Really Snowest? Where do you guys crap

Supposedly in the deep powder challenge you posted sled girth at foot position as

PC 36
Pro 35.5
XM 36.5

Did you use the tape you gave your wife?

I don't know 100% on the XM and Pro as of 2014 but I know the PC didn't change one bit on this measurement.
If you put a tape under the Boards and measure running board width where the plastic meets the boards its 33" on the PC.
The last measurement I took on a pro and XM (last year demo's) are

XM 35
PC 33
Pro 29

Thus making the pro the best narrow sled for the steepest sidehills and why I modified my PC to the same width. Not only does it make a huge difference, it works a 100% for this riding style and turned my sled into a true extreme backcountry capable sled much like the Pro.

So apparently someone took notice and made up some ridiculous numbers to fool the part of the public that actually believes this propaganda.
What ever happened to pointing out the Honest strong points and weaknesses.
Like the pro is the most capable stock sled for the most extreme backcountry riding
The Pro-Climb, the best of all worlds for 95+% of riders but not the best in some, its a amazing sled but in the most extreme it needs a little work but don't worry most of you wont know.
The XM, well its a lot better than the XP so if you like that you will love this one.
Yami, it is what it is, be happy for that.

Everyone has there style and preference and I'm not bashing any of them because they all have very strong points for ppls riding style, other than some cats eat belts faster than you can buy them (but thats a personal issue apparently)
All I'm saying is I can have a blast on any of them and am not bias (maybe a little sarcasm, lol), I just know my style and what I want, I also Know the measurements and that article is a straight up misleading piece of propaganda!

Even if there is some way you found the sled girth to be those measurements it is 100% misleading!!!! The width that matters is the one that makes first contact with the snow on a sidehill!!

Disclaimer
ALL IN ITS JUST "IMO" because these days ppl just can't handle the facts and its a everybody wins mentality.

I doubt they are measuring it from the running boards, they are probably taking the measurement from the bulkhead seeing as that is where the girth of the sled really is and its only where the sleds are hanging up on side. Because of the clutches, they can only get them to be so narrow, however Polaris has definitely trimmed their bulk the most in that area. JMTs....

So Jordan what were your measurements? How close are they really? Guy I ride with has a 12 PC and a 10 m8 and still feels the m8 handles steep sidehills better and says he is more comfortable on the m8 overall., but the PC is better all around sled for all situations.

The M is 30" and I would agree with your statement for the most part other than the M being more comfortable, I think it is on steeper slopes but not overall.

I think your right. But when I have also made a HUGE deal about it on snowest do you think its just a fluke they post numbers like that so it appears different than reality. (maybe)
I have thought past articles and things said where just as dumb, but this one is not going past me without letting others know the truth.
Sled girth has "NO VALUE" in this aspect.

I will also stand behind the advantages of a narrower sled like the pro and my modded PC 100% and willing to prove the others wont do what they will. Something should be pointed out and said about it because poo straight up targeted this aspect and deserves credit.

I can measure a Pro and a XM tomorrow. I' m not clear what Im measuring....sounds like widest point of runnng board?
Whats that supposed to tell us? They are under the snow half the time.

Denial:D

it tells us how soon the boards and panels hit the snow, the wider it is the lesser of a hill you can sidehill before they start to drag or the sled washes out. Don't get into who can or can't sidehill, I'm talking specifically geometry.

Our owner was one of the test riders. All of the riders were dudes that had no affliation to SW. They were just....dudes.

The Cat was the favorite of our owner and he owns every sled BUT a cat! he just assumed from word on the street that the cat wasn't that good. After he rode them side by side. it was a whole new game for him. he really liked the cat. The other guys at the shoot kinda thought the same to. He said it was one of the most interesting rides he had ever been one. To jump from one to the other was an eye opener.

SW may not get it right all the time and frankly...they can't control what these guys say. Kind of dangers for the manufacturers!!!

Anyways.....Just some thoughts on it.

I thought those numbers all seemed a bit too close....there is a noticeable difference in width between the legs and running board width riding the 3.

Wyo I get what you are saying about accurate info. But the other measurement you need to take into account is the front track. The relationship of the ski to the edge of the running board is really what determines panel out. Not just how wide the boards are. The other factor is how the skid reacts to the sidehill. If the sled sidehills "flat" it will panel out earlier, if it sidehills with the skid "down"(which nearly all sleds do on the really steep stuff) far enough the skis are airborne pretty much and then the sled is not panelling out and the running board width to skid is the more important factor. And then the amount of counter steer it takes to hold sidehill start to come into play as the ski behind the spindle to the boards is the determining factor. Much more complicated than you make it.

Do you really think I haven't factored in all that and a few things you didn't mention. (its why the pro works, why my steering is far more than any other PC, my boards and panels, my seat, my handle bars, etc.....) This is specific information I'm talking about, so don't get sidetrack with what is or isn't. The fact is the measurements I posted make a huge difference in some riding styles and are required to ride the way I ride in order to stay in control. Lets keep it to the one thing at a time on this one and in this case its the bottom of the panels and boards that make a huge factor in sidehilling.

It's not what anyone said that he's disagreeing with, it's specific measurements. I doubt they had the test riders go out there with a tape measure to do them... they did them themselves.

im done with this thread.dumb.who cares?ride with a set of balls and be a better rider instead of comparing widths.im guna start a thread for d*ck size if its a big deal!!!!

I can understand how someone that does not know how to use the sled its full potential would make a statement like that. Don't worry I factored in that.

If you dont like the way they were measured do it your self but make sure some one cares PLEASE STOP BEING A PITA ON THE SITE ! IF ALL YOU ARE TRYING TO DO IS RASE HELL GO OVER TO HCS OR SNOWN MUD ..

with all due respect..i think its the members that should be making the assumptions that you are assuming,,i think you are abit out of place with your statement..

The interaction of the discussion is relevant to the thread,it is not being forced into a differant subject matter..

you need a spanking...

I'm not trying to raise HeII, some of you get way to uptight. Its just my opinion.
But I have a question?

What is the relevance of measuring the girth of the body, I can see how all other measurements have a place. ???? Please do explain

All I see is a deceiving number that makes them look equal and in fact they are no where near equal.

I've been trying to keep it to one specific subject here, so either explain or you are just adding to the others that have no subject matter to present and thus causing more of a fuss than I am.
