RTR weights, Axys, T3 174, LTD cat, mod cat

The Axys they weighed had the 3" 163 track with a chaincase and steel drive shaft, which is 5 pounds heavier than the Axys 155 with 3" track and 18 heavier than the 155 with the 2.6" track. I don't see that it says what lug height the stock cat had, was it a 3"?. If you want to do an apples to apples comparison, each of the sleds should have the same length track with the same height lugs (the T3 was a 174 3"). I believe each of the manufacturers made a 163 with a 3" track, and weighing them would be the most fair comparison in my mind.

--Cat LTD comes stock with 3 inch track

--So basically there is a 26 lb (instead of 21 lb) difference between the RTR stock weights of AXYS RMK 155x3 chaindrive and Cat PC LTD 155x3...
(Stock Axys belt drive system apparently not suitable/desirable for a 3 inch setup)

I only weighed what I have access to. Everyone I know who bought a 15 or 16 XM jumped on the 174 bandwagon. Also have to remember the XM has the smallest gas tank at 10.7 gallons.
Yes, you can get an Axys to weigh less than my mod cat, that is for sure, but you will never get close to 200 normally aspirated hp out of the Axys motor no matter how much money you spend on it.
There will also be a larger separation in weight if you go 2.6 track pro vs. cat. The cat 8-tooth drivers and 2.6 track weigh more that the 3" track 8-tooth driver setup. The pro also gets the belt drive in the 2.6, so the 2.6 track Polaris will weigh a bit less than the 2.6 cat.
Then again, the guys I ride with are all going 3" track so I did apples to apples for guys I ride with.

They are all such amazing sleds. Can't believe what the manufacturers are putting out these days. 10-15 years ago you'd be 25-30 grand into a sled to get close to a stock sled these days. Honestly I'd ride any of the three and be happy all winter, just gotta love what you ride.

For $850 I can do a pipe/can/clutch set up that should give it 170 hp while dropping 15 lbs. Beyond that the smart money is on a turbo. For less than you have into the mod cat I can have a turbo Axys with less weight and more power on the mountain.

most of the early season carnage I have seen is on the new Polaris. not sure how the a arms ect are going to hold up. im not hating, I was so close to buying an axys, but went with a 15 cat and a 925 RKTEK and tki belt drive. into it about the same as a snowcheck axys.

Good question. Looking at the bottom of the closeup picture showing the weight it appears to be an orange sled, not the green limited shown in the first picture. Unless I'm mistaken the limited with the 3" track didn't come in orange, only green or black.

--It would seem the closeup sled has an orange hood and is facing toward the back of the shop...

My you Poo guys get worked up over weight. Add or subtract 5 Pds between track lengths and you will get close on weights. By the way how are those a-arms holding up.

Not all Poo guys get worked up over weights. I've put my Axys on a diet, but it is what it is when it comes to how it compares to other sleds. My Kmod 37" arms will be just fine...Thanks for asking. LOL

Cat with Diamond s drops 17lbs
axys drops 14lbs from what I knew but could be 15lb

so its kinda wash other then possible warranty issues, cat doesn't care but don't let poo know.

From CO2 comparison its a 30lb diff. So it would take a hood 10lbs, a can you get ahead 2lbs, a belt drive 7lbs, that's the easy stuff that cost about 1900. and puts you within 10 ish lbs.

After that it gets spendy quick.
pipe
ti shafts
vents
seat (maybe)
ti arms
etc...

Why is the close up weight picture on the stock 153 16 cat from a different sled?

In the spring max weighed a stock 153 14 and the 16 demo. The sleds weighed the same. He must have accidentally pulled the wrong picture in the close up.

I think my 14 weighed in at 525 with probably10lbs of tools, so call it 515lbs
3" w 8 tooth - 2lbs its a wash if you have a 16 le
tki with oil - 7lbs $900
fire and ice hood- -13lbs $1000
diamond s can - 17lbs $600
=2500 but if you use the Mountain fit hood for $350 your only at $1850

Those items calculate to 514lbs but I also ditched the foam, snow flap, and idler wheels, which should add up to at least 5lbs. but may have added a pound with burandt boards because of bolts etc...

so either some of the weights don't add up or I had more tools in there then I thought.
