RMK question

Ok I'm coming to the experts. I have been looking at a '09 RMK and the guy keeps telling me it is an "Indy" RMK, he even has it advertised that way. I have never heard this term and I asked a guy who knows sleds what an "Indy" RMK was and he looked at me like I had three eyes.

Is that a package that Polaris put out or something else? Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

This thing either has got a racing paint job or the guy is using some old school terms from polaris. But I still dont belive even in those days there was an indy RMK. Indy 500 yes.

So you think he is confused and is mixing up terms from different eras or different sleds?

The only "Indy" RMK was back in 1997 with the Indy 700. Ever since then they've pretty much been standardized as the RMK with refinements over the years like the vertical escape, dragon, assault, and now the pros'. Sounds like someone may just have some terminology mixed up????

Or...

He wants you to look up info on a 09 Indy RMK because he is worried about all of the burn down threads. If a guy does not know his sled (or anything else for that matter) it makes me suspect he is either hiding something about the mechanical nature of the sled or it may not be his.
I had a guy try to sell me a 1999 700 sks with accs for a good deal. Told me it was fuel injected and needed a battery to run the injectors. It was "borrowed" from the neighbor while he was in Hawaii, the other neighbor turned him in.
l would find out a bit more about it before you spend the money on a burnt sled or hot sled.

That is a crazy story. I will be very careful.

This is a long time Tahoe family, I know the son it is the fathers sled. I will have to see it. I just think someone has their wires crossed on the type. It could actually be hurting the sale of it, because most people go HUH when reading the ad.

Actually, when you look up values on NADA guides. All Polaris Snowmobiles in 2009, were listed as INDY. Everything from the Indy 120, to the Indy RMK, the Indy Touring as well as the Indy Widetrax.

Then I would consider the sled if you know the family and type of riding they do. It is no guarantee but you can sometimes tell how a sled is taken care of by looking at A arms, the tunnel, track ect. I look at the parts that are not easily replaced or are expensive when looking at a used sled. Most guys will add paint to A arms, cover a bent tub with a skid plate but a funky tunnel is harder to hide.

I did look at the NADA blue book and they are all listed as an Indy in this manual. I learned something today.
