Reported Avalanche: Superbowl

How many more people have to die before people get the clue. STAY OFF THE HILLS!!!!!!!!!!
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I don't know what I would do if I lost my boy.

x2. more than pride and joy. my kids are my life. it does hit home.:(:mad::mad:Just stay off hills.

Heart Wrenching The point is not to stay off the hills it is to stay away from them completely. Prayers to this poor family

exactly! look above you for what can hit you and below you for where you can end up. This is becoming insanity... all of western North America is in a critical situation. stick to Level ground or PARK THEM until we get the green light. The price for being in the wrong place is just WAY TOO HIGH! My prayers go out to those involved. again! :brokenheart:

This is unbelievable. I think Hayden was the young man that I spent some time with this summer. If I am not mistaken, his Dad, Brett, has been doing most of the road work, backhoe, etc at Monviso for the past two years. Both great peeps, the kid helped me do some work in preparation for his Dad to put the driveway in. Saw them both many, many days up there in the past year and a half. The boy was a damn good worker, very well mannered, worked side by side with his Dad a lot. I am so heartbroken and sad. PLEASE, NO MORE! RIP Hayden. Thoughts and prayers to Brett and family/friends.:brokenheart:

same hill. 1 year and 4 days later. same conditions. same warnings. SAME RESULTS.

it's time to park the sleds for a while.

Sorry Doug,
But I disagree with that statement. I have 330 miles on my new sled and have yet to hit a hill or be at risk at the base of one.

There are far more meadows and trees than hills. It's all about riding smart and being safe.

You all have seen our posts and believe me, we are having a blast.

Pick and choose where and how you ride. Life is short.

Be fruggin Safe and have fun in these times of danger.

There aint a dad on here whos heart is not breaking!! Now lets stop the f u c king senseless deaths? What will it take? Im not pointing a finger I was not there. When Jacob told me Dannys bro. died in Snake creek I was so pissed I was sure because it was Snake creek it was a avy, turned out to be a terrible accident. Like Phatty said in another post we do need to warn our neighbors, parking lots, sled shops, coffee shops what ever people got to know? You guys remember how hard it was to bury Dave (I know ya do) ok now times that buy 10 (with the avy in Canada)already this year, and the good snow aint even here yet? I had to bury a son, but I didnt watch him die in a avy. For what it is worth Ill pray for this man in hopes his pain will ease in time. I am sorry if I hurt feeling I didnt mean too.

Ron, I assume you meant you disagree with the "park the sleds" comment.

Let me correct myself... If you can't stay away from hills or bases of slopes.... park your sleds!!!! I know you stay away, I stay away and all my riding friends will stay away but lots of people are just not staying out of harms way.THEY need to park 'em. I could ride All year and never intentionALLY be in harms way. Upon review, there are a lot of times us meadow Mod mania guys have a hill above us that could slide on us as we travel to and from. we will never look at the hills the same after this year. nor should we.

Ron, you are still allowed to ride. ;) I'm with you!

It's all good Doug. You know what I'm gettin at.

Allowed to ride?????????

Get your junky azz over to my cabin.
If I don't get 4000 miles on my sled this year I quit. HAHAHAHA

Besides, I need some lessons.:D

RIDE ALIVE

All the Elingford"s are friends of the family. I have tested and tuned my sled on brets fields. This comes as a huge heartbeat and shock to us. The Elingford's are VERY VERY seasond riders and two of the older boys even competition hill climb. Thats what makes this even more shocking, I hate to say it, but they know better than to be where they were.

My heart is blackend tonight and our thoughts and prayers are out to the family. RIP Hayden...................

I have a very heavy heart tonight....for several reasons. I cannot bare even trying to put myself in Brett's place. It would break me, likely beyond my ability to recover! I also realize this will likely not be the last avy death this year, which sickens and saddens me greatly.

We don't have to experience the loss of another friend, family member, or even a new acquaintance we ride with on a certain day, to realize the pain. We can learn vicariously through the pain felt by others. May we all do it better, safer, smarter, and with more caution, awareness, and respect for mother nature. We don't have to lose our passion, but we need to stem the tide of such tremendous loss!!

God bless this family! I can only imagine, but not truly comprehend, their pain and suffering tonight!!!

:brokenheart:

I am sitting here gettting ready to be resposible for 8 guys going riding today. My heart is pretty broken as all I have done for the last hour is read about avalanche deaths and try to offer some kind of condolences.

This is the 12th death by avalanche of a rider or riders that were not climbing!! Just too close to the steep. I had no idea how far an avalanche could runout until a few years ago up farmington Canyon Avalanche Bowl broke and buried a man at the bottom watching his friend climb.

The friend that was buried was parked right where every body has always parked to watch others or take their turn. The safe place that we all had parked was the very place he was buried!! Please stay back!! Go above and beyond to stay safe.

To the family of this precious life. I have four boys and cannot even imagine the pain you are going through right now. I pray that God will comfort you and give you Grace and strength to go forward. Many hearts are mourning with you and praying for you at this most difficult time.

May God Bless You All
