recall on the 2012 pro oil line rubbing

I got a call from my dealer the other day to bring my sled in for an oil line recall.
something about the line rubbing on the bulkhead. Anyway they want me to bring it in. I just thought i would let other know. i guess a zip tie fixes it.

I thought it was only on the 11's.

Nope some ASSemble line employe couldn't get it right some are rubbing some are not.The 11's where missing a wire tie the 12's have too much of a loop causing the oil line to rub the bulkhead but hey it pays an hour to fix or 24 minutes to look to see if it's ok

I got a letter from Polaris on this recall today. I don't know if it's a different line than the one the 11s were having problems with or not. Here is what the card says summed up.

affected models 2012 600-800 PRO RMK/800 RMK Assault

Technical service bulletin S-12-01A

Polaris has determined the panduit strap securing the oil pump oil supply hose to the PTO oil injector hose may be positioned incorrectly allowing the supply hose to rub on the tunnel close-off panel. If the oil pump supply hose is allowed to continue rubbing on the close off panel, an oil leak may develop which may cause severe engine damage.

The dealer will inspect the oil supply hose to determine in the panduit strap is positioned correctly and preventing the hose from coming into contact with the tunnel close off panel.

The inspection procedure is scheduled to take approximately 24 minutes to complete. If the oil supply hose is making contact with the front close off panel the dealer will secure the hose away from the panel. THe repair process is scheduled to take approximately 1 hour to complete. The service work preformed will be at no cost to you at any authorized polaris snowmobile dealership.

Bought my 12 800 in Dec/11, got card today..
Maybe Polaris will get it right for 2013

Do they send a letter directly to you, or is it up to the dealer to let you know? I don't trust my dealer, and I haven't seen a letter yet.

Got mine yesterday, sent to my house. It just a post card, not a full size business letter.

i have not seen nor heard of this. time to call the local dealer. this kind of stuff is such a pain, i keep my sled 4 hours away. where is the hose located? i would like to take a look at it this weekend. and why is it only the pro and assault? i can't see how the standard would be any different.

It's the main oil line located behind the secondary clutch. It sometimes rubs the bulkhead. No biggie.

Its the same line as the 2011's. They didn't put the zip tie in the right spot and some are rubbing. To check yours look at the oil line through the gap between the primary and secondary. You will see if its rubbing the bulkhead or not. Mine was about 1" away.

Could someone post a picture of the proper routing and tie-off, my dealer is a 500 mile round trip.
Looked at mine tonight, pull exhaust can off and look in behind the motor with a flashlight, right under the throttle bodys there is a riveted in piece and the oil line comes from the pump to the pto side but it makes a loop back toward the riveted piece and is rubbing on a sharp edge . the line has wire loom around it but wont last long before leaking. I think a piece of rubber tube around the line and a zip tie to pull it away will do the trick. Rubber tube to keep the tie from rubbing thru line, Very tight area not much room to work. Im going to call my dealer tomorrow to see if they are removing anything for axcess. my dealer is 180 miles away and im not making that drive. our local dealer sucks. Ill try to let you know tomorrow.

Just bought my Pro last tuesday, so it's been sitting on their floor for a while. They've been fixing others and we're half way thru the season so I figured mine was good, wrong.

I called them to ask if they did it and of course not, had to take a brand new sled back in to get a recall sorted.

Am I just an *** or does it seem like they should fix these things when sitting on the floor? Is there nobody to charge the work to or something at that point? Pretty crappy feeling and loss of trust for your dealer when it's known issue and they were to lazy to deal with it.

Also was told all of the Polaris rebates were only for atv's and off season vehicle atm.

I have an amazing sled, but I need to find a new dealer.

Oil pump supply line rubbing

I heard about the recall so I got my bore scope out and started looking for possible problem spots. These pictures are of my oil pump supply line. The line comes out of the oil tank, then down between the throttle boddies and down to the oil pump. You can see where it had rubbed the plastic. My sled had 20 miles on it when I checked this. This is something that definately needs to be corrected.

Called the dealer today. He said they have to fix the oil line ,if the customer does it and there is a problem later they could deny warranty. so asked if they were backed up and he said about a week. he said to go ahead and ride should not wear too much, HA,HA I dont think I want that risk so my bud and I used a large zip tie around the oil line and pulled it toward clutch and tied to motor stop just for a temporary fix until we get ours in .Might be awile .We also looked at the oil line right behind the primary clutch, it goes between the motor and motor stop I slipped a piece of hose cut in half over that line and pushed it down thru to protect that line as it looks likeit could rub also.

So if this line rubs through, what are the steps to repair it? My buddies is in my garage and is is leaking oil from somewhere around the pump. 4 rides on a 2012. Cant tell if it is actually coming from the line, which is definately rubbing on the bulkhead.

the recall came out on January 12, so if you bought the sled before then it wouldn't be done. If the line rubs through the repair is to replace the line and zip tie it where it should be.

i guess i'm going to zip tie it for the time being and bring it in when i can get it home.
