Road a XM Summit X 800, P.O.S!

Ya the Axys chassis has me worried, if they are moving center of gravity back more on that sled and assuming it's coming in a pro rmk version for 16 ; ) then it would be leaning towards what the xM is, weight too far back getting too much transfer and byproduct is trenching. Hopefully geometry of sub frame and steering stays the same because these Pro RMK'S are so damn good in the trees it would be sad to see anything else. That's why I am going to keep my 14 pro till 2017 see how this new motor and chassis work.

I think its the other way around no? The weight is toooo far forward on the ski doo, hence that fat *** always washing out?

The wash out comes from the fat *** panels always floating the skis, not keeping the sled cutting into the hill so when front end lifts it the track wants to run uphill.. I'm pretty sure if we measured center lines on sleds and where motor was At on Pro and Xm the Xm would be closer to center but I may be wrong just feels like my pro is longer on front and reason I can hold such a technical line with it because sled feels way more balanced!

But keep in mind on the XP (not even deserving of a new name) the rider is basically over the engine, all the weight is too far forward. I see what you mean though, the mass is 'centralized' like a dirtbike, but not distributed properly. The Pro you are behind the engine, distributing the mass better (I think!??) The rev was closer in design to the pro.

pissing in the cheerios of ski doo section. [/QUOTE]

Snopro:

Screw the cheerios. Ya should've posted it in the Ski Turd section. Hell, we might have gotten a little noise from our fan favorite in Oregon -- snowmobiler.

Yes you nailed it in better words. Also agree the rev was 10 times the sled Xp/xm is! Still enjoy getting on an old Rev 800ho that sled with some updates and shaved side panels would give a Pro a run for its money!

POS is maybe a bit of an overstatement. I ride with a couple guys that have XMs and they love them. I rode one a little on Saturday and I did a whole lot better on it than I did last year. You have to have the bars adjusted correctly (I would prefer a post-forward kit) and steer with your feet. Seemed to me it would lay over really easy and then stop when you hit the end of the t-motion and the flexi-track. For the REV guys these XMs are unreal. There is no way I would trade my pro for one. I would much rather put the extra money towards a new top end. All three are pretty good but when the going gets tough the pro really really shines in my book.

Haha I thought about it hard putting in ski doo section but I really felt the Pro section needed some positive feedback since all I read are a bunch of sob stories about motor problems, which like I said with miles and treatment we put on these Pros have yet to see one go in our group of 5! This thread was not about motors though because Etec800 is better then 800pro motor. It is comparing chassis to chassis and come to find out there is no comparison it's like comparing a trail sled to a mountain sled in Cooke city on a 3ft pow day! The summit is so far off the pace I would much rather ride the pro climb cat at least that sled has some rigidity to it and a motor that runs but still just not quite there with the Pro.

People can cry all they want but when it comes down to a mountain backcountry rider wanting to push the next level it is only sled capable of getting you into that next steep area! Like Burandt says most people can not out ride the Pro, I consider myself a pretty good rider and this sled still blows my mind when it pulls me out of Hell itself and look back down and say ya right!

I will chime in aswell. I ride with friends that run 174x3 '11 XP, '13 163 xm, '14 155 Prormk, '12 153 M8.

I tried both out one day (for a short time), and i couldn't get those things to side hill for the life of me. I hate to say it but it makes me think my friends are alot better riders than i give them credit if they can manuever those things around like they do. I wouldn't call myself a great rider by any means (average) but i was not impressed. I am sure with more time spent on them i could make it work for me but i sure find the PRO is much easier to ride. Saying that, this was my first season on a PRO chassis as i came off an edge chassis last year and i had a bit of a learning curve to make it work for me too (trying not too over lean VS the old tank of an edge chassis i rode all last year) so i understand it takes some time.

I wasn't overly impressed with the engine either, it pulled fine but i expected more. I also had a chance to ride a '12 cat with pipe and that thing felt stronger than the etec (and my pro) for sure. Handling wise i think the cat was in between the PRO and DOO.

Both the CAT and my PRO run the 2.25PC and it was apparent to a few of us that it is a better track than the stock polaris, no comparison with the 174x3 of course.

Reading these forums is crazy. I've ridden a 2013 pro with challenger extreme track the last 2 winters and I love it. Very easy to control. However, I'm not brand loyal one single bit. I decided to sell the pro and try a summit x 154 next winter. Snowchecked it the other day. Itl be an interesting experience to get used to it but the only way to know which I like better is to just try it out. If I don't like it as much as I liked my pro after next winter than I'll sell it and switch back to a pro. At least I'll have my own experience with both.

Hmm I'm totally opposite from you guys I rod a 2011 RMK standard for 3 days and tryed out a 13 xm 154 for a couple hours and I preferred the ski doo over the RMK. IMO the ski doo was easier to ride had and had better power. That's JMO. I also rode a 2009 XP for 3 days and there is no comparision between the XP and the XM at all now that thing was a POS. I snowcheck a new ski doo T3

I have not ridden the XM. However, it looks and feels like a Yamaha when I sat on it. Very wide! It doesn't look very nimble. I like my Pro a lot and I am sure that there are a bunch of XM riders who like their ride. I am pretty sure that Burandt could make an XM look pretty damn capable. The power thing has never been a big deal to me. Horsepower to weight ratio and applying the power to the snow effectively is much more important. I think that the Pro proves its worth in those two categories. I am not young, I am not light and I have had multiple injuries over the years from college football, powerlifting and assorted violent collisions with the earth on mountain bikes, dirt bikes and snowmobiles. I want a sled that is light and responsive. The Pro answers those needs for me the best. I don't want to wrestle a heavyweight around the mountain all day and need two or three days to recuperate. I had one of those high horsepower ill handling pigs before (09 Dragon with a turbo). It would go up anything that I had the guts to point it up but it was a tank slapper in situations that required finesse. It was the difference between a machete and a scalpel. Both are knives but the similarities end there.

Entirely my point of view but that was the worst handling sled I have ever rode. Felt like the time I got on a mechanical bull I had to fight that thing every time I got into a technical area. It has terrible balance point and feels like your riding a spaghetti noodle the way it rolls around. Nothing rigid about it. I will take my blown motors on a Pro any day of the week ( not that I have had a motor blow or even been around a Pro that has blown a motor) just to have a sled capable of maneuvering in the steep terrain we ride! If I had to ride a ski doo every day I would find myself a new hobby/ passion in life.

Sorry if I offend anyone but those sleds are a joke and ski doo should just ditch that platform and start over.

Apparently you need to start over in first grade so you'll know the difference between road and rode......I'll definitely take your advice when it comes to sleds
