Road a XM Summit X 800, P.O.S!

Entirely my point of view but that was the worst handling sled I have ever rode. Felt like the time I got on a mechanical bull I had to fight that thing every time I got into a technical area. It has terrible balance point and feels like your riding a spaghetti noodle the way it rolls around. Nothing rigid about it. I will take my blown motors on a Pro any day of the week ( not that I have had a motor blow or even been around a Pro that has blown a motor) just to have a sled capable of maneuvering in the steep terrain we ride! If I had to ride a ski doo every day I would find myself a new hobby/ passion in life.

Sorry if I offend anyone but those sleds are a joke and ski doo should just ditch that platform and start over.

Lol my thoughts exactly!!! Sooner they start from scratch the better off they'll be. Ever seen a dog chase its own tail....

I had the opposite experience.

I rode a 2014 Pro RMK 4 times. Just spring ordered a new 2015 Summit XM instead.

The Pro was lighter, no doubt. But the 800 Pro engine was lacking and no where as nice as the ETEC.

They each have their strong (and weak) points. Both are great sleds. The key is to try them both and then decide.

I didn't feel a 30hp difference between My Pro 800 and the XM that's for sure, just my opinion of course.. I know this will ruffle some feathers but at least I posted this in Pro section instead of pissing in the cheerios of ski doo section. They have a good motor no doubt, but that chassis is bad. I know capable guys who can ride a XM very well but if they were to ride a Pro chassis they would be alot better!

I had to vent some where I figured this would be best place since I ride polaris.

One more thing is I know these XM's work great in certain situations just not vertical situations. When you are on edge leaning on your side panels 90% of the day and needing your sled to be rigid and your body be able to feel every input from your sled the Pro is closest thing to that.

I've spent a few days on an xM and I think it's an awesome sled! But when it comes down to technical riding and steep side hills that's where it struggles! Love the xM and really tried to like it because that etec is very nice but I'll take the pro for the type of ridig I enjoy doing

In a more sudle explanation yes this is what I'm trying to say haha. I should of headlined topic, " xm chassis is pos"

I don't care about point and shoot or trail riding, my style is steep slopes, tight trees and big obstacles!

Snopro,
There are a lot of folks who feel exactly the way you do, myself included. The entire XP thru XM lineup are very difficult to ride. I've been on several rides this year with Newbie sledders on their new XM's, everyone of them has been happy to make it back to the truck alive. Pretty impossible platform to learn from.

Exactly. And when I took it to side hill in the steeps that track kept washing out and pointing me straight up and down and before I knew it I was stuck. If I could have a pro with the etec that would be one amazing sled

Wow, all of the spaghetti noodles I've ridden felt nothing like an XM, but now that I've read your review I'll have to pay more attention and see if I feel the similarity, thanks. :face-icon-small-win

You bet! Glad you can find what your looking for in the Pro section

Maybe I've ridden a bunch of weak e-tecs but all I feel is no throttle response and a weak bottom and mid with a decent top end... Is it the excessive trenching and front end lift that makes people think they have power?:face-icon-small-ton

We lined up the rental xm with the rental pro in cooke countless times. The xm was suckin snodust everytime and I was fricken mad cause I was the one on the skidon't and I dont like losing. My bro got sick of racing cause everytime he'd have to loop around and help me dig that sumb!tch out.

Don't get me wrong I rode one for about ten minutes and I see why certain riders like them, in the open they are much easier to ride. But the XM was lipstick on a pig, its still a dirty old XP! Every time I go to pull one out I cringe, it brings me back to my 08' days, *** end buried and front end on top of the snow, rider with hands in the air asking wtf. Why even buy an XM, upgrade an 08' with XM suspension front and rear and you have the same thing for 6k (canada.)

Ya the Axys chassis has me worried, if they are moving center of gravity back more on that sled and assuming it's coming in a pro rmk version for 16 ; ) then it would be leaning towards what the xM is, weight too far back getting too much transfer and byproduct is trenching. Hopefully geometry of sub frame and steering stays the same because these Pro RMK'S are so damn good in the trees it would be sad to see anything else. That's why I am going to keep my 14 pro till 2017 see how this new motor and chassis work.

Like Burandt said..."The best thing a ski-doo rider can do to make their sled more like a Pro is buy a for sale sign!"
