Rode the 2010 M8's all day today!

First off what an improvment this sled is over my 07 m8 with slp set up. This thing flat out rips! I loved everything about this sled. I honestly felt like I was on a turbo the way this thing was riding. Going up some pretty steep hills my skis were hardly ever on the ground and going up over the top my skis would be up in the air. What an awesome feeling that was! I tried some things that I would have never tried to climb on my 07 because not confident enough in what my 07 could do. Snow conditions today were spring like but there was still some soft snow on some of the hills. But like I said this thing was a monster I was very impressed with how it rode. Climbing up some tight trees was very easy and I really enjoyed the handle bars as I had them as high as they would go. I have a 2 inch riser on my 07 and really like how much higher the telescoping bars went. Im really glad that I have one of these sleds snowchecked and can't wait till next winter. We had a lot of doo guys at this demo and they all seemed convince and I think they will be on cats come next winter. Two of the "hardcore" doo guys got on two of the cats and said "we'll see you back at the truck" thats how much they loved them. The only thing I don't like about the M is when its on the trail. But hey in the backcountry its the best sled out there. Chassis, power everything.. OH yeah and that new seat is pretty sweet I definetly like it better than my boss seat and I think im starting to like the looks of it.

I just don't like the fact that they made the crank weaker this year. Especially with the popularity of the turbo now. Think I would rather still have the 2009 sled.

The Rep that brought the sleds down said he is not concerned with the crank and that hes got a couple of sleds with around 5,000 miles that have had no problems. He said the real test for the crank will be on a turbo sled. So if your planning on turboing a sled then I would go with an 09 since the 10's have not yet been prove to be ran with a turbo. As far as me being sponsored?? hahahah I WISH!! I just freeride like the rest of us. If I was sponsored wouldn't you think that I would have an 09 not an 07? And again for being rich?? I would have a new sled every year. Ive just been saving money so I can afford a new one. I know my opinion seemed very biast towards the 2010 but I really loved it. I didnt want to get off. Its really an awesome sled. But hey what do I know :)

crank 'n it

New M8 crank any good..........we'll see, but mass in cranks is not a sign of strength, can be.........but the quality of the metal used in the crank pins and area that accepts the pin press is critical. After owning several aftermarket cranks..........smaller/ lighter / tougher than cat cranks, its obvious that 1/2 the weight and better material is not a tough goal. If Suzuki stepped to the plate, and they have on some of their bikes, way better off with the 10 than the 09 crank.

Ill be picking the up one of those SP 153" in the fall. Cat, has had this new motor/crank thing in testing for a few years before they brought it into the line up for '10. :)

I rode the SP 153" and the HCR for about an hour last Saturday..loved the SP!!

lol, I may look like a dork but, I dont really care! very impressive machine.

If I had money and some time (which of neither I have) I wouldnt mind picking up an '07 and putting the new crank and pistons from the '10 into the '07. Just a thought..

changes to the crank

I was told no change the crank itself, however the counter weights were what was changed, if anything it will be stronger than the 2009, not as much rotating mass, free er spinning.
I was also told that the free spinning 2010 crank, might work really well with boost due to the quick revving nature....quicker revving, less lag!
Come on guys this is a Suzuki engine...I would turbo this thing without a lick of worry...now if this was a Polaris Liberty engine, i would be afraid to pipe it!
my opinion...of course

Boost1 is right, Lightened NOT weakened!

Hey, I am just dissappointed they got rid of the white bumper!! LOL :D You can tell the dumbass engineer who decided to put a white bumper on the '09 had never left his desk let alone put his *** on a sled!!

2010 m8's

thanks for coming again Chris! The 2010 M8's flat out rip! I was just disappointed in the snow. the pull if the new h.o. really suprised me, i love the new seats. great height, great feel and didn't get it the way of your boots like the boss seats. Can't wait to ride them in 3-4' of powder! THE OTHER BRANDS ARE GOING TO BE DISAPPIONTED IN THEIR PRODUCTS, the 2009 cat's ran with the best of them and the 2010's just made that gap a little farther apart! Sorry poo/doo boys!

Boondockers has a 2010 Turbo M8, we are giving demo rides. If any of you would like to see this sled with turbo give us a call, Thanks Diann 1-208-542-4411

I love hereing these posts. makes me more excited that I snowchecked a 2010 as well. I was not able to ride the 2010 sled But i told myself last year if Cat makes 4 more horses than the 09 Thats the sled I'm snowchecking. Well they did more then that!

How tall are some of you guys that have rode the 2010 with the new seat. My wife is about 5'4" and am wondering if that seat would work for her on her M7. She Thought the Cat boss seat didn't work for her all that well. But if the new seat fits her, thats where the $300 cat cash is going.

I have seen the t cranks break with boost and nitrious, I have also seen a modified doo crank break.
I would have to agree the crank will not be as strong in a boosted application.
But dont see any problems with it as a stock or mderate build.

I got a chance to ride the 2010 m8 today up lumberton in spring type snow.
the motor was the most responsive cat i have ever ridden.the seat was
excellent for the trail ride and was just right for height.some up hill drag races
with a poo & a doo came with varyed results & opinions. the front was light under power but a little heavy when not.i think theres lots of room for improvements on the setup then look out.
thanks to Darren at All seasons for the call and letting me ride his turbo
m8 it was a great day in the sun, maybe my doo days are over.
