Rear Bumpers for the Pro RMKs

Yeah drill the tunnel and rivet from the inside. It's a nice bumper. Is it me or is the tunnel on the Pro 155" just long? I'm guessing commonality with the 163" tunnel and cooler is the reason.

With that cat 162" bumper out even further I would be worried about smacking something wheelieing around and tweaking the tunnel.
I wonder what the cat 153" bumper would look like? I guess a guy could easily cut the longer bumper to their liking.

Nice install Seth

Thanks for the info guy's. What is the going rate on the Edgeworks rear bumper? I like the stock look, just kind of wondering if it is as strong as the Skinz rear bumper. I have a skinz on one of my IQR sleds and it is super strong, but i like the stock look of the Edgeworks.

I want to say it was $125. It comes with the stronger side plates and tube. The other big difference between the edgeworks and stock is how the tube attaches to the side plates. Instead of using two rivets it has a bolt through the side. I am happy with mine.

jd -- (or anyone)....you got a website or phone # for Edgeworks?....googled it but cant find anything.

thanks

I used a bumper from BDX and had it powder coated, looks great and seems super strong.

Looks like this bumper would solve the problem of the Carbon Fiber stock bumper (breaks like a dry branch when you bump it), and at the same time provide some additional tunnel rigidity...? Hummm...this could be a win-win!

Where did you get this and what was the cost?

Just in case you guys aren't familiar, that bdx bumper looks like the exact piece that they have sold for years to go on a tunnel update for pre 2009 arctic cat M's. Not sure what they are selling them for $ wise but the stock cat bumper does the same deal. The bdx/cat aluminum is pressed differently and the stock cat bumper is straight across the back where the bdx has a "V" to it. Not exactly sure which is stronger. Either looks like a direct fit depending on your style preference.

Here is their site. I just gave them a call and they sent one out right away. They sent one out for a 162 so you do have to cut it down to the deisred length. I just measured how far out the stock one was from the end of the tunnel. I beleive the costs are on the site. The width of the Pro tunnel is 16" must be the same with AC cause it does fit perfectly. You do have to trim off the little lip or whatever you want to call it on your current tunnel. BTW it looks awesome in person!

Looks like there are several options on the site...not sure which one is the correct bumper. Can you point me in the right direction? Are they indeed $250.00 ?

FCR112:
Is there a link to the one you are talking about?

Cheers!

Timbre--I had to call them because I wasn't sure how wide they were (yet). I can't remember who I talked to you but your best bet is to give them a call. Tell them you need one of their bumpers that is 16" wide because if I remember right the 1M bumpers are wider. I'd specify how long you want it as well so they now to send you the long bumper so you can cut it down. They do send rivets for it, which is nice cause they have to be really short. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly what I paid for it but I thought it was less than $250. I think it was less than $250 becuase the price listed might be for more than just the bumper. I hope this helps...any other ?'s just ask.

IMO
If they are charging 250 for just the bumper you are getting royally skrewed.
I'd get one from cat they are about 1/3 that cost and are as strong or stronger seeing as it is straight rather than a "v" design

I really like the looks of the COBE bumper, but unfortunately it appears it will partially block the tail light...?

I'm not real wild about this bumper at all. The side brackets don't look any stronger than stock, and whats with the two bars?? I must be missing some detail??:face-icon-small-sho

I had the coBe bumper on my last Dragon, in fact those pictures are of it, the reason for the two bars is so that the bottom bar keeps the snowflap from going completly up against the bumper so you can get your hands in on the bumper even when stuck. It might partially block the tail light but not enough where I ever worried about it or ever had a problem with it.

Since Eric(MH), mentioned mine..this is what I will be running on mine this winter..And right away this isnt for everyone....we pull tow sleds loaded with as much as 60 gallons of fuel per sled out to our cabins 50 miles from the road....so these are designed and built to make the whole tunnel stout..yet try to keep the weight down...now..its easy enough to lighten up these by using thinner materials...as for stock tunnel strength and with some of the bracing/bumpers I have seen...if you bottom the suspension very hard with even 15 pds on the tunnel close to the seat back you may/can buckle the tunnel, the long bumpers/ small reinforcment plates will strengthen the area between the bumper and the rear suspension mnts..but the tunnel will then fold in front of the rear suspension mnts(this I know from experience from the dragon days)..If I have the money this fall(money is tight this season for me it looks like)I will be completley removing the stock boards/sides and installing just the new sides I built with a skinz airframe type board assembly...if I cant afford to do that then my stuff will go right over the stock sides and then add a betterboards style insert to the existing boards..weight wise, (I havent weighed these but they are pretty light) but on my dragon my sides/boards with rear suspension mnts only added a couple pds over stock weight and lost weight over stock with polaris steel hitch bumper setup...
