Recall - New Clutch Cover!!

What I want to know is, what are you driving that only gets 6mpg? Seriously though, the dealer installed bit sucks. Especially considering how far apart Cat's dealers are now.

I've been with some poor schmucks that don't even carry spare belts.
Lets put it together... 150 miles one way so 300 miles per visit so, 600 miles total - so easy $200.00 in diesel . Do the math, and that is being very conservative @ 20 mpg.. Lots of hills to climb here at 8,000'

I did find out from another guy-that had his done recently-and took the sled back to the dealer with the shield removed that he had previously installed, dealer didn't care as it was documented that the shield was installed. He told me he used silicone & push darts to cover the holes, from the predrilled brackets. The stock belt guard is still being used in the install so it is retained.

The pic below was when he got the shield installed, and he said dealer told him an adapt is the replacement primary-and not like the ones on the 858..

Hey Crusher does it look like you can change the belt without sled disassembly????😎😎

I'll find out 100% on mine on the 9th of Oct- but the client that brought it in ( I snapped a Picture of HIS above )
Said, there is enough room to thread it around the primary and shove it to the inside of the shield while pulling back on the secondary. I'll see on mine :boxing:

Copy that , my closest Cat dealer( 200 miles away) just informed me he has decided to not work on sleds WTF that's for a different thread coming to a forum near you (soon) 😎😎

Well just talked to my dealer on the clutch guard- and the latest is, a guard can be installed as planned, but primary's are backordered till MARCH !!!!!
SO makes no sense to do the guard with no clutch now at all........ AND the dealer has to physically install and torque the clutch for the recall to be completed- No customer install allowed..

Upsetting- but that is the latest...

Is that using the Team roller as the replacement or a new ADAPT? Since the Team isn't the current production clutch they must not have thought to make a major stocking order for them.

NOPE- It's an Adapt 100%. Dealer confirmed but just didn't know what style- and think it may be the new 858 style and don't have any just stockpiled ...🤷‍♀️

Dang. I really like the team roller tbh... Wouldn't mind having another clutch or two on hand

been carrying a spare around and replacing every 1-1500 miles or so for the last few years. It has worked well for me.

I have a cracked out theory that these clutches will last a long time if they do not reach full shift-out (trail manners - no WOT periods, no speeds over 35) and managing heat on deep days. Can't prove that it works, but I have yet to see a failure amongst myself and friends.

Going on 3 seasons on my adapt since my team cracked-no issues except the roller bushings- but running bronze now, and seem to last pretty good for 10 rides last season.

I could see the heat issue being a culprit. I checked my team pretty religiously between rides and the day mine finally cracked was a day I had some dude on an 850 doo keep challenging me to an uphill race over and over because I kept beating him. we raced like 3-4 times in a row before I said enough was enough. Doing a post ride inspection the next day I found cracks in the sheave. I also felt the team performed better than the adapt I replaced it with.

Did you beat him a little more each race?

Sled goes in on the 10th of October for the clutch recall.... all parts are in. Anyone else have this done yet?
Yanked off my adapt and put the old cracked Team clutch on, put in all the stock weights and spring cause they are picky of any modifications-including pipe and Y pipes /turbo ect ect that is not stock that can raise engine RPM's - fuel controller's of any type..
