sled

Just talked to some buddys that got back from the mountains and they said do not change anything on next years sleds!!! theres all rocked!!!

i voted flawless, the only time that i had to talk to the dealer was when i heard the brake noise. went riding with him the next weekend and his sled was making the same noise, but we both resolved that it isn't causing any issues so i've just gotten used to the noise and will take back IF it ever does cause any problems. other than that don't ride one unless you want to buy one.

Negative Post- The handling of this sled is the best I've ever had, the power is phenominal,:face-icon-small-hap explosive power, no hesitation, Here's my problem going WOT in deep snow, the engine slowly drops in RPMs, then shut down momentarily just enough to hug the bars. Man is my chest getting sore, also had an incident with twisting my wrist on a curve when it cut out. This is very fustrating as you think with a new sled they should be able to trouble shoot the problem very quickly, I have an exellent dealer which is very helpful. We have tried a bunch of different things and hopefully they will figure this out. BECAUSE WHEN IT DOES RUN GOOD IT RIPS.

absolutely love mine, this sled is by far the best i've ever owned performance wise BUT... mine is an early production, 7-19, and these sleds are the ones that seem to be having most of the problems. have a page long list of rubbed wires, connectors that have no lock, latest is a blown powervalve base gasket. noticed oil up around the top of the valves and sure enough the right gasket is blown in half and the left is leaking. hit them both with a wrench and the bolts were finger tight at best. I'm a mechanic so these problems are not a problem for me, just more of an inconvenience, but if i wasn't a mechanic these problems would seem far greater!!! not anything i did not expect from a first year production, bought this thing knowing full well i would probably spend at least a few hours "improving" small things. most of my problems have been wiring related and the later production models seem to have a better wiring harness and it is routed better. i think polaris should give the early production guys a rebate for all the headaches we are having to suffer through!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mines been flawless, 163, and from what the results are showing over 90% happy rate..speaks volumes for the sled....sorry for those who are having issues..my guess..a lot of wiring rubs/poor connections are causing issues...I would be pulling the harness if mine was acting up and going thru it with a fine toothed comb(and adding a product called stabilant 22 to every connection)..(I will anyway since I hate breaking down)..good luck...

heres a site that sells it...

There needs to be a 4th option....how about; "Love what Poo is trying to achieve here, but needs definite improvements"...

I know love is blind fella's, but COME ON!.

Firstly, as Mountainhorse very aptly pointed out in his post yesterday, there is the definite necesity for venting these sleds. Why is it that "I" know my sled "HAS" to be vented, yet Polaris hasn't worked that out yet? I'm doing 1mph at full RPM with 6" of snow packed on the hood! That is what these things are supposedly made for! It is named the ROCKY MOUNTAIN KING after all!

Thus, the clutch gets WAY too hot in the little oven that they located it in, and as a result belts are blowing to smitherines.

We've already given up power to adhere to the EPA noise and emissions guidelines, yet I do not see how venting could create noise issues as the noise all comes out of the bottom of the factory silencer, not my spinning clutch.

Underhood heat is still my biggest issue with these so called "purpose built mountain sleds". I cannot think of any other toy I own where a regular part -albeit a very large part - of my enjoyment and use is spent sitting with the side pannels open waiting for the sled to cool down! No, not the engine temps, the Pipe, Can and Clutch.

Also, my running boards and tunnell are dented and beat-up...and plesae, don't come on recommending Better Boards to me...that just goes against what I am saying in this post...the necestiy for them to get it right out of the Factory.

Oh yeah, and the A-arms a flimsy at best....

I still think its the best sled you can buy on the market...it handles very nicely...I just think there is TONNE of room for improvement

i know spending another 100 or more dollars to vent your new sled sucks and i understand that, i had to do it too. but i do think it's the noise thing that makes them do it, they are sealed up so they are quiet. i take all the foam out of mine and cut holes in the side panels and the sled is louder after all that is done. i think that's why they offer them in the polaris catolog cause they know they'll need them when working the sled at low speeds.

Longgold, I understand what you're saying but the EPA and consumer drive the development of these sleds. Your sled will not come vented because it DOES make it noiser. anything that is vibrating is making noise. so that goes for everything under your hood including your clutches, chaincase, pipe, exhaust springs... ect..
I agree with you about the running boards.
As for the A-arms, they are designed for failure with an overkill safety factor added in so that that definately fail before something else happens (like you get seriously injured). Its the Cover Our A** technique. A-arms are easier to fix than a bulkhead and cheaper to fix than a hospital bill... not saying that I wouldn't invest in a set of z-broz or holz if I wrecked the stock a-arms ;)

Had my Assault cut out and die during a ride, almost pitched me over the bars. Pulled the plug caps off and one (mag side) was very loose on the wire. Tightened both up and no problems since then. Sled runs super strong and handles like a dream. Am going to move the suspension up in an attempt to keep the front end down!

