real world clutching vs axys manual

Would like to hear back on this, how many miles and hours do you have on it, thanks!

I rode this afternoon with the pipe on. Really like the pipe, noticeable power increase especially in the mid range. Kept everything the same but went up 2 grams on the weights (64g). Sled was running 8,200 to 8,300 rpm. I'm at about 100 miles and around 3 hours.

This pipe might actually be a big improvement over stock especially after you are completely out of break in, hopefully then you can pull the 8300 to 8400 rpm! Thanks

In ReTodd's other thread he said it was the Gates Carbon (IIRC) Part Number 44C4553. Be sure you are getting the "C" as they make a G also, that is not Carbon corded. If you look you can find the "C"s for $75-$80 online, Dobeck stocks them and has them on E-Bay and is typically the cheapest or very close to the Discount brokers.

I have not heard any bad reviews on this Gates G2 Carbon belt yet, whether run on a PRO or an AXYS, TRS has mentioned this belt will let you know if your clutching is correct. FWIW

I am running this one as well. I couldn't believe the price I was quoted for the Polaris one. They are proud of those things. I don't believe they own a belt factory so more than likely they are all made in one or two plants anyway. Measurements are right on.

Here is some info on the Gates Carbon: http://www.gobigparts.com/GATES-G-FORCE-CARBON-DRIVE-BELT-377288.html

Just put on 80 km over the weekend.. my axys pulls 8100 buddys same sled pulls 8350-8400. His has better track speed for sure. You can fell the difference... I'll be spinning mine at that rpm next time.

Yes stock yes mds weights about 68g. I'm just leaving it like this tell the brake in is done. I got 6 hours. On it. My buddies sled has 20 hours. It took tell about 12-14 to pull 75g mtx. On his sled. His is stock also.

3500-5500' I'm trying a different set up to get my rpm up to 8300-8350.

As per my posting above- the track speed with 2.25 8 tooth is killer against a stock 64 gram wt running sled- all around 10,000'
The BB's weights make it pull harder in the mid-with not as much tip weight-
Spinning the stock above the " Suggested" ( where ever that RPM came from) 8150-8200 is leaving power on the table..IMHO
Re-gearing this weekend (2.33) to record difference on my sled v.s. stock Axys- have a Helix I am going to try also

Had 4 sleds out this weekend:
Stage 3 SLP(pipe /head/ SLP clutching)
Stage 2 SLP (pipe / Vohk clutching)
Stock Axys
Stock 14 Pro RMK
all axys over 3 hours and 100 miles.

First off the SLP kits on the axys flat rip. Riding the stock axys and the SLP sleds back to back was noticeably different.

The Stage 3 pulled harder through mid till it maxed out at 8200, enough to notice vs the stage 2 but was only turning 8200 at 11k feet WFO.
The Stage 2 was turning 8400 on the nose and felt super strong WFO.
Both those SLP sleds made the stock axys seem weak until you jumped on the 14 Pro. Then you realized just how awesome the new motor is.

I think there is power still to be gained via clutching over the SLP recommendations on the stage 3. Its dang close though. Don't know whats in Vohk stage 2 sled.

Need few more storms to fine tune that stage 3. Tri City Performance has been spot on for me with clutching the last couple of years.
