Has anyone tried P90x? the wife and I are starting it today in hopes to be a little skinnier by September for a cruise. Also I am hoping to drop 30 lbs for the sled season. Well see if I can I can pull it off.

I've tried it, and I know a few other who have used it as well. It's quite an *** kicker, you really should be in good shape before trying it, otherwise your going to get frustrated very fast.

Good luck.

If you are already in good shape, why do it? Isn't the point of it to help those that aren't in good shape get there? It's my understanding that there are "levels" that one can do until they reach a certain point before increasing their workout.

The key to success with programs like this is to work your way into it at your pace. If you try to keep up with the instructor you are going to be so beat tired and sore you will never try it again. My brother tried a drill sgt. program with a friend and ended up going to the back quack and eating a bottle of ibuprofen for the next week. He over did it out of the gate and got his butt kicked. Now he doesn't dare try it again.
Good luck with your goal Justin! You guys can do it...just do it smart!

I would check with your doctor first. Especially since you just had shoulder surgery not long ago.

p90x is not for the faint of heart

I have done p90x off/on for the past 18months. The orthopedic impact is something most will struggle with with Tony's program. That said, they do allow for any modification throughout all of the 13 DVD's i.e. use of chair or stool with pull ups or modifying your push ups etc. Try the plyometrics workout, you won't find a better cardio/fat burner out there.
I have modified my program (also post surgical repair of my Right shoulder) It will become very apparent how weak you are with this program. You do have to be careful and allow for adequate warm up/cool down. I do most of the resistive parts of the program and then mix in my own Cardio i.e. running, elyptical, volleyball. It's the diet where you will see huge gains. Something I am awful at!
Good luck

I had ben doing this off and on for a couple of months but with school and work it was hard to find time. Now that I'm out for summer I'm doing it everyday. Started following the diet as well. When you think diet you think food that doesn't taste good but the food they tell you to eat isn't bad at all. I'm excited to see how i look after 90 days. But like I said just from the few times Ive done it I went from barely doing 2-3 pull ups to now doing 7-9. It works. Following everyday is key and I can't wait to see the progression from my body over the next 90 days. Stay motivated and follow the diet. When someone offers you a burger or pizza it might look good but try to make yourself think "that looks disgusting" cause it really is. Good luck!

Yeah I am taking it really easy for awhile doing anything that doesnt hurt and no shoulder work yet but I want to help the wife the best i can! She just became one of Woodscross High school volleyball coaches. We started the diet program last week cant wait to see how I can do when I get the full release from my doc.

I've been hearing a lot of about P90x..lot of people I know are doing it. I hit the gym as much as I can during the week..but it'd be interesting to see what this could do! :) Pretty crazy some of the results!

good luck, great program, but most are as long as YOU are consistent. eat right, sleep enough and workout regularly with intensity and you'll be surprised - oh and hgh helps!

doing the workout won't drop the weight. It will help but the key for you is going to be DIET!!!! I know they give you one to follow and I haven't seen it, but from what I've heard you can tweak it and get it done cheaper with some shopping around at GNC etc.

as for the workout I've never done it. Know a few guys who have.

Those that have seen my pics know that I don't need to loose any weight....130-135 depending on my time of day. I used to workout hard and was 145. Now I hit ti 2 or 3 times a week.

I am seriously considering getting a copy and doing it to see how I stack up to the workouts and well what the hell see if I can add some mass back on.

I've been lifting pretty heavy for the last few months, with some cardio mixed in here and there. I use the p90x to get cut down for the mid summer shirtless time, other than that I stick with a pretty traditional workout routine.

The thing with the P90 is you have to follow the diet to a T. The workout will help strengthen and tone your muscles but you will not see much of a difference if your diet is crap. The diet is 85 percent of the results. My buddy and I did p90X twice with a crappy diet and finally a third time on the advanced and we put our diets in check. I was already in great shape but he was a little overweight and his results were amazing after he got his diet in check.
