Power to Weight Ratio: Four Stoke vs. Two Stroke

Thats not how Trolls work.
They crave the attention they get from the attacks they launch..

Trolls LIVE to stir the pot and throw grenades trying to get a rise out of people.

Go to your profile and put them on IGNORE so you don't see there drivel. Nothing annoys a troll more than to be ignored.

Some are not trolls though they just realized they spent over 10k on the WRONG sled and are angry. We told them the best Yamaha in decades was coming and they did not listen.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. No one has more hate than an ex-lover. He left Yamaha and now feels it his duty to spread his false enlightenment to save the great unwashed masses from the errors of his past.

I think the correct vernacular is an Yamaha Apostate who has left the fold.

That was wet with snow.
We have one sled that was weighed with half a tank of fuel.
I simply took his actual weight and added the additional fuel weight to it.

Its just an approximate number to work with.
Hard numbers will probably start showing up later this week as more and more guys get their MTXs.

Hmmm, just re watched the video. 641lbs in the shop, 684lbs wet with snow. They were legit weights in the spring, I remember the thread on it. Yamaha did not loss 30lbs from spring to production sleds. For a reference weight M1100T is 667lbs wet, Viper can't be 57lbs lighter with a MPI turbo.

Then I stand corrected sir!
If my numbers are wrong I will GLADLY revise them just as soon as I get my sled next week and hoist it up on a scale for some real production weight!

I'm just really interested to see some production numbers, proclimb platform has lost weight over the years and a nytro motor is 20-25lbs lighter then a M1100 motor. If Yamaha is down to 610lbs with a MPI turbo then hats off to them but where did the 30lbs from spring to production go ?

Your really reaching now, how many bogus # have you posted in this thread?
You didn't even get the numbers in the Yami propaganda video correct and YOUR the one who sent it to everybody last spring, Im sure you have watched it 100 times. So WHO is trying to spread false enlightenment?

Agreed.
The first thing I will do with the new LE when it arrives is to get it properly weighed and reported here.

With any luck someone else here in the Yamaha forum will beat me to it and post some hard solid numbers.

You really need to get your facts straight before you go piping off all the time. 5000 for a turbo kit is on the cheap side for a 2s turbo kit. You then have to pay install. Vipers will be available with turbo for less than 14K. Your precious Pro will not be 100 lbs lighter by the time that you add a turbo kit to it. You will not have 60 hp more than the Viper unless you are running a race gas turbo. And if the person riding that snowbike knows how to ride there are a lot of circumstances where that snowbike will out do your sled. And with a good rider I am sure there will be a Viper that is able to make you look silly.

Truebluemax look at "toolbag" posts. Look at the posts and how they are written and I would hazard a guess that toolbag is DPG new hider account. Either way he is a TWIT (technical wizard in training)

However, there are probably 50 times as many 2s sleds on the snow as 4s, especially in the mountain segment. Soooo, there are way more turbo 2s sleds out there than turbo 4s sleds.

The fact that you must turbo a 4s to be competitive is the whole problem. To address the concern over the $2500 turbo kit... Anone can go out today, buy a new '14 Pro for under $10k and, fit a $5000 turbo kit. That brings your OTD price to around $15k, the same as it will take to procure a 180hp Viper correct?

So the cost is the same but the 4s is 100 lbs heavier and 60hp down STILL.

Bring on some more qualifiers... the justifications are hilarious!

Mostly I hope somebody around here buys one, I would love to see how it does. We already have a snowbike victim lined up who thinks his bike is going to shame the sleds. Can't wait for that, and I would like to add a T4s and see how it does in the technical trees too. I just do not see any evidence that he 4s has arrived. Getting close, they just need to keep on the weightloss program. The extra 100lbs is still just way to much regardless of power to wieght. It hurts every aspect of riding from stucks, to manuverability.

So, you buy a 14 Pro and put a turbo on it. Now you can compete with a boosted Viper. Then the motor grenades because it was operating to its limit before you modded it, now it's a near certainty that it will destroy itself in under 1000 miles.

How much of that do you think the Polaris warranty will cover?

None.

But, lets me honest here.
If someone takes the time to PROPERLY build up a new 2015 Pro to run a new Boondockers Turbo on it from ground up, they would have a very impressive hard to beat setup for mountain riding.

fuel tank slightly smaller, that sled had all steel shocks not floats, changed oil tank design, not sure if it saved weight.those are few that i know of.

i have been on both back to back have you,iam not trying to start a fight but i have . if you put the same rider on both with same basic turbo kits in any amount of pow the 4s will out pull & make way more track speed than the 2s.will the 2s bash through the trees better of coarse but not all of us have any interest in riding like burant:face-icon-small-con
iam lucky as i get to ride with the boost-it guys all great rider & they run both pros & vipers, you would be shocked at what a good rider can do riding either sled.
opinions are great but thats what they are,we all like diff things & have diff skills, ride what works for you & you have fun on.but dont come on here & try to tell people what they should ride & what works or shouldnt work if you have 0 time on one.

Couldn't be easier than that.
But he just can't resist the urge to tell everyone how wrong they are and how right he is...

I love bashing my Nytro in the trees that really all I ride but it might help that I'm 6'4". I have no problem throwing it around but I could see how someone smaller would have to work hard at it

I don't think anyone will make a serious argument that a Nytro is an ideal Lady's sled.

The bigger and stronger you are, the easier it is to "Toss" around.

This might have already been said (I didn't read the whole thread).. but when I figure power to weight I add my weight and gear into the mix. Adding another 200 pounds makes a lot more difference to a 120hp sled than it does to a 200hp sled.
Even with that I prefer a 2-stroke in sleds... and a 4-stroke in dirt bikes.

This is the winning quote right here! I rode these tanks for a LONG time and even after you spend thousands of dollars removing weight and adding power they just WEAR YOU OUT!!! After a full day of back country riding on a 4-stroke you are beat, and your shoulders are dead. If its spring time or set-up snow your hating life by mid-day. Do that same ride on RMK and you feel night and day better.

I agree but then getting towed usually is easier than doing the towing.:face-icon-small-ton

Yea, you gotta take your skirt off to ride one.

And you have not ridden a Viper. Friend brought out a 2013 Pro RMK to our ride last year, we all rode it and even his girlfriend said the Ski Doo and Viper rode better. I will say though that yeah...throwing around a Nytro will certainly wear you out, But that is past tense since the Viper arrived. Now you can go ride a Viper (or a 2014 M8 they ride and handle alike) or continue to embarrass yourself with lack of product.
