RK Tek bang for your buck!

I must admit we were skeptical if the Drop-In piston kit was going to live up to the hype. We had an out of warranty 2012 RMK with high miles, and the owner wanted us to install a Drop-In kit since he needed to rebuild the top end. The first ride out I neglected to install new clutching because we were unsure of where to start based off the kits result. This kit caused a very large jump in RPM's which is what we all hope to see with modifications of any kind. This horsepower increase required two extra Grams of weight in its primary clutch to operate properly. This sled revs very quick and clean. Coming in under $1000 bucks I would consider this a great bang for your buck setup. This sled is bone stock other then the drop-in kit. I would highly recommend this kit for anyone looking for more horsepower in the Pro RMK. Nice work RK Tek!

I too was skeptical of this kit, after just season on my 13 PRO RMK I contacted Kelsey and ended up purchasing the drop-in with head kit, a boondocker box, and clutch weights! Well I am beyond impressed with this kit, had a trip to cooke city and his kit ran flawlessly! I pull 8400rpm @ 8-10K with 3 grams over stock, sled is a new animal! Now I'm kicking my self and should have got the BB! I have 2 buddies that are going to purchase these kits next year! Like said above sled revs quicker smoother and no more low idle death shake, very consistent coolant temps! (133) WELL DONE SIR!!!! WELL DONE

I know I love my drop in kit... I no longer worry if today is my day to toss a skirt... The low end isn't even comparable anymore and my temp spikes are gone and I hold steady at 131 - 134 degreees

You guys commenting on the drop in with or without the cylinder shim?[/Q

they are commenting on the rev1 kit (no shim), the rev2 drop in kits are very new, only a few on the snow that i know of. the one that we have on the snow is running very strong, running the same clutching as our rev1 kits but it is noticabley quicker

It really sucks to order something in Oct. and find out its replaced by something better in November.
Don't get me wrong the kit I got is running great but I didn't think I was buying a last years model in Oct:face-icon-small-fro

it did not get replaced, both rev1 and rev2 are still available ( once pistons come back into stock), if companies didnt come out with new products they would not be in business. the rev2 kit is $100 more and isn't officially released until January. It requires a fuel a controller on all models 11-14 and it takes similar fueling to the 858 big bore kit. so by the time you get your control box your actually $500 more than the rev1 kit.

Are you saying that Kelsey makes the drop in kit with a cylinder shim now?

That's the kind of info I was looking to get from Kelsey when I found out about the shim a few days ago. I assumed his silence meant I got one of the last "old" kits before the new ones came out. Being I have a 13 and the fuel box was required it would only have been $100 for me. Requiring that much more fuel it has to be a major step up.
Maybe with the holidays Kelsey hasn't had a chance to respond to me and I'm stuck in the mountains with internet access only.
No worries time to ride again:face-icon-small-hap

Jkinzer,
Do you know if the Rev1 and Rev2 head are the same so if I wanted I could get away buying new pistons and a shim?

to the best of my knowledge they are the same, i can't say i looked overly close when we put the rev2 kit in but i'm pretty sure they are

I have the new rev 2 and no the domes are different on the head between the two rev 1 and rev 2 the rev 1 runs very well I would not be concerned with changing it I have both and both run very well.

lost my rkt top end yesterday. is it easy to get parts for these kits?

side note, I lost the whole motor. I am not a mechanic enough to give you all the details, but the fix lasted 300 miles from when I lost the top end last march. Oh well, it is just money. sell the rolling chasis and move on to skidoo.
