proclimb reliability

Hello

i keep reading over these forums about arctic cat being heavy but bullet proof,... i agree the engine is BUT thats it! nothing else is not by a long shot i bleed green thru and thru nothing else and wouldnt change if i was giving an other brand id sell it and buy a cat. But that being said,.... why are they such junk?

my list goes on and on in the 2800 miles i have owed my 2013 M8 snopro orange and white heres my list

secondairy bolts holding helix broke
then hand warmers
then the secondairy a second time only took out both clutches this time
chaincase blew
rail thru my track
chain case again
rail thru my track again
now this year before winter i put anti stab and a belt drive and cat better boards weaknesses gone!
NOPE! fold my rails
replace and then break bolts holding my rear arm ( that are super cheap! never drilled a bolt so easily)
then took it out clutch jammed up....

i love my cat and im not getting rid of it,... but this legendary reliability is just not there,.... nothing but problem after problem i thought for sure i was going to be good all year because i got rid of the biggest headache the chain case. im just wondering if its just my sled

those summits seem to last pretty good or is it because i'm the problem put me behind the bars of a summit and the samething will happen, im not sure anymore

you sound like you've had more than your share of bad luck....i have two 13 xm's, one for my wife, one for me...0 problems in 3 years......also have a 14 m8000, 162 that i did a pro-lite copy plus c-3 and ti can, no problems there either, and great sled by the way...:face-icon-small-hap

WOW. sometimes you get a sled that's built on a friday night... AFTER they started drinking... I had an 07 like that, then had another 7 that were amazing.

you either got a lemon or your maintenance practices need serious work. my 14 has over 2000km on it and all its had is grease twice a year and a good check over every 2 or so rides. still on the original belt....

Imo all the little things on the cat are more annoying and make the Cat less reliable than the one big thing you all think is wrong with the Poo...

Your list (and I could add a few) is what I've seen ruin days all the time with the cat but yeah the motor is bulletproof... Wait a second I seen 2 of them go this year.

What I really think is if you ride any of them hard enough they're all junk and if you go out every day like its a stroll through candy land they're all reliable.

Every time I come home after a weekend or more of riding my sled comes into the garage and goes up on the hoist. I look everything over. Make clutching adjustments, change gears, change shock pressure, top up fluids, check all the nuts a bolts, grease it if it needs it. Honestly, my sled runs flawlessly.. its the small things that riders should check over before they go out...

Polaris is junk.... they are glued together, you have one hard landing and your tunnel folds. the shocks are junk, i blew a motor with 200 miles because of faulty injectors.. dealer gave it back and five miles down the trail boom.. another motor... apparently the injector that they replaced ( "faulty injector" ) well they replaced it with another "faulty" causing another failure. Has anyone ever seen a polaris ride down a trail and they a arms fall appart? Because I have... I would never buy another polaris.

Im with Johnsdevil if you buy them to actually use them and you run them hard stuff is going to break theres no way around it no matter what brand you ride

I've got both. 11 pro and a 14 proclimb. My cat ate hand warmers till this year. Other then that its got 2500 miles and has been great. My pro has 5000 miles I just did the top end this season. But the tunnel is buckled and it's been threw 2 many a arms to count. I don't blame polaris, but they should make a tunnel that holds up a little better. My cat has had some solid hits and is still straight.

Who says that they are such junk??????????

Polaris guys???? Skidoo guys??????
Mine is BULLET proof. I luv it. Still straight. Tons of power, waked on my buddies and they all have PULLaris. I will own a sled any day that is 30lb more than a light, built cheaply glued together piece of junk. Oh and a major ice collector. Who needs pistons??????My opinion.
Awesome sled. I bleed green too.
Always will.

I own 2- 2014's and they both have between 2100 and 2500 miles one has been boosted for half its life and they are both bulletproof and I abuse them. you either got a bad one or also beat your sled like I do but don't have it maintained properly

To the Op, it's not just you. All sleds have issues. Reliability isn't the #1 priority in a game where designs change so often. I had an '11 Pro with injector failures. Went to a '13 ETEC and it was constantly in limp mode - warrantied but ruined four rides. Now the '14 Proclimb lost a jackshaft taking out two clutches (cat did warranty clutches even though the sled was off warranty for all but engine so props to Cat for that). Cat handwarmers always fail and very poor clutch performance. Small things really but it is frustrating when you lose rides to quality issues that should be better for the price you pay for a new sled. Oh well, it's the name of the game and maintenance may be part of the answer but you're delusional if you think everything can be prevented. The fleet of Pro's I ride with have not had any issues....Oh, except the one (out of about 10) that scrambled at 800 miles! Cross your fingers and ride.

Well if you would have asked me 2 months ago I would have told you Cat was the bottom of my wish list. Actually, 1 step above Yamaha. I don't like super heavy sleds. You ask me today and I will tell you that I am checking an M8000 162 LE. By the way, 153 Poo is 408. What is the 3" with chain case? 425? So there is maybe 25 to 35 in difference is all. Now add goggle bag, seat bag, and venting that is already on the Cat.

Cat addressed their issues. Clutches should be bullet proof. We know TEAM makes great OEM clutches. We know the motor already is super dependable. We know that 36" ski stance works on mountain sleds. We don't know that Poo 800 motor will last. We don't know if some part will come "unglued" again. Poo is trying to address their motor issues but French tickler/ribbed condom pistons? Really? Sounds like a clamp on a drive shaft to keep it from coming apart when it shouldn't be coming apart in the first place.

Poo makes a super light sled. Durability is subject to use and a couple years. I have owned 11' and 13' version of the Pro. Nothing came unglued, nothing failed....except the motors. 1100 miles or less. So if a Cat motor lasts 3000 miles that is roughly $2400.00 in lightweight parts I can add. Right? Honestly, of all the sleds I've owned since 1997, Cat is the only one we didn't have to tow out. Summit 8, Poo 7, and a lot of Poo 8's from 2002 to 2013 models.

I am sorry, I just find it funny when Polaris guys say "Ride Pro or don't go!" I am going to try Cat this year since I think they addressed their issues and I don't think ribbed condom pistons are truly addressing Polaris issues. My choice and my dollar. God willing, I will have super luck with the new Cat. I really hope that Poo has their motors figured out. I really hope Ski-doo has a great season too. I love sleds. I love sledding. I feel your pain though with buying a sled that has issues. Problem is I think they all have issues, just which one has the least?

Poo 163 series 7 3" is 426". So add in 2 bags and you are at 430#. So the Axys in similar length and track is only 15# lighter when the Poo is stock and the Cat has a can.

I'll take the 15# increase.

If you wanna talk like a true Yamacat guy add a electric start to the Poo and some snow weight and your at least 100lbs lighter:face-icon-small-ton

3" track adds 4 lbs over the 2.6" track.

Not sure why you feel compelled to add Electric start. New Polaris tunnels will be painted so far less buildup.
