The 2.25" camo extreme, According to Bruce at Camoplast, is a softer compound than its 2.5" brother.

just curious, why would you flip the direction of a track?

in the past, when you turned the attack 20 around it was then in the "hillclimb" position. the paddles curved at the ends, and in hillclimb, they took big friggin scoops out of the snow and tossed about a 30' tall rooster tail everywhere you went. it also worked waaaay better in hillclimb. this is why i wonder about the power claw, cuz if you follow the directional arrow, the paddle tips are bent the opposite direction from the a20 hillclimb position. however, this is a very different track, so i hesitate to compare it to the a20. when people say that the pc throws a big roost, i imagine that it is coming off the fingers rather than the paddles (if the track has not been turned around), as the fingers are bent to dig in.

Bigbull, Or others what does the durometer rating have to do with a larger separation between the two? Which one is softer? And does the softer make for a better track in the powder?

Thanks
Mike

the higher the durometer the stiffer the track. the powerclaw 153 comes in either 80 durometer like the sp m8's or 90 durometer like the hcr... i like the 90 better for the fact that it is a little stiffer, hooks up a lot better on harder compound snow and doesnt really give up much if anything in the deep fluffy stuff

The newer tracks are to hard. The paddles bend and stay bent. The older Kimpex full paddle or the bighorn 2 inch was the best tracks. Very soft and would toss a rooster tail. My vote, Kimpex Bighorn.

Bighorn?
Didn't they only come in a 1.5?
I never saw a bighorn that did not delaminate.
A well designed powder track is DESIGNED to lay over.
If you want a solid paddle type lug go with a camo extreme 2.5.

downhill

I don't know what conditions you guys ride in, but in 9 out of 10 conditions, our experience was that the extreme kills the PC hands-down in the climb department, and 10 out of 10 in the downhill!

The PC is more than just deficient in the downhill - it's a goddamn safety liability!!!

Man, I haven't seen a big horn in years, last one was on kraftymike's mod storm in the late 90's.

I'm probably going to a 162" powerclaw for this next year.

The Camo Extreme 2.5" is also about 7 lbs heavier in the same length.

Is it only 7? It feels like more!

When the track is spinning at 40mph and your trying to throw the sled from side to side it feels like 30lbs or more. Thats why I decided to keep the PC on my main sled and the CE on the back up. It just works!:beer;

I've had both on my 06 M-7 and with a NA sled the camo-x overwhelmed the m-7! TOO HEAVY! All it would do is trench, trench, tench! I installed the power-claw and WOW gained track speed and got on top the snow twice as fast(assuming the camo-x ever did)! Just my experience! I now have a camo-x for sale!

Both great tracks, but my vote goes to the extreme. Not very often when i go west that we hit the perfect storm with all that powder. The extreme imo is a better all purpose track. If the sled has the PC on it there is no way I would swap it out for the extreme though.

Exactly cjfarm.........

In good cold weather untracked powder, the Powder Claw is the best for sleds under 200 hp. Any sled pushing 200 will not see much gain. Then the 2.5'' Extreme is a better choice and for higher hp the stiffer Extreme could be used.
Some of these guys are talking about stiffer or heavier snow. Low alt. Snow is heavy, like warmer snow. Next to the ocean in Alaska, many of these guys don't even need long tracks.

At high alt. and cold conditions the snow is very loose. Longer Powder Claw type tracks are great. Especially for stock HP sleds. High HP will fold over the lugs too much and they don't work like they are supposed to.

Turning the PC arround is an effort to get a high hp sled to hook up. Bad trencher. I personally prefer the Extreme 162'' for my 200hp sled. Love the PC on my stock M-8. For spring I turn the Extreme arround, but leave the M-8 alone.

so i have an 08 M1000 162'' Sold my factory track . Running about 195hp. What track should i go with for March type riding POWERCLAW or EXTREME. THANKS FOR ANY INPUT.

I have riden both and the challenger X in fresh snow had the mark over the power claw same rider etc.

You could use either..........

For March either one would work about the same. Under 200hp won't over bend the PC with the 162''. All round and all winter go with the PC.
