Back to where to ride though, my two cents is having been in your wife's shoes (new lady rider), if the snow is any good at Cooke it will probably be a little over whelming. I know it was for me the first couple years I was riding. Just a lot of snow and not much for flat areas to get turned around in.
Have you thought about riding at top of the world/beartooths? It generally has a bit less powder and a lot more flat areas, plus not near as many people. You could stay in Cooke, rider over to top of the world and maybe if the ladies get tired you could still spend some time riding at Cooke?
