Project PRO FECTION

Dern it...I get the biggest kick out of the showing aspect of all of this.

Scott it is official...I am on my way tomorrow to ride Friday, Sat, and Sun..mon tues ect ect until the fun bus leaves.

My big box of the latest and greatest gadget showed up today. You'll want to see this stuff! shhhhhhh it's very very secret:D There is already a bit of a feeding frenzy going on....cool

Thanks and we will do our best! Hey how bout video instead of photo's? I've got a bunch of prototype POV cameras coming for a test launch that I think the gang is going to get a real kick out of. There should be copious opportunities for comedy. Probably hours and hours of photage for everyone to live vicariously through.

Remember how much trouble we all have remembering who beat who and by how much? Well it's pretty easy to sort out now...I win... then look right and left to verify nobody is there. All captured by the wonder of video HD with clear sound that you can actually hear my gloating:D. Ahhhhh glorious unarguable proof! These babies kind of put to bed the old fish story program. bah ha ha

ABSOLUTELY EPIC! Best snow I've ridden in years. I have hours and hours of incredible deep free ride video. Only thing that could have made this better was a bit more sunshine but WOW.

Scott, super great to officially meet you and your Dad! A complete pleasure to ride with both of you. Looking forward to another trip.

The video goggles are the absolute shiznit for rehashing your trip. SUPER COOL> I'm gonna see if I can't get some of this edited down and throw a few minutes. Over an hour solid run time of goodness.

I can't believe it's been 12 or more years chatting on here and we finally just met in person.

It was fun watching the vid Sunday night...I could tell by your vid when it was "pre-scott" video or "post-scott" video. LOL

DAMN!!! I can't believe you broke the other one off too. LOL

THANK YOU for letting me ride the Pro. I truly love that chassis. The deeper the snow, the better that thing is. I would liked to have ridden Kim's for a good comparison.

ok GANG...We intalled a Power Addiction 13.5 head and an HPS can combo on "Carlos" the Pro-Fection. It's early yet and we will be doing absolute scientific heads up comparisons to give you the exact benefit of this setup...but for right now lets just say. WOW Absolutely you can feel and experience the results. We've had horse power eating deeEEEEeeep powder for the last few days and this kit has really been impressive. Once again my ultimate goal is to tell a customer that you do this and you get this amount of benefit. As of right now I know that this sled will easily pull 64 grams when it would only pull 62 prior and we are now in much much deeper and heavier snow. It absolutely packs the skis up a hill! My plan was to wait until I had all of the exact totals but it's just too exciting not to talk about. My very very conservative buddy with a stock 800 that we just had side by side for a few days was actually talking about the kit! That alone says quite a bit.

This system has made the sled feel much more responsive. It is simply a more crisp instant on feel, sound, and go. I'm very anxious to get it against an absolute like sled side by side.

Also put the RENTON COIL SPRING Ti progressive rate spring on the FOX ZERO PRO front/rear....this is a much more refined feel situation that will not be night and day over the steel spring. What we have is a very very sweet stock suspension with aftermarket FOX shocks that is OUTSTANDING. Once again so much so that I'm hearing nothing but complaining about the stock PRO's that are going with this one especially in direct comparison. Very controlled track contact at all times in all conditions. Sled jumps to a balanced plane in deep snow and holds a line perfectly irregardless of how rough it is. It also has great transfer control now. I'm not getting the radical ski lift or over tranfer when climbing with traction or over sudden humps on a climb. We have been doing a lot of video comparisons of the bone stock versus this suspension and you can clearing see how much more flat riding and consistant the FOX suspension is over stock.

carry on...

continuing update:

Hopefully at the end of this week we will have our detailed test results on the Power Addiction Head< HPS can < Carl's Clutch kit package for the 2011 mtn PRO.

Hurt my back and had to take a few days off to get functional. Did let Burandt ride the sled in Idaho last week. Compared to the stocker we had him on for that day he thought that this DEMO sled had a significantly more powerful setup. So that ain't much for detail but he's pretty picky and pretty used to superior running vehicles. He did like the power. Didn't like my bar setup...but I sure do! He likes a much lower setup for angles and control in crazy stuff.

I'm not happy with the felt response of the Ti setup that we put in. The performance is very sound as the sled pops to plane, handles flat and with consistancy, but the ride is at a sacrefice. Especially at low to medium speeds through woops. It's too soft initially and too violant and stiff at the end of the down cycle. It's what I call sending meaning it responds to the end of the down cycle too fast and out of time with the front suspension. As is the case with extreme hardcore setups if you were attacking it was awesome....but at some slower speeds in hard core woops the rear gets out of time with the front. Don't want to sacrefice comfort...we'll have to see if there is some other combos or I'm going to go back to the steel for this setup. Expensive parts to dial combos so may be a lost cause.

OK...back improved enough to ride a few days. Weather excellent snow moderately good. Heavy bumper deep in the trees but excellent traction. Anything the sun has touched is knee deep if you step off and the sleds make about an 8" track just sitting. Under power you your running skimming the boards and even our four stroke turbos were getting stuck occasionally.

I made some very minor rear suspension adjustments to the pressures of the EVOL R rear and reset the Ti spring preload with those adjustments. BAM we have a whole new beast. Before it was unhappy! I actually was going to pull the Ti and call it a failure. Amazing how such a minor couple of settings can totally change the experience.

NO BS...this is the shiznit now! I am so excited about the way this thing feels now that I would dearly dearly love somebody that thinks they have a really killer rear suspension setup for the PRO to step forward and lets compare. THAT GOOD PEOPLE! Back crunchin woops, flat fast trail, moderate heavy untracked powder, then feather light (we found all these conditions in one day!) deep fluff. Also got into some fun combos of these cool windrifts on a pretty steep climb. A challenge for suspension setups as you are dealing with a bunch of factors so you need a universally excellent system that is also versatile. Once again...very very cool!

