Real 850 Feedback from you guys!

I've had two rides so far, 3.4 Hrs on my SKS 850 155". As others have said, I wasn't impressed with the engine at first, I love the suspension, it's like night and day compared to my 2014 Pro.

My engine has been bogging down quit a bit, hopefully this is just a break in thing. I didn't put oil in my first tank of fuel as others have said, hopefully this doesn't affect anything. Sled is still completely stock and I'm still running in the ETH setting.

Sorry I did not read any of the other post if this was discussed all ready. I rode my friends last week in the snowies. I believe it was still in break in mode. It had a hesitation when you grabbed the throttle. I adjusted the secondary as belt was a tad low but still had hesitation. Maybe something with the pig rich breakin mode? Did not feel that much stronger then 800 but again break in mode. It definitely has some snort to pull 66 gram weights at 10000 ft. I thought i saw 7900 on tach and i know my 800 wont spin 66 even close to 7900 @ 10000 ft. Thats all i know!

Nope. BROAD powerband at the top.
8000-8500 is the target.

I saw peak hp after break in was 8150 and tq was 8000 with hot pipe and warm motor. I would shoot for that 8100. 8500 she is falling off to much and getting to far away from tq. Just my 02. Plus i guess im an old school clutch guy and like to lug the motor a bit.

That is likely due to the over rich map. If you have non ethanol fuel, make sure to take it out of ethanol fuel mode

Unless you're running Eth fuel, I'd be switching out to the non-eth program.
You're adding extra fuel, onto of the extra fuel already being delivered via the break in map...

Yea I probably should not even of posted that as my friend was stuck again (he sucks)!! I pulled up and he was wedged in some trees so i helped move the sled around and he asked me to drive it out. I did not give it back to him for 45 minutes and left him my axys. lol I only looked at the tach a couple times in 45 minutes and did not notice how many hours or if it was in ETH mode. I really cant figure out all these guys that are tree riding and looking at the tach for rpm? I have no time for that, too busy dodging stuff.

HOT pipe 8300 (Not DTR "hot"). Cold 8100. I'm clutching for 8250-8300

Im very satisfied with the new facelift. Feels alot more nimble and easy to control. Motor has some nice grunt also. Would like a pipe and properly setup tune tho... But then again im used to a turbo'd axys :face-icon-small-ton

Some seriously ****ty snow conditions in Sweden right now. So i could probably be driving a 440 fan cooled indy and still get along fine :face-icon-small-sad
But here is some driving atleast. Pretty much stock except for some minor clutch changes.

I have 77 miles almost out of gas power is smooth 8100 was max rpm at 7700 ft mine is not rich on bottom end has not fouled a plug or flooded yet running in premium mode. Also mixing in 1.5 oz of oil per gallon of gas using ski doo mineral oil. Ran it wide open for 20 to 25 seconds today. Tomorrow I'll still take it easy some then it's game on. One thing add I weigh 250 so I tightened the rear spring up 1/2 in that was to much going back to factory for tomorrow. Front shocks feel ok but I'm used to raptors.

But in ethanol fuel mode, it only adds fuel right? Not extra oil. It would still help but I think the oil is rich too.

Just curios if after breakin you kept track of oil ratio to gas. Just to see where these are set at.

I am admittedly saying I was not to impressed with this 850 for the first 50 miles but after that this thing just seems to really be a beast with each mile I put on.
I’m at 185 miles now and this thing is really waking up.
During break in I had one instance where it didn’t want to start without applying throttle but other than that no hiccups
It’s got the TKI on the 3” 155”.
And a Can. I am truely Impressed by this sled.

3rd day on mine yesterday 162 3.2, avid extros, pro gears stock clutching riding 8-9000 ( dubois) 9.9 hrs 130 miles it is really waking up 8300-8500 in powder climbs with 66's. Not as zippy on the bottom end as the light cranked piped 800 but way better everywhere else in the power band. I wouldn't go back to my piped 17 162 X3. ( The first day I would have) but now now it's a power House.

My wife has a 155 2.6 set in the narrow position with Carl cut ppros and absolutely loves it she was riding way better yesterday. Said she can make this sled do what ever she wants compared to her 17.

As long as the motor holds together HOME RUN as far as I'm concerned.

155 miles, 15.5 hours. Stock 163 2.6 track. Really woke up after ~12 hours. Before that thought it was more nimble than my 2014 pro 163 with stage 3 kit and 3" with avid drivers. But about the same power/Tq.

The last ride it was amazing! Track works well, probably as good or better than the extreme 3". Engine pulled very hard... been breaking single track trail in powder and boondocking meadows. Not many times I have enough room for full throttle, 3/4 torque is awesome for tight adventuring where it will get you out of trouble without a full throttle out of control manuver. On a tight little climb, I do every couple rides, with a series of steep treewell turnouts, it got me into the technical stuff so quick and smoothly... I had to purposly stick it as I am out of vertical treewell turnout practice so soon in the season. You know the ones your buddies can't come to help if they wanted to... but an easy roll from near vertical to get out.

Only complaint is it gets a lot of powder in the engine compartment that melts into a lake under the clutches. While sharp turn boondocking, i would get the "wounded seal" noise from a slipping belt. I tightened the deflection to lower the belt slip to the point of squeeling, without the self-drive at idle. Have to watch out if I put a new belt on in the field.

I'm a bigger guy so I will add a turn to the rear track shock now that the trail woops are forming and to ballance the ski pressure.

Sorry no rpm monitoring... when we get better snow coverage I will be able to properly check that.

Looks to be a great sled... it has to be because a tow out would be very difficult and we have a huge cougar protecting our trail head, so camping out might be risky:face-icon-small-win

For your “wounded seal” noise I always run the frogskinz hood vent kit. It keeps things nice and dry under the hood.

99% of the time snow getting in there is through the footwell.

I did notice the footwell loading, might need the vent kits there too. There were several times I openeed the side panel and snow was on the air box, had to go in the upper holes.

We knocked down all the powder so others won't have that problem for a few days anyway :face-icon-small-ton
