Real 850 Feedback from you guys!

I did notice the footwell loading, might need the vent kits there too. There were several times I openeed the side panel and snow was on the air box, had to go in the upper holes.

We knocked down all the powder so others won't have that problem for a few days anyway :face-icon-small-ton

Mike taylor makes footwell vents.

(Personally I just use black plastic and completely cover the left side)

I've been watching this thread and the "850 down already" thread since the start. Not to take anything away from the viewpoints and knowledge that have been shared in the other thread, but I've been more interested in hearing what people who have run this sled have to say about it than people that are riding it from their couch at home. That said, anyone else find it peculiar that the thread about "what if" has 73000 views, 683 comments, and the thread about "this is what i've seen, this is my experience" only has 7000 views, 80 comments? Almost as if people are hoping this sled is a hand grenade... almost as if the guys that ride the other brands are trolling around here.... Maybe I'm wrong and it will be a terd, but I love hearing about all your experiences, good and bad. I'm a couch rider for another week and living vicariously through you all. Thanks guys!

Bad news sells.
If u go on social media and tell everyone what a good time ur having and everything is great. U will get bashed for bragging and boasting.. can't win with positive posts.

I think the 2019 850 as a whole, is the best sled Polaris ever built.
There will be some teething issues as with most everything.
The bearing issues are real. They are also an easy fix And 4 yr warranty!

Ride the hell out of them and enjoy the time in the mountains with friends and family because that is what it's all really about anyway.

Could not agree more!! I have owned first year Pro, AXYS and now 850. Polaris has taken care of me/sleds issues and I am sure all of us with the 850's will be taken care of when-if issues arise. Since 2011 we (wife or myself) have missed very little time on the snow due to problems, retired and ride a lot.
The 850 is an incredible sled and a blast to ride, the wife is stoked about a sled for the first time ever and her riding ability (improvement) show just how much easier this sled is to ride for a small woman.
We (first year 850) could be the lucky ones and get the upgrades from warranty after some hard use in the mountains. JMHO

Had a good day still running. I do have an oil leak from the tank will investigate it this morning. I've been playing with suspension. The rear shock and spring actually is setup for a larger person I've had to loosen the tension than from factory some. Pounded it though some whoops testing it. I'll give it a 8 out of 10 for a factory setup. I have mono tubes up front.

Myself and two other guys (all 3 have new 850’s) went out for a ride to get some seat time since we finally got some good snow in Michigan’s U.P.. snow was wet and heavy. All 3 sleds ran great. No issues whatsoever. All sleds have between 4-6 hours now... I didn’t notice the lazy bottom end down at the low elevation, but I am running the Indy Specialties Full Patriot kits and it makes a huge difference over the one completely stock setup and the other sled running the Indy Specialties V-1 weights w/ the rest factory components. Can’t wait to see what the 850 does on boost[emoji108]

I have about 19 hours, 200 miles. 163x2.6 Indy specialty full clutch kit , pro gears and raptor kinetic series shocks all around. The new 36" front end makes the 850 fell sooo much better alot less effort for sure. It took around 150 ish miles/15hrs. for the 850 to fell strong, it's a very smooth power delivery. The torque is very nice making rpm and track speed recover very good. The stock clutching is not the best and makes the 850 fell kind of lame. More of a revy feel and does not have the arm stretching low end pull of a good clutched 850. My only complaint is the very rich bottom end about the 4500-5500 range.

Your setup sounds almost identical to mine. How are your RPM’s doing now that you have some hours and gearing done?

It seams good, and feels strong. 8000-8100 right out the hole and will climb to 8200-8300 when holding it full out.

Full day in really good snow today. Don’t judge it running on roads or mellow/flat meadows..feels a lot like an 800 in those circumstances. We were climbing some steep stuff in fresh snow today and it was ripping...very impressed. Gaining speed where an 800 axys would be maybe maintaining speed. Got away with some seriously lazy moves in techy spots and it bailed me out. 6 something hours on this one ...still blubbery / loads up a bit in the low/mid when you spend some time there. Rips on top. Remembered to look at the gauge once and saw 8100 ish. Might try centering the ski spacers as oppressed to full narrow. 163x3 isn’t quite as well balanced/rounded as the 2.6” ...but hooks up super quick for little poppers. Like it. Coles notes - had a damn blast

Right out of the box sled was stupid rich. No oil in tank, sled would load up and nearly die. Every ride out now the sled is doing better. Currently at 97 miles and 5 hrs. Hoping that it will clean up more after the 10 hour mark. Stronger than my 18 800 right now. React front end is by far the best stock suspension Polaris has put out. Overall very happy.

I think everyone should post the hrs along with the miles on the sled.
It represents how the sled is ridden.

9 hrs 100 miles

No issues, zero, runs very strong and getting stronger, very noticeable difference than my 18, hate to say but fingers crossed every ride.

I have 180 miles at 7.5 hours oil tank issue seems to be cap. Pulling stronger each time out. I have a concern about this motor that it does not run warm enough 92 to 95 in good snow most going done trail was 105 with no scratchers. At this temp cold seize could be a problem. I like the timed shut off at idle in five minutes mines was at 115. Restarted and warmed up to 145 each time I've left the trailer for breakin reasons. Getting the suspension dialed. Will ride the shocks till I feel them fall off. Then replace. I have electric start first time on a sled I like it so far. Cheers and happy new year.

160 miles. 50 boosted. I stand by my first thoughts...

The first 100 I was pretty underwhelmed. Its got more umph than the 800 up top, but the 800 spooled faster and had a more snappy bottom end. I suppose it depends how you ride but if I had an 800, and lost a chunk of change to go to the 850, I'd be bummed.

Handling is okay. I still need more time to workout the narrower front end as I'm still often giving the sled more input than I need to be. I think after a few more weeks, I'll like the 37" a-arm configuration however.

Boosted, well, she's a beast. But that's really not the point of this review is it ;) - has an entirely different feeling than the 800 HO motor, and I'm able to run less boost for the same overall performance, which did surprise me. Under boost the sled feels like it builds boost slower, but drag racing 800 HOs that are boosted would suggest otherwise - No question the sled feels like it has more in the mid range, which I love.

Going to be playing with a few helixes to get it super dialed, but I'm happy with the sled. Just not sure I'm so happy that I'd tell someone to ditch their 800HO for the 850

20 hrs on mine zero probs sled shure makes a huge diffrencce when break in mode is done... sometimes do get water in the clutches on big pow days but no big deal.. sled pulls way stronger than the 800, i like the new front end too.. it is a noticable diffrence from a 2018 800... just wish they came with colour matched hoods not just the black ones..

First ride on mine today. Got about 60 miles and everything worked beautifully. Started first pull every time, never bogged out on me. I tried to keep moving pretty good all day after a few heat cycles.<div>No complaints so far. Can't wait to get out of break in. If it holds together it's going to be a fun sled(coming off a 16 Axys 800 for comparison)</div>

Great info guys!!

As you get more miles, please report back in, and yes report good and bad.

Thanks again!
