Let's see.............
Arrived at 9:15, traffic was light (You were all hung over, weren't you??), and parking took all of 5 minutes. Kudos to the volunteers who helped direct traffic.
There was plenty of stuff in the Blue Lot to browse while we waited for 10:00am to roll around. 4,000,000 pairs of skis at the show, and not one single ski that would fit my buddy's 92 550 Mountain Cat....Go figure. No one was selling new Powder Pros either. That's OK, I'll order them from one of the Snowesters that sell them.
The vendors set up some really nice displays, and there was plenty of cool stuff to drool over. Once my career as a plus-size male model takes off, I'll have plenty of $$ to buy all of it.
Missy and I dropped by the S.A.W.S booth and chatted with Tedd and Suzy (OregonGirl) as well as Soccerd6. I've been trying to get Missy to join the girls for the Halfway Ladies Ride, and I think Suzy might have closed the deal.....Thanks Suzy.
I stopped by the SledNecks booth for my copy of SledNecks XI. Chris Brown even autographed it for me. I hope he wasn't offended that I didn't recognize him...We watch these films all the time, and you never see these guys without a helmet, goggles, and a face full of snow. Sorry dude....
I DID recognize Jim Phelan, thanks to Fordman's infamous photo from last year. I bought TS 7 and the Best-Of video, said hi to Jim and the gang (Jim even flashed me his trademark "devil horns"), and I was on my way outside to get some fresh air......
.........Where I promptly spotted Fordman. He was busy chatting with some folks, so I didn't stop to say hello. There IS good news to report: Fordman WAS NOT carrying anything resembling an inflatable donut cushion.....You can all breathe a sigh of relief and blow out the candle-light vigils- Fordy's gonna be OK.
What else..........Oh yeah:
So my buddy Grant has this ancient Mountain Cat (with two broken skis) that he just can't part with.....Or so we thought. We thought we had lost him in the Blue Lot, until Missy spotted him standing behind one of the dealer's pickups- staring at a new 800XP like a 14 year-old boy who just found a 50 lb bag of p0rn. He rode one (briefly) last season during our trip to Yellowstone, and had mentioned in passing that he wouldn't mind having one "someday". Once inside the show, one of the Doo salesmen swooped in on him (I think they have radar- kinda like bats do) while he was sitting on an 09, and offered him a leftover 08 (with all the updates) at a pretty tempting price. Although we walked away, I could see the wheels turning.......Later, as we were picking up some parts for our other buddy's M over at XXXXXX, Grant gravitated over to the XPs and was approached by one of the staff. Grant explained the other dealer's price to the XXXXXXX guy, who offered to match it. The last thing I saw was Grant taking one of the guy's cards (with the offer written on it) and telling him "We'll be in touch". The only reason that we didn't take one home right then and there, is because the parts for the update weren't in stock yet. Grant is 55 years old, and this will be his THIRD sled (his first was a Poo 440 back in the 70's). Talk about steppin' up, huh??
There you have it.......Not a bad Saturday in my book...
