My friends are taking me riding in trapper this Saturday. I never rode there be for, and I'm a little worried about the avy conditions this week. I get a little nevous when I go to a new place. Who rides there and what should I expect?

Are you talking about trapper creek, north of Priest lake? If so, a nearby snowtel showed 17" new (lost lake) Anything steep may be dangerous after this dump.

Most of the good stuff is closed unfortunately. Be careful not to spook the caribou that are as thick as whitetail deer in a cornfield........or not.

Avy danger should be moderate.

Stay out of the closed areas please. There will be signs to let you know. We need that area back bad. My buddy rode up there today and said the snow was very sketchy.

PriestlakeRMK......sketchy as in not enough.......sketchy as in chasing you down the mountian and killing you........or something else.....can you please elaborate.............thanks............

Don't know about up there but in McCall today I saw 5 avys go. This new stuff on the setup base is sliding so stay off the steep stuff!

We were going in when the search team was taking him out. That really puts a pit in your gut when you see that. I feel sorry for his friends and family.

This post started with a "my friends are taking me" line which really comes to pass. I don't personally know priest lake rmk, but I feel for you and agree with what you have had to say. I know most people get into snowmobiling because they love the sport, like I do, but I have literally been on slopes that I thought would never move and had to pull the trigger and go where I didn't want to go..just to get out (in my younger days) My point: You don't know unless you are experienced, and even then it is a gamble. Go with somone who is and LISTEN to them. Talk to the local dealer, do something other than be oblivious to your surroundings. You can drive 1000 miles and a drunk driver "might" hit you.......or you can ride 10 miles and an avy "might" bury you........you don't know. Ride safe, and carry a beacon, take a class, live life to its fullest as you are only here so long, but NEVER put the other person in danger because of your actions.

my friends and i were the ones who found him it is very sad my heart goes out to his friends and family
