apples model/track length comparisons would be nice too.

I think it might be worse than 40 for the Axys with belt drive. When we weighed the '15 sleds rtr last year it was 38 lbs between a '15 153 Limited cat w/3" and the 163 Pro RMK (554-516 = 38...see at snowmobile.com '15 mountain sled shootout, Part 1). So if the Axys lost about 10 lbs, and it did, and the Cat lost more like 5 (if it did?), we would still be over 40 lbs diff. Cat definitely has some catching up to do...and I'm not a hater....I own four!

You're probably right about weight distribution/balance. You can see it in the pics. However, prior pro was relatively planted in downhill maneuvers vs Cat. Once weight comes off the front of the cat with a can etc., I prefer it personally. Of course Axys is a new animal. Short time I rode the Axys a couple weeks ago it felt more like a lightweight proclimb than a Pro. Rolls up with no countersteer at all just like a Proclimb always has.

Haha, I too broke a spindle on my Wildcat! There was no internet back then so I thought it was an isolated case.
Too bad there was no internet cuZ I could have got on a forum and cried that I hit a rock and broke a spindle on an early season, low snow ride.

Keep putting your heads in the sand. Pretty sure it's not just Axys out riding in the early snow. Sure not seeing many bent arms and broke off spindles in the cat or doo sections. :face-icon-small-hap

Thanks MadMax! Great to see ride ready realistic weights. I have ridden a T3 174" and found it to be a very great sled. The reason I went with theAxys 163" x 3" was to get the tree riding agility I don't have with my Turbo Nytro 174". Both would have done the job however I thought the lighter Axys would be more maneuverable and hold a side hill better. Even then I was still kind of on the fence as the Doo was proven reliability. However when I saw the Axys Pro's ability to have all panels and hood completely off in 2 minutes vs 10 minutes with the Doo, I thought I would try it. Only one ride so far but so far I am happy and can see the potential for my Axys to get better. To those who are really worried about a few pounds one way or the other I can only assume you all are in great shape, completely ripped and 15% body fat or less.....I am sadly not anymore! :pizza:

mmmm pizza and beer mmmmm

That being said my buddy and I are texting and what is the weight difference between a 174 t3 and a 163 t3?

Thanks for the weights!!!

The axys is a better designed sled,
Put the bmfab narrow boards on the pc and then you have a comparison. Then its just a matter of weight
