Anyone want to start doing weekend reports on RE? It could help us decide when it's worth the drive time.

I am riding the Snowies on Saturday. Trying to decide I hit RE on Sunday or head home on Saturday.

1/16/11 - brutal ice storm that required goggle scraping, powder well tracked
1/23/11 - perfect blue bird, fresh powder in all directions

Thanks

Rabbit Ears is always worth the drive, you sometimes just have to look for the untouched stuff, Saturday was great, lots of sun and lots of untouched powder.. Another storm on the way...

My daughter and I went up today and rode with PJ. It was damn warm; snow was pretty setup. The forecast I saw calls for 7-13" in the next day or so, though..

According to certain people .... people posting 'reports' of RE is what is causing RE to be destroyed ...

I have to admit, I agree. We don't need RE to turn into the snowies do we? :face-icon-small-sho:D

It was fun today, but the snow was hard and had a 1-2" hard crust under the soft stuff that the sun got. 30° daytime temps on a sunny day paired up with -15° temps at night ruin things pretty quick.

Already done

Don't you guys remember when Bush used to post "live on rabbit ears" while he was there. Lot of dudes complained but It was not like the whole world showed up.

Hey wait a minute, weren't you the one complaining about how people "reporting" on RE makes it a ****hole to ride and too many pricks show up there and everything, and how last weekend there wasn't a single CO plate in the MC lot, blah blah blah, etc? :)

What I've learned about the ears is that there is always a lot of untracked snow and if you want a halfway decent parking spot on a weekend, arrive before 10am.

RE is busy because the area has had the best year in over a decade. All you need to do is follow the SNOTEL website to see that. This corresponds with a lot of our neighboring areas having pretty poor years and well, people go where the snow is.

Dude I try to be there by 8:00 am even LOL ... You're SOL by 9:00am at MC and if you are lucky you can still get into Dumont by 10:00am :)

Exactly! That's why Matt has been up there, it's why we have been up there. The snow down South sucks, gotta go where the snow is.

Jeebus christ Dog, you gotta problem? ride Utah for crying out loud. you are right there :)
