Rivet guns

i also have the harbor freight rivet gun. one issue i had with mine that i havent seen anyone mention is that the head on mine didnt have any oil in it so when i tried to use it the first time nothing happened. i read the manual and it didnt have anything to say about priming the head with hydraulic oil. i took the air piston out and filled the head and small cylinder with oil and reassembled, now it works like a champ. i checked the online manual last night and it was updated with priming instructions.

the air riviters with the big can on the bottom work pretty good, but the hydraulic over air riviters will pull the rivits tighter..they cost about 300 or so but they do get the rivits tight...most of our tool trucks (snap-on, mac, carry them up here)
here is a online link to them..nice thing is they are very compact to the other riviters....

The clamp up of a rivet is driven by the fastener itself, if you generate the tension to break the pin then you have done all that rivet was going to do.

The HF is good - both the 3/16 and 1/4" capacity tools have served many I know well over the years.
