The Revelstoke search and resuce has asked that I post asap to get some info out to backcountry sleders etc, with regard to an avalanche we were in yesterday afternoon while riding Frisby Ridge.
I will try post more details and a full story when I get home but for now, there were 4 of involved, 3 separate slides, each bigger than the other, the last being about 1000+ feet long and aprox 3 feet deep.
2 complete burials, both found, recovered and all off the mountain. 3 sleds remain buried. One caught and buried under sled, uncoverd face aprox 8-10min after burial, breathing. Second aprox 10-12 minutes, barely concious, but made recovery. Rode one sled out, 4 guys.
Very many miricals happend that day, including my avy pack that did not fire (could have been my fault, not tested bag yet will report), which allowed me get partialy buried stopping me from going over a 100ft cliff, the way the others were buried, within 2 feet of each other, and the fact that we all were not buried.
Very large slide.
thank you very much to Revelstoke search and rescue, i will try write a much more detail report when we get back home.
Ride safe.
