QD belt poll

How many people have had failures with the QD belt after a complete break in?

  • Stock, all cogs stripped

    Votes: 10 3.8%
  • Modified (turbo) all cogs stripped

    Votes: 8 3.0%
  • Stock partial cog strip

    Votes: 29 10.9%
  • Modified partial cog strip

    Votes: 8 3.0%
  • Other belt failure (tear/break)

    Votes: 5 1.9%
  • No belt failure

    Votes: 205 77.4%

Also, a 15% failure rate is unacceptable. Call it 10 % just for the sake of people coming to the internet with more negative problems than positive ones.

Chains don't have a 10 % failure rate. Especially at less than 1000 miles!

I finally lost my first belt at 604 miles. I did ride with some people a few weekends ago and the one guy was on his 6th in less than 1000 miles, and another guy was on his 5th in less than 800 miles. The second guy also blew two in two days. The first time was just riding up the trail, less than 4 miles from the truck. We even had two guys break theirs on the same "bump." I'm starting to lose faith in this system. Anybody have an extra chain case kicking around?

This one was from my sled yesterday.

These are the two that broke on the same bump at the same time.

Went through two that look exactly like the ones above. First at about 350 miles. Rode hard. Next about 60 miles later. Both happened when goin up a technical climb and hit a stump or something hard where I got instant traction.
Silber 163 at about 10 lbs boost.

lost 2 belts after 460 miles(missing 6-8 cogs). The track have been ratching alot, the track was much looser then the spec is. Also measured my driveshaft to have 0.007" runout on it. tighten up the track and put mike's footwell plates on.. hope this will improve the life time, or i have to buy either c3 "fixit" or fastrax driveshaft.

Lost mine at 650. Sure hope changes are made for 2014 and we can upgrade for a decent price. Hearing rumors of billet aluminum pulleys. If pulleys and belt were a bit wider would help also. Surprised nothing from aftermarket out yet besides tensioner. At any rate 20% failure is not acceptable. Love the sled but think some refinement and improvement to the quick drive is needed, especially when your dealer won't warranty a belt... Time for a dealer change. I wasn't carrying a spare but after mine went when and how it did I'm singing a different tune.

Whose your dealer?

HPAK Wasilla. I unfortunately had to drop my sled off there so they could get pictures and what not, but I also don't have the little tools. The shop guy said they have had 5-6 come back already.

I heard through the grapevine that Maritas has had 8 come back stripped. The service guy over there feels so bad about the whole thing he's selling extra belts and tools at his cost to his customers.

I've personally seen two Pro's left for dead on the trail with completely stripped belts. Luckily mine went about 100 yards from a nice level river bed, and I was able to Fred Flintstone it back to the truck. If there is any kind of powder or steep hills you are done for.

20hrs in (what are "miles" in powder??) and still A-o.k....Keep thinking maybe I should have gotten an Assault, but it's taking the boon-docking very well. Base temps gone from 123 to 125, and I'm alright with that. GF's is still 100% also. Best sled ever.

650 miles, no issues yet. Stock except for skinz vented side panels. I can always "hear" whe my belt is cold with the vented panels. Always take it easy till it quiets down then bar down! This sled pulls way harder than my 2011 did, also pulls way more rpm with stock clutching than the old one.

Update: 1200+ miles with no issues, but carrying a spare now just in case....I figure can't last much longer....FYI ck torque of QD bolts every 100 miles! New spec is 45 ft ibs.

Blow belt on .sat 522miles it don't like +10 temps and heavy deep snowImageUploadedByTapatalk1364739764.126547.jpg
I did there proper breaking and have a tone of vents. The only solution I can think of is this ImageUploadedByTapatalk1364739826.244267.jpg
Just need to find out the best gear ratio to order

Didn't vote because it's not mine. I know a guy from Steamboat Co. that broke 9 in 1600mi. Also broke shaft before getting clamp, motor mount threads stripped, one rear susp mount broke, both lower A-arms came apart and last Friday motor blew up. The guy does do some pretty big drops/jumps.

1000 miles of hard riding, and my belt still looks like it did the day i picked my sled up from the dealer. Not a single hiccup from the sled whatsoever. Hands down the best sled i have ever ridden.

Stripped about a 1/3 of the cogs at 660 miles. It happened coming out of a small valley in 3 ft of light snow(WOT). Drove it 4 miles out of the mountains on a fairly packed trail. I did the easy break in for 100 miles etc.. Driveshaft collar is on and it had the pulley retorqued at the dealership.

My brother bought a turbo 2013, boonie-turbo

it had 350 miles , he rode it 15 miles into the MTN. on the the 3rd hill he climbed , belt sheared 3/4 of the way up the hill, sled rolled all the way down, then had to pull hi out , he has a 3"x163, I have a Twisted M8 with 3"x162 he sled pulled out like a freight train, it took 6 guys 1.75 hours to get the sled out 5 miles, had to pull it uphill by hand 3 different places, plus i destroyed a clutch drive belt pulling him out on the TM8. Polaris can sux it-QD belt sux, poor design, poor quality, the CMX belt drive is similar- zero issues

Update...1220 miles as of yesterday. 21" dump on 5/3, great riding, still no issues. Will be tearing down sled though this summer for inspection and js bearing r&r...make no mistake about it, I LOVE MY PRO

We have 2 with 900 miles at 12 pounds of boost. I lost a driveshaft early on and the dealer gave me a new belt. I am still on the original one and now have a spare in the trailer. These things have been great for us. We did switch to the 2012 shaft after mine failed before they admitted they had a problem.
