rmsha Q's?

yeah, shes given her blessing to try it and shes really excited for it. we're just trying to decide now whether to attend some races first and see how it is or just dive in and race some stock classes. i'm looking at an 09 HCR sled that was run in stock classes last year, just trying to decide what to do.

The HCR came stock set up pretty well. Some of the early season races are more Newbie friendly, Preston, Soda Springs, and Bear Lake. If you watch a couple then show up at Afton to race you'll probably go "oh sh*t!! what the h@ll am I doing??!!"

So my vote is to dive right in! And sign up for all 3 classes; stock, improved, and mod. Get in as many runs as you can. It's really hard to get a feel for racing and improve if you are only hitting the hill one run per weekend.

Is your wife going to try it too? Encourage her, there are a few of us who will be more than willing to help her out!

Sign up for all 3 classes in the new member class or in semi-pro class? Looking at this years schedule it looks like they ran a new member stock class at one race, then a new member improved class at another race, then a new member mod class at yet another race.

my wife was just in a car accident a few weeks ago and has a broken neck, but otherwise doing very well. shes lost a little bit of feeling in her right arm but that should return once the herniated disk gets better. so her future snowmobiling career could be up in the air.

So sorry to hear about your wife!! My best wishes to her!

I meant the semi-pro classes. The new member ones are good as well if you go to a race that has one.

Thanks. shes doing really well considering she has a broken neck. she has to wear a neck brace for 8 weeks so hopefully it heals well and she can still ride.

Now i just need to decide whether to purchase the HCR or stay with my 07 M8. thanks again.

Sorry to hear about the wifes accident ved.:( If you can keep your 07 and still buy the HCR I would do that. If the HCR has already been raced it should be setup pretty well, AND you should be able to get it for a steal of a deal. Then the M8 could be a backup sled or just an extra for freeriding or friends. I really wish I could have 2 sleds even if they were both stock in case something gets jacked up. Beating a dead horse here but definitely sign up for all 3 semi-pro classes AND sign up for the new member classes for an extra shot at qualifying for Jackson. I can tell you first hand that just doing one or two races a year, or just doing one or two classes makes it twice as hard to get better and qualify with the guys that do every class at every race. Seat time is the most vital aspect of learning this type of riding. The rest will come as you hang out with other racers and learn the courses and setups that everyone is using. Keep it up with the questions. I am refreshing myself on every post as well as educating. Awesome thread we have going here.

Bolt,

Sorry to hear about your wife i hope she is doing well.
I did make my way to Beaver watched for a while seems like less of a freak show than Jackson. For next year i really want to go stock and enter all three classes and vintage at beaver..it looked like tons of fun. I look forward to joining the curcuit next year.

Thanks Zach.

glad to hear you had a good time at Beaver. We wanted to go but i had to work that weekend. Are you going to race your current sled or by one just for hillclimbing?

depends on how my summer goes...damn oil field slowing down is screwing with my plans
i want to get one just for climbing but i plan and having my dragon set up for mod class.

Zach

Yea i move drilling rigs in the Jonah field...the slow down is starving us been looking in PA for a job for the summer now.

Zach

not to be tricky or anything, but in 07 they had the sno pro versions that came stock the better shocks. My sled is not the sno pro but if i were to add the sno pro shocks for an 07 would i still classify as stock its still technically a stock sled that arctic cat produced in that year?
