PrayN4snow's Stage build/tuning the AXYS RMK 800

Thread Rating
5.00 star(s)
Did you get any dyno readings with just pipe/can installed, everything else stock? Curious on the results of that, I'm not currently interested in pulling it down to swap pistons/heads etc.
A pipe/can combo though, save some weight, get some power, get a bit of noise would be good with me...

From a chassis perspective, what all needs to be torn down to add the Durability Kit?

Can you break down what you did for Stage Tuning - I'm assuming all was with Bully Dog?

Stock Engine with:
-Pipe?
-Pipe and Muffler?
-Pipe/Muffler with Billet Head?
-Pipe/Muffler/Billet Head/Durability Kit?

Still more pics
1st is the stock pistons after running the break in and stock dyno pulls. They are better than last years, however they were already showing some ware on the lower oil groves.
2nd is the stock motor torn down for inspection and to add the BMP durability kit with new pistons, rings, gaskets, base plate and longer cylinder bolts.
3rd is what I would recommend using to get the power valves off without using some unapproved forum words.
4th is the new polaris exhaust valves that they say never need to be cleaned. This is using fresh 91 non eth premium and Polaris VES Gold oil for break in and stock dyno pulls.
5th is better pic of stock Axys exhaust valves after just break in.
6th is a kicked in the gut feel of having your brand new sled that hasn't seen snow torn apart to see what makes it tick ;) If your as strange as me, your ok with making a FrankenAxys ! Now Im just "PrayN4snow"!!

Yes, I did. Im trying to post them now but trying to figure out my scanner.
The results from the pipe & can (larger Full velocity muffler) after the motor was broken is was 168.2HP so thats a gain of 11HP over the stock 157.2. I really like the weight that it saves as well. Its also ceramic coated and seems to keep the temps cooler near the quick drive compared to the stock muffler. Ill be monitoring that once I'm out on the snow compared to my friends bone stock sled.

Man dont post that ****! :loco:
It just makes me want to upgrade my sled abit :pray2:

What oil are you running now when its equipped with bmp stg3? Get the feeling you arent satisfied with the ves oil?

Thanks Prayn.. is there a fuel controller required with the BMP stuff? Wasn't for my Pro, but things change..

The fuel controller is Not required with the pipe and can, however it did pull more power with it and it has added features like adding more oil since the oil pump can't be manually turned up like previous models. I will ask Joey from Bikeman to answer questions about the Bully Dog controller because I don't want to give what might be secret info on their tunes.
If you went with a higher stage tune like I did, I'm pretty sure you need to run the controller.

We took off the hood, side panels, disconnected the battery, removed the pipe and can. Note: the springs on the Y-pipe this year are a pain. Put $2 of change in your "cuss can" before proceeding. Not trying to sell anything but the Bikeman spring puller they sell really helped a lot. I bought a second one while I was there to keep in my trailer! Unhooked the coolant lines from the head, syphoned out coolant, disconnected the steering post to gain extra clearance for the exhaust valves, removed the Y-pipe and head, then the stock mono block. Im sure I'm missing something. The Durability Kit comes with everything you need including gaskets.

Beauty! Guess I need to start saving some pennies/collecting bottles off the highway :face-icon-small-hap

Im not sure what they may offer but I know Mike the General Manager there said they are going to have a Black Friday special, just mention this build. Or do what I do and put parts in the on-line shopping basket and leave the computer open on a web site if you want to drop hints. However, if you don't want to get hit with a frying pan don't leave the page open with Bikeman's calendars lol.

I think I figured this out. Sorry Im not a computer guru.
If you look close at the notes on each page it will tell you what stage each graph is. For example the 1st one should be the bone stock motor after break in With the Bully Dog controller.

So it appears like this to me:

Data 10514 = Stock
Data 10519 = Bully Dog only?
Data 10530 = Pipe Only? No Bully Dog?
Data 10544 = Pipe with Full Velocity Muffler? No Bully Dog?
Data 10543 = Stage 1? Pipe & Bully Dog?
Data 10555 = Stage 2? Pipe, Bully Dog, Billet Head?
Data 10561 = Stage 3? Pipe, Bully Dog, Billet Head, Durability kit?

Looks easy to clutch. Nice work BMP+

Prayn4snow, thank you for sharing!

So it appears like this to me:

Data 10514 = Stock everything after break in
Data 10519 = Stock engine with Bully Dog controller only (adds HP & TQ and added oil and corrects other parameters from stock tune)
Data 10530 = stock motor with BMP Pipe and stock muffler, No Bully Dog
Data 10544 = BMP Pipe with BMP Full Velocity Muffler and Bully Dog
Data 10543 = BMP Pipe, stock muffler & Bully Dog
Data 10555 = Stage 2 BMP Pipe, BMP FV muffler, Bully Dog & BMP Billet Head

I added a couple notes, Sorry for the delay, Im in the middle of another project.

The most impressive/important thing for me is looking at how hard these mods pull after 7500rpm on up. Both the HP and TQ numbers are really nice gains. Even the basic mods like the pipe and can are great budget starts. If you can't afford a stage 3 kit it allows you to build up to it. Its a good thing Christmas gift season is coming up. Lets not forget the real reason for the season, its not just to get cool new parts to beat your buddy up the hill or across the lake
I also like the weight savings, since I can't seem to loose 20lbs of my own lol.

Great build Robert! It was very nice having you come out to see how our process works. The products for the Axys took many many hours of development and we are extremely happy with the results. We are also glad you could come out to back them up and make sure everything was working the same on the 2016's.

Here is a dyno sheet with labels which will help.

Mike if i were to jump on a Stg2 kit. Am i then able to upgrade to Stg3 when time comes for it, by just adding a durability kit and swap the mapping?
What would you guys charge for people who upgrade from lets say Stg2 to 3?

Id also like to see a stg2 / stg3 dyno with stock can. Id really like to shed the weight but not at the cost of soundlvl im afraid.

You've got it, it would just be a durability kit and map upgrade. Durability kit is $549.95 and the map upgrades are $50ea. 10% off those prices for forum guys.

The muffler just shifts the entire power curve over 1-2hp. Literally exactly the same curve to it. No problem running the stock muffler. We have a great comparison video on the mufflers so you can see if the sound is too much for you.
