Pro's and Con's of the FJ Toyota??

We are looking for an everyday driver. We currently have 2 trucks, no need for a tow rig, but have to have 4x4 as we live in the mtns. I like the FJ so far, what are the pros and cons. I have read the rear doors in tight spots, back windows, and a blind spot. That to me is not a big deal compared to the resale, and reliability of a Toyota.

Pro's:

- Proven motor, drivetrain and tranny....shared with V6 4Runner and Tacomas
- Nicely sorted suspension....smooth solid ride, but not too "car-like" that truck guys will dislike it.
- Looks cool with BFG's on it :D
- Available 6-speed manual....hard to come by in modern SUV's
- Good power from the engine room, good fuel economy....low - mid 20 mpg's highway no prob.
- Optional stereo pounds, body-coloured interior pieces are a nice touch, and the whole interior is just too cool IMO
- Available rear e-locker and A-TRAC traction control
- Drives great, looks cool, Toyota resale....can't go too wrong IMO

Con's:

- For the same money, a Tacoma D-cab is more practical but less exciting/interesting
- Blind spots from small rear windows
- Rear windows don't roll down
- Rear seat isn't huge and must be accessed by suicide doors
- 6-speed could be a little classier in it's operation if you like to row em' and 1st gear could be lower

I wanna get one for the wife and pimp it out a little, but she doesnt like em.... :( Apparently they dont look kid friendly. Guess we'll be getting a Tahoe. I told her, I would get a divorce before we got a minivan... :D

Pro's and con's I have no idea, I just thing they loook tooooight...

If you get one and its not from Milt, he will hunt you down!!!!!

Jeep does not have as many options for the same $$....
thats the point.

I guess you could call me a Jeep Snob. I consider myself a Jeep Purist. Jeeps aren't meant to be comfortable, they aren't meant to have all the amenities, they aren't meant to have AC. Jeeps are meant to be utilitarian offroad vehicles that will get you were you want to go and not complain about it.

Granted, I do own a newer jeep but still have that place in my heart for the classic. I would sell my soul to own a good condition CJ5 that was bone stock with no mods. Would probably be the only thing I own that would be left stock.

My parents have one. They are kick *** little rigs. Don't like the blind spot. if the wife did not think they were ugly she would be driving one.

fit in finish inside remind me of one word and one word only .......TONKA ....seats suck ....do you get my point ...

An Fj40 would cure you of that!

I have a 07 Voodoo Blue FJ. Have had it since August 06 for my daily driver. I haven't done much wheelin with it yet, but I understand they are more than capable off road. First foreign built vehicle I have ever bought. So far I am happy with it.

Most people either like the looks or hate the looks. I didn't like them at first, but after I saw the video of a stock FJ go over the Rubicon trail, they started looking good to me.

Pro:
Push button locker rearend.
Fuel milage about 20 to 22 mpg on the hwy (65 mph) with slightly oversize (width) tires

Con:
Small fuel tank
Vertical windshield eats lots of bugs and you must stay back from traffic lights a bit further than usual or you won't be able to see them.

Vehicles I would consider in this class:

4-Door Jeep
FJ Cruiser
Hummer H3

Might as well toss in the Nissan Xterra, while probably the cheapest one in the bunch, probably my last choice as well.
