Did you see what "AK" posted? "In my opinion if you ride that low of elevation you do not need to gear down"
MAYBE you're better off spending your $$ on a different, more effective mod?

2XM3 are you running stock 163 2.6? Also what's your track speed before and after pro pulley install?
I'm running 17 axys with same pipe and can as you with stock clutching.
Pulling 8300 rpm @ 9000' with 64g poo weights 31 mph track speed
Running a 162 X3 3" extro's thou with stock axys belt drive

Yes stock 163 track on it, never checked the track speed,I usually just clutch by the rpm and how it acts/feels till I like it. I should have looked at it just to post up to get better comparison, my gut feeling in a good climb track speed would be near or exactly the same, clutch would just backshift a tad less. I'm also a big boy, 6'6" 290 dressed so for me the gears help the "pull" on the bottom quite a bit. plus it a really cheap mod, 100 bucks for pulley set on ebay, try them, sell for 100 easy if its not for you.
Oh you might try the same setup with a 56/38 .36 helix and black purple spring, may give you a bit more top end with the taller lugs, then weight primary to run at 8400, just a thought

So I should be receiving my Pro gears on Monday and my ? is how many of you used the Axyz bolt again or did you buy new bolt for the lower drive . If you replaced it where did you get it from and what size is it.
Okay that is what I was thinking but thought I better clear it up for me and some others.

What would the final drive ratio be with pro pulleys and 8 tooth 2.86 drivers? 2.09...~2.35? Been reading around and done nothing but confuse myself.
2.09 are 2.10 the same as a pro rmk, I switched my 600 axys back to pro rmk axle and pulleys running axys belt. lost a little low end but reduced drag big time. And seems to get on the snow slightly better.
This! My stock Axys churs at 82mph in 1:1 clutch ratio!?? That seems pretty high, does it not? Granted, it does not seem to lack low end snap from the little I have run it, but still..
82mph is close to what my 2011 pro pulled on a short lake pull. Sure it had more to give, but when we talk about 40-41mph trackspeed climbing (low alt) and 1:1 gives you 82??
I'll try to hold out while under warranty, but will keep a close eye on my belts and see how cool things are.

Ok I think you are confused, 1 to 1 ratio is the belt the same distance from the center of each sheave, ie its running at the same diameter on both, ie 1 to 1 at 82 @ 8500 you are running full shift out or 3 to 1 ratio. (aprox)

Read Aaens book a LONG time ago. 1:1 is equal circumference, jackshaft turning engine rpm.My fellow countryman Olav Aaen wrote that Poo would see 0,9:1 overdrive, while the TRA being a bit more efficient could pull 0,85:1 overdrive (20+ years old numbers anyway).
But Tony seems pretty clear on the 1:1 and in light of that those mph numbers seem high? Tony?
My new (to me) 16 Axys is really quick on the bottom end and engages pretty low, so either I am reading these numbers wrong or the Axys is REALLY impressive!?
Picked up a pair of Pro pulleys for my stocker for $100. Works pretty damn good, felt like it really woke the sled up, much easier to pick up and carry the skis which makes for a good time in the trees. Cooler belt temps are a win as well. I think a 2.3-2.35 ratio would be a better all around setup. May try 8 tooth drivers and tki with 27/63 next season.

For those of you who have done the factory "Pro" gear down, I've got a few questions.
First off, I'm running a 17 Axys 163 / 2.6 with the SLP pipe / can combo. Right now I'm still running the stock clutching but I'm leaning towards the SLP blue / pink for the primary and the black purple for the secondary. Also considering the SLP Magnum weights.
What are you guys running for clutching? Did you change the helix or just leave the stock one?
What are the part numbers for the Pro gears ?
And the big question...........is this the ticket or should a guy just go with Kurt's gear down or go a step further and go with TKI ???? Thoughts, what's the best bang for the buck???????

If you have the option, IMO, go for the "adjustable belt tension set-up" if going aftermarket. When those pulleys warm up the belt gets even tighter.
Just going from ol' Pro experience but a little bit of slack certainly took the heat out of the jackshaft bearing which means the jackshaft feels better and maybe a little less HP loss when you least want it.

Bang for the buck was no brainer. I got my pulleys for $70. Im running carls clutching with my slp pipe. Love the set up.Bump.........
