so is aluminum not strong enough? thats why you used stainless? i like it, just wondering if the diamond s boards that i want will fit with that plate.

I dont know, good question......i dont have there a diamods boards for make a test

And for the material, the OEM plates are in aluminum, and they warp. To be sure of the stiffness, the ss seem to be a good choice. No rust, good looking and rigidity. Ok, .100 of inch can be over killl, but more is better than not enough!:face-icon-small-win

Aluminum against steel.....doesn't that create some sort of increased corrosion? I remember something about that in my "strengths of materials" class I had in college...

Edit:

Here's what I found after a quick google:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f4/is-stainless-steel-corrosive-to-aluminum-49955.html

Some sort of impermeable but lightweight barrier between the two pieces would be helpful, but you're still going to have galvanic corrosion at the rivets/fasteners. Maybe the cold temps will slow the rate of corrosion by keeping the moisture in ice form, but this is a perfect setup for galvanic corrosion.
