real world clutching vs axys manual

Accc ccording to the manual i should be using 66 to 68 grms for 4-5000 feet. Ive got bikeman adj weights with 69.1 grms with the magnets equally distributed in holes 2,3,4 starting from the pin hole and 1 mag in numer 1 hole. Throughout the bottom to upper mid range im reving 83,8400, on the up shift. I was talking to geo last night and hes wondering if we are experiencing belt slip due to harder compound belt. Can others chime in and share thier clutching observations. On the 13 pro i found the weight recommendation from the manual accurate

With belt slippage you have hot clutches right? You get a chance to feel how hot the clutches were? My 13 ran awsome with stock clutching!:face-icon-small-coo

Did you weight your weights with the magnets in or just go by what BMP says they weight.
Something isnt adding up. your not going to run 69 grams of weight at 5000 ft unless you changed springs, or helix or something else to go along with it.
If you put in a stiffer finish spring rate in the primary I could see that maybe??

I weighed the weights, 69.1 all else is stock with a can

I run mds weights set at 68g. @ 4000-5000' runs 8200 rpm. No slip with the stock belt.revs right to 8200 and stays there. But I got 3.3g in base and 4.8g in tip. I'm trying the gates belt this weekend to see if there is any difference.. and sled only has 2.2 hours on it.

Buddy runs 10 series 66g same 4000-5000'.. his rpm are 8200-8300. He does not think his slips.

I just talked to bikeman, he said profile is the same and advisd to keep adding weight towards the tip, he figures i have a strong running sled.

Does the AXYS have a harder belt compound?

Has it been confirmed that there is actually "harder belt compound" on the AXYS belts and if so... what was the test ?

.

I did a pre season check on my buddy Seans AXYS before he headed out of town...

His deflection was WAY off... and... the clutches and belt had some sort of oil-ish/waxy film on them... I pulled the belt... washed it with Super-clean/hot-water/stiff-brush... then wax and grease remover on the clutch faces... followed by scotch brite and then a final wipe with acetone on clean cloths till no residue... put it all back together.

While in there... I popped in 2 delrin washers between the spring cup and clutch on his secondary.... and re-torqued his primary...set the tension on his track... greased the heck out of the rear skid, silicone on the exhaust donuts.... all the boring stuff.

He also had the shock oil changed out to Amsoil "shock therapy"... but I didn't do that for him... good idea though for a better shock longevity.

I was impressed with the improvement in build quality of the sled from the previous generation.

I dont know if the compound is different but my next ride ill try a new 13 belt and see if the rpms reflect a different compound. I remember back in 94 cat had a 10 and 12 belt, both same length but different compound, the softer one that i used outpreformed the harder compound and lasted half as long but also outpreformed the harder belt, im hoping thats the case with the 13

We are finding these sleds need more weight then what the manual is calling for. I went to some adjustable series 10 weights.
my 163 X3 on my 14 pro took 10-58's to turn 8350 where I ride. My 163x3 axys had 10-64's in it last weekend and was over reving, put 66's in last night :) Find out in the morning. Eric

Also,wats your eleavation?

Change to the 3211115 belt. The new belt def slips. Talked to Indydan about it already. He's selling a clutch kit to bite that belt harder. But with the 115 belt it's perfect ;)

My stock clutching and belt are working perfectly at 10-12,000 ft. It is pulling 8200 and holding it in the deep snow. On the way down the trail on harder pack running down to about 9000 feet I can see 83-8400 which is all very similar to how my '14 was clutched.
