Pro belt tensioner

RoffRider,
What's your motivation for being on snowest? A week ago I see you on another forum calling it blowest and basically bragging about how your stirring the pot over here and the fact that your too tight to pay for a membership and can't read anymore of the crap you started...

If I was a mod I'd make it real simple and just boot you and your IP address... It's a good thing that's left up to people with a lot more patience than me.

One more question for you. Do you have a small business? If so I dare you to post your prices for your services or products on here... I'm guessing you don't though due to your total ignorance of the cost associated with running a legit profitable small business. And I'm not talking about getting rich profitable, I'm talking about keeping the lights on, feeding your family and MAYBE having a little left over to have fun profitable.

lol...well...this isnt california...and hitler doesnt run this site...as another mod stated i can express my own opinion here...

roffrider, Its very clear your not in business! you make zero sense, its fools like you that demand more pay for less work and in return that drives up company costs = increasing product pricing. I know its hard for you to understand

oh well now...i said if they actually pay their workers a good amount that i would shup up about the pricing

no need for you to get upset

no he does not pay himself that much 1 man operation he designs tests builds all by himself .......its not so much a tensioner but it stops the belt from slapping witch will cause it to break

Hey, when we get back on the Topic of does this actually provide insurance against a $100 or so QD belt stripping please let me know.

I'm pretty sure I just lost $150 of my life I'll never get back reading through this thread...lol

Wow, just wow. Thanks for the clarification... You have officially made it on the same list as Snowmobiler.

PV

well...let me clarify this...because it seems you havnt caught up

that was for rmscustom...because he thinks it ok to ban me because i am only stating what i think...(im not doing anything drastic either)

seems like a fascistic thing to do...and that makes the remark to california and hitler...i could have done a hiel rmscustom instead...would that have been more understandable?

now is that right? i my self thought fire n ice was a little bit bigger...

but it makes a little more sense to me now...if i was in that position i would drive up prices to keep demand down and so i wouldnt be bite off more than i could chew and burried under orders...this makes quality go down...still dont know why slp makes their torque arms 100 bucks

but i think fire n ice will be counting my bucks...ill order one of their torque arms for my pro

As for most other products out there price and production cost has nothing to do with each other. In this case, as in most cases, what you pay for is "function".
You are paying för the belt not to break, not for a bit of sheet metal and a roller.

At the Company I work for we make, for example, hydraulic dampers for cranes and wheel loaders etc. The price tag in no way reflects production costs, what you are paying for when buying dampers for your wheel loader is not beeing thrown out of the front window when going over a bump at speed.

Roff think about this... Supplies, Wages, LIMITED MARKET, insurance, and shop utilities all drive up the cost. Why do you think it cost so much to take your car or sled in to get it worked on. They need to cover all the wages(service writer, mechanic, manager/owner), utilities, insurance is pretty high, and they are still trying to make some kind of profit. If it saves you from even blowing one belt it's paid for itself....

All great points, but unfortunately logic, reason, and common sense left this thread a while back. I'm afraid, sir, you are wasting both your breath and time.

Hiel rmscustom... I kinda like that, Is that wrong? lol

And I wouldn't have banned you for your comments on here (not that its up to me anyways), I would've banned you for basically saying your on Snowest just to cause **** on another site.

if that chain tensioner is not made in china It would be a HUGE surprise. Having worked in or owned a machine shop since I was 13( 26 + years) this is something I know a little bit about.

The Fire n Ice one was designed, manufactured, and assembled in Idaho Falls.

Not a bad price given the time put into making this. I doubt he is making much on these. I still don't think is will completely cure the problem completely either.

give the guy a break, he is right prices for a lot of crap for sledding is totally ridiculous. $300 goggles, $5000 turbos, 15k sleds. sorry the rest of you are independantly wealthy but some of us aren't. there is a reason why this sport is shrinking every year...

I just received my kit today, Ordered it yesterday. It was packaged intelligently, with all the parts assembled in the right order and held together with shrink tubing. All of the pieces are top quality and machined very well. It installed in a few minutes and all the holes lined up perfectly. It is designed very well. IMHO it is worth every penny of the $150.00 price. I have yet to see a competitor for this product show up. I would imagine that if it could be produced at a price point less than it is at now, someone would have started knocking them off and selling them cheaper.

Hmmm...

So what you are saying is $13000 snowmobiles, $50000 + pickup trucks, accesories, turbo kits, clothing, etc is barely affordable? Agreed, however if one can afford the sled and/or the $5000 turbo kit or engine upgrade, is a $150 belt tension device that saves $200 belt destruction unreasonable? I don't think it is unaffordable when one considers the alternative and it may even add a sense of reliability if it works especially after parting with the $$$ required to gear up for sledding.

I'd be willing to part with the $150 for something that works!!! Honestly, I can make more in the 3 or 4 hours it would take me to piece it together than I would ever save fabricating it. If I couldn't get one... well that is another story.

Cudos to Fire and Ice. Once it is tested and proven, PM me and I will order one for my Pro.

Cheers!!!

Happy Trails!!!:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap

$1000 too late for me.

This is one of best ideas I've seen. I broke my QD Belt at 350 miles, going downhill slightly across a meadow doing s turns in 2' of new, on and off the throttle not even 3/4 wide open, mine snapped after getting off the gas, laying it over into next turn and getting back into it, felt a slight ratcheting then snap! Positive it was the belt ballooning then being brought tight again and sheering some cogs. I ordered a C3 the next day. This little gadget would've saved me some dough. Excited to see how it works out. Great job Fire n Ice!! First to the table with an affordable (not cheap quality) simple fix.
