Powder Mountain Hill Climb

Think you can find my cabin from the Monte parking lot? I'll call you!

Is it the log cabin with a roof on it? I think I can... :face-icon-small-hap Looks like it would be a late start for me. working in the a.m till 10 or so.. so 11:30ish there if that works...:face-icon-small-coo

k i'm signed up.....i talked with the ski patrol about guys riding in from monte and they were saying no because the snow cats are still running and they didn't want snowmobiles to track up the cat runs....sooooo there was about a foot of fresh on top of some softer layers and next weekends races are gonna be a hoot...see you all there

I am going to take my trailer up either thursday and friday. I'll be parking next to Jim Marshall #47 (RMSHA).

Picking up tether from TCP Monday... Got a full tank of race gas so I can be a racer!!!!!

Going to be as fun as a fat kid stuffing his face with chocolate cake!!!!

So what's the word...is anyone going to take a shot at riding in? I would be down with it.

I mean riding in from Monte and :behindsofa:hiding out from the popo or whomever else tries to run us off. I'd like to go watch, but I sure hate wasting a primo day to ride.

Screw the hillclimbs on saturday, that's just qualifying day anyways. Ride tony grove saturday, see the fast guys at powder on sunday.

Sounds like you are not brave enough to endeavor the race! :behindsofa:

Well DragonFreak has most likely bailed on me, maybe I'll lead the charge on riding in saturday to watch, I'm do for an epic battle with "the man".

If it does keep pounding with snow, it may be difficult to pass up a great day of sled for a great day of hill climb racing.

Here's a thought for anyone going to the hillclimbs.....Texas BBQ, in old town Huntsville, across from the park! It is off the hook! The owner is from Austin, TX and it is ligit BBQ good stuff!

Headed down to Powder today. Not sure how the weather will hold but should be a good couple days of racing. The ski hill courses are a blast so if you are thinking of racing the amateur class this is the last chance this year around here. If I wasn't racing I would definitely come up at least for Sunday to watch finals and get in the locals race. It's a different kind of rush then you can experience in the backcountry.

X2^^^ they cater to our company all the time.... GOOD CHIT RIGHT THERE...!:face-icon-small-coo Wish I didn't have to work :face-icon-small-sad...

A stroke of good luck and dragon freak is racing again.

We paid our $40 and will get to powder mtn around 9 AM.
Got to install my new carbides and my tether.

The tricity parts manager will be renting go pro cameras for racers. Should be cool.

Well the races went great today. Harrysmith took 12th place and I took 16th in the class, there was like 5 turbos in the top of the class

That was probably the best way I could imagine to potentially end the season. I almost fell off in the second corner trying to push my self so hard. My arms and legs felt tired after the 3rd corner. There was 1 crazy rut around a tree that you just had to pin it and hold on. It was great!!!! Screamed all the way over the top, I loved it.

Watching the pro's was way fun. The best part is that they are just normal fellows you can walk up to and ask them about there sleds, except the Tapio's. They got really pissed when I peaked inside their trailer to take a gander at a 2012 T-m8.

Thanks for the info on the amateur class. I told the wife that I wanted to try it out next year. I have couple questions for you about the amateur class, is it just one class stock and mod sleds together or do they split it up into mod and stock? Also how technical was the course at Powder Mountain were there a lot of guys loosing their sleds down the hill or if you messed up were you able to hold it on the hill. It sounds like a really fun time and I’m looking forward to trying it next year.

I heard at Beaver mtn they ran 3 classes.
Open mod, mod, and stock. So some guys raced all 3 classes on their stock sleds.

At powder, there was only 1 class, kinda sucked for everyone except the guys with turbos. There was technically 2 classes, 14-39 years old and 40 years and up. (guestimate on the actual age limits.)

The course isn't that technical, I would say the one corner around the tree into a massive rut was the most technical. Most of the guys that didn't make it over just rode way too fast through the large rutted chutes and got bounced out of the course.

When you're on the course it almost seems flat because youre so pumped up.

It was such a good time!!!
