Poor Choice Results In More Avalanche Death

Thread Rating

How about "it's a bad year AND some bad choices have been made"

Now thats a good way to put it. I really think OT means well and is just stirring the pot enough to get people thinking even if he does come across as a ****. It's the only way some seem to learn or listen.

Prayers to the familys:rose:

"If a human is involved in an avalanche then mistakes have been made"

A quote straight from "A dozen more turns" and also from the instructor of the Avy training I've taken.

Pretty much sums it up.

Pro-Choice

O T are you pro Choice ?

there is a lot more life and death going on in that arena, and you could really upset some folks with some of your rude posts, and stir the pot all year long- why don't ya more along too a bigger agenda....

peace out,

Call him what you may but ol Teton is right.
Almost every snowmobile avy related death is due to poor choices on the part of the rider. If people used their brains a little more often there would be much fewer avy related deaths.

OT is right. Also, like it or not, he has ALWAYS preached about being safe and smart in our decision making. He is one here who cares enough to want you to come home. There are consequenses for our actions and they can be harsh. No one can argue the fact that it is not bad snow but bad decisions that cause fatalities. in a bad snow year bad decisions seem magnified.

IF I die in a slide, I PRAY that someone stands up immediately and tells everybody who will listen what I DID WRONG. Just maybe then someone who is listening will modify their behavior and live because if it.

More people die on the hiway to the trailhead than in avalanches but no thread from OT about safe driving?

Whether he is right or wrong he is just trying to stir it up

well then maybe I'm biased because it was OT who made ME realize the true facts after the fact. It was in my face... and effective. And the ONLY reason I was not with Animal on that bad day was because I had been hurt 2 months earlier in.... a head-on car wreck. I approach intersections differently now too.

Ya HAVE to make something positive out of these bad situations or they are in vain, and if dialoge makes ya think... great!

If he had started in the day after animals death blaming him for being careless I wonder if you would feel the same way?

Once again..............it is all about choices.

Kinda like the mortgage mess, you choose to borrow more than you can pay back, you lose your home. Once again......your choice! The rest of the country should not have to pay for your...."bad choice"
The only difference is, with an avalance, your chpoice leads to a death(hopefully not) that causes chaos and problems for your survivors(if you are a parent or have a spouse), a bad mortgage, you just cry out loud enough and you survive and we all pay.

I'm pretty sure OT brings up the snowmobile avy aspect of things because this is a snowmobile related forum. See the connection there?????

So what if he is stirring things up?

Whether you like it or not, his stirring things up over the years have gotten a lot of people to take another look at their own actions out in the back country. Do you have a problem with that?