Thanks to the thread earlier suggesting this fix. Don't remember who posted it, but it was right on!

900 miles on one, 600 miles on the other. Flawless every time out, extraordinary for a first year sled. Couldn't be happier.

only issue I had was a DET light and limp mode at 34 miles on sled. Turned sled off and restarted and havent had an issue since. I did order Zbroz Aarms for insurance on my Aarms.

I know how frusterating a poor running sled can be. After my run on my 08 I said I would never own another Polaris. My Pro is flawless so far with about 500 mile and I am so glad I didn't listen to myself. Err i sure hope they get you running soon.

Broke parts- that happens with all the sleds if you hit something. My dragon held up better than my friends ski-doo to a good hit to the front end. My pro hasn't hit very hard yet but it has hit stuff and held up fine so far. My buddy Ski-doo has broke the front once from a good hit and once that he isn't even sure what did it. But I'm all for a bent a-arm as the weak spot as long as it doesn't take out a shock with it.

My only issue is the Low Beam headlights quit working, along with the hand warmers. Rode rest of the week with high beams, and the hand warmers worked while on High beams. Took hood and side panels off, grabbed some electrical tape, and zip ties, followed the post on taping up the wiring harness, and repaired the broken wire to the lo beams (wire rubbed on the steering post bolt) and all is now well. this sled ROCKS!!!, and this coming from a someone who has owned nothing but Ski Doos for the past 35 years. Polaris hit the ball out of the Park on this one, time for the others to play "catch up":face-icon-small-win My sleds MFG date, 7-16-10

EDIT, as of 2-1-11, my sled is at the dealer, they are trying to figure out my mid range bog, happens at 6500 to 7500 rpm, on occasion, mostly on the trail, never has happened while climbing or sidehilling, basically only on trail going from point A to point B

I get a bog once in a while after a cool down rest...... I think it has to do with the pipe not being up to temperature.

The only other issue I have is that after a longer steep and deep pull that requires sidehilling and swithbacking......... I just wait..... and wait for way to long for my freinds to arrive.

Most of the time I have pack down the hill several times .... in order for them to follow.

thumbs up

I love my PRO the only issue I had was the adjuster in the middle of the throttle cable loosened up and wouldn't idle after a long day of riding

I love the PRO more and more each time I ride it. Super duper fun on the trail, awesome on the woops (still experimenting with my FOX Evol shocks but super happy there), effortless in the fluff, sidehill anywhere easily up, down, or across even in roughed up stuff, has gotten me to the darkside of the moon but more importantly HOME, and has generally been an absolute gas to play on. Oh yea and I pull up to the gas pump and fill er up. Haven't done that for years and it runs as good as my hot rod sleds of the past. Just plain old impressive performance from a stocker (engine).

Dislikes:
The rear bumper is flat useless and a really dumb design. You cannot get a grip on the cf bar and it wedges against the flat when you are encased in snow. You just end up lifting from the brackets.
Took off the stock bar hooks as they hang up and are dangerous.
Fixed the running boards :face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap!
Wish the hood opened up conventionally! (old school and want to look in there occasionally)
Had a couple of weird engine bobbles occasionally but seem to be happening less and less. On the eth break in in super deep powder that was covering the intakes it layed down several times and left me in a bad way. You needed to be busy scratching away at em and then it went fine but that is a hassle.
All super minor easy to fix and the fun factor just kills the hassle factor on these minor things. Best sled I've ridden (says alot...i have some cool stuff and get to play on lots of other companies cool stuff regularly)

Bog no more

Had some issues here in MN with what I suspected was going to be an injector issue but it didn't miss a beat in Togwotee last week.

Now if I could get it to turn right as easy as it does left.....

negative

I own 4 Polaris' and have not owned anything else for what its worth. Mine has a high RPM stumble that 4 differant dealers have no answer for that works. Oil light still comes on for no reason even after sending unit replacement. Main wiring harness clip is zip tied together, not designed for multiple use. Ate a belt in the first 100 miles.Wiring is poorly routed and poorly installed.Loose connections and rubs everywhere. Brakes continually hiss.Low end vibrates your teeth out. Polaris has yet to acknowledge the high RPM issue. When do the $1500.00 loyalty checks get mailed ,I want to trade out

Where do you live? If you are anywhere close to me I will let you ride mine. Have had none of the problems that you are mentioning and the sled kicks serious butt. Wouldn't sell mine, period, end of story!!!