As is the standard with comparison riding. We did quite a bit of test drag racing. Plus I have some video comparisons of some minor hill climbing in fresh snow. 400-500 yard long moderate slope. Interesting a sled (really a pretty good runner...that was equal to another PRO with clutching and a can) that was only five sled lengths slower drag racing in one test and then we got another 5 lengths with some other setups (mostly holeshot to midrange..then pretty close to equal) could not climb a hill in fresh snow that this PRO was not even challenged to get up. We are really finding some magic in go on this sled! FINALLY Dying for a real heads up comparison with some other fast and good going setups!

Another pretty cool thing was that I had a bit to much rebound going in the front EVOL R's. We were doing a trail race home on one day and it was fairly wooped especially in the corners. I tried some various settings on my rebound clickers the next day as a result of having a pretty wildly responsive rebound that was a bit out of time with the rear. Then we ran a not quite as bumpy but still little 1-2ft rolling woops once again mostly in the corners to a pretty smooth and flat straight way. I could litterly go full speed even around big wide corners (WARREN WAGON ROAD MCCALL) ! The shocks were working violantly but I could simply sit even with my bad back and rail. That equals a very very happy pilot. So anyway...that is a little fun FYI on this FOX RACING SHOX setup PRO with a Ti progressive rate prototype spring on the FOX Zero Pro front.

to be continued............(one of these days I'll edit a bunch of this video and this will be even more fun for those that are interested) maybe

I think we have officially reached perfection! Suspension is flat out money. Rode yesterday with my awesome full fox alpha-x equipped raw sled and trading back and forth this PRO is night and day better to ride. I've also finished up my clutching package for it. Just flat outstanding now! 64 grams with nothing but a head. IT IS SUPER FAST as a stock 800!

Scott it's 20% minimum more sled than when you rode it at Afton! Maybe even more...this is gonna hurt to sell.

The suspension package is complete and I am super confident that this is one of the finest overall handing, riding, and performance PRO's you guys will try. We have the Fox system dialed now and the addition of the Renton Coil Spring Ti progressive rate setup over the Fox Zero Pro has turned out EXCELLENT. As far as I know this is the only one like it in existence. You wouldn't think the spring would make that kind of difference (there are many many with the same shock package) but it did. That will be my report and recommendation to Renton Coil Spring.

To quote forum member suitcase from yesterdays ride....

"I'm not going to snow check the 2012 because the 900 isn't going to be ready and I'm not happy with how the 11 stocker handles or goes in comparison to my 860"....furthermore ..."had I ridden this setup I'd have snow checked the 12" He has spent quite a bit of time on a bone stock PRO (his Father's) and has a very nice Carl's 860 IQ RAW for comparison.

...also we took my girl Megan on this trip and she rides our other demo sled which is holz/fox evol x iq raw 800. Let her ride the PRO...she didn't want to give it back! On the trail out I couldn't even keep up with her on a really tight twisting downhill trail and I normally haul the mail. She's ridden a total of 75 miles this season and while getting to be a pretty good mtn rider is fairly conservative! Enlightening!

THAT, I gotta see...so lets get together. No kidding. Ketchum?

Also....I don't quite follow all of that one. LOL

Ketchum smetchem...you gonna drive that far lets go good. MCCALL...bring your Dad..I'll set it up if you are serious.

The deal on my buddy with the PRO snow check. He has an excellent 860 iq raw and wants to buy a PRO with a Carl's 900 big bore. This guy has premium tastes, money, and rides the living dog meat out of a sled. He wants an awesome powerful buggy that whips his buddies sleds in the timber. Where we ride in the Caps is very thick timber and short steep stuff. Snow normally just like McCall only the alt is lower at 4000-7000 max. No real long chute type pulls or monster climbs that you can keep it to the bar or need the turbo to compensate for high hp eating altitude. The big bore system is way better in this condition. At least it is with the 860. Since there isn't a 900 bb yet we really don't know. All going by theory...but he is a super happy Carl's customer and wants the same enjoyment and power from his next ride. He has ridden his Dad's bone stock PRO and it was not enough joy to make him snow check the 2012 because that is all he had to go from until yesterday.

Well now he's ridden our PRO and he has some more things to think about. Mostly how my back looked whipping the crap out of him drag racing yesterday! bah ha ha Just joking..the ride and handling of this PRO is most of the magic. The power is secondary and he is dreaming of that feel plus more (aren't we all?). I think I agree and would be even more excited if I had his money to spend! See?

Ohhh THAT 900. I follow. Gotcha.
Let me visit with Crazy Red and see if he wants to come down.
The biggest obstacle is here in my own home. :)

Up a few posts we discussed Suitcase. Well he bought a 2012 and pimped it out. Hmmmm? Where is my commission check JACK? tee hee

I saw another prototype 900 getting dressed up the other day. Things are looking good. So anxious to try this setup!!!!!!

The powers that B let me go one more year...so PRO-FECTION does not get sold..yet

Also I missed a sequence on this thread. Took this PRO with only a head, clutch kit, and track mod to Bend and absolutely DOMINATED both the drags (in class of course..there were some flat out awesome 300 plus HP buggies ripping it up) plus showed quite a few people how spectacular you can make a basically stock pump gas pull and go free rider on some of basic terrain around Dutchman. I know of FOUR PRO's that got sold do to this event and this sled. NOT BAD for a days work.
