real world clutching vs axys manual

What size weights? I guess I still don't know what's in them. What rpm are they supposed to turn?

They come out of the crate with 64s for 6 to 8000 feet. According to the manual i should be using 67 grm at 4 to 5000 feet. Hot pipe calls for 8250, cold pipe we should target 8000 rp,m. I loaded my weights again today to 70,5grm, now every hole has 2 magnets in them, was told by bikeman if more is needed, to add towards the tip.

Snobyrd, how many magnets do you have loaded per hole? I have a set in my Pro I'll be removing to run in the Axys next week, curious what setup they need, be 3500-7000'. Be nice to have a starting point, appreciate any help!

I felt like the stock belt slipped and then rev'd good....was almost like spool up when you hammered it....shoot to 8450 then settle to 8150ish.

Went with another belt and it doesn't spool anymore.

Rt

First ride was 1211 66.9 grm starting from the pin, top end sucked
2nd ride 1222, 69.1 grm much harder pull, still over reving.
Now iv gone 2222. 70.5 grm but haent tried them yet
Eleavation is 4500, hope this helps, post your observations pls

Sounds like there may be some wonky belts out there? Inconsistant?
Buddy's all stock 163 2.6 at 5-8000 alt runs perfectly, 8200-8300 depending on altitude and consistant.

Now that there are lots of options for the Axys sleds, I would think that the clutching may not be "perfect" for all of them. (Chaincase 163 3" should need different clutching than belt drive 155 2.4?)

Stock belt lasted me 180 miles. Put on a cat belt 048 and it lasted about 50 miles (breaking trail in 5 feet of snow). The cat belt had slightly lower rpm (8250) than the stock Polaris belt (8400).

How many grams are u using?

I'm just using stock weights for now. I have an slp pipe I'll be adding very shortly. I was just going to add heavier stock weights with the pipe. Riding around 4000-6500 feet.

In ReTodd's other thread he said it was the Gates Carbon (IIRC) Part Number 44C4553. Be sure you are getting the "C" as they make a G also, that is not Carbon corded. If you look you can find the "C"s for $75-$80 online, Dobeck stocks them and has them on E-Bay and is typically the cheapest or very close to the Discount brokers.

I have not heard any bad reviews on this Gates G2 Carbon belt yet, whether run on a PRO or an AXYS, TRS has mentioned this belt will let you know if your clutching is correct. FWIW

We are finding these sleds need more weight then what the manual is calling for. I went to some adjustable series 10 weights.
my 163 X3 on my 14 pro took 10-58's to turn 8350 where I ride. My 163x3 axys had 10-64's in it last weekend and was over reving, put 66's in last night :) Find out in the morning. Eric

Riding at 8-10,000 ft.
first 1/2 of day was clearing logs from some of our routes. Got back to some good snow where we could finally makes some big pulls and with the 66's in I was hitting 8600! YIKES. Switch to 68's and its spot on 8350, this is where I like them to run. RPM stays rock solid the whole time, stock belt yet. My sled does have an SLP pipe on it now. Buddys stock sled with the same 163x3 was turning 8400 with 64's once he passed the 2.7 hour mark. According to the manually he should have 10-62's in and is all ready over reving with 10-64's in it. Its looking like once they are broke in you need about 4 grams more then the set-up sheet calls for. Eric

By any chance , did youu check clutch temps?

I did not, but the primary was not hot at all when I made the weight change. One thing I did notice is i'm getting a lot more shift out in the primary (sharpie mark) then I did with my 14pro with 7t drivers. I think the gear on the 3" is great. Eric

I was out riding again today ,eleavation aprox 4500 feet,70.5 grm weights, and depending what throttle position im in,ad go full thtottle from there, im seeing 8250 to 8400.
My sons new 0hr 163 with 70.5 slp weights was hitting 82 to 8300, i think were getting close to the limits now. The slp weight appears to create a nice strong bottom end

Has anyone tried going to a lighter finishing rate on the primary spring? Or is adding heavier weights the better way to get belt grip?

Stock spring is a 120/310 BLK, SLP recommends switching to a Blue/Pink 140/340 for both stock and single SLP pipe applications.
