polaristar warranty

I figured I would pass on some info that might help some of you. my 2011 had an injector failure this spring that took out not only the motor, but also loaded the exhaust with fuel that caught fire and took out most everything on the exhaust side of the sled(plastics, stator, coils, wire harness and many other things)sled has been at the dealers since and the other day they called to say that the polaristar extended warranty will only cover the mechanical/electrical damage and the rest(all the bodywork and such will be my responsibility), of course I said..uhm..this is all damage from a covered failure it should be covered, but acording to polaristar(warranty provider polaris uses), only mechanical/electrical failures are covered after the first year. Well as some on here know, I have spent most of the last 25+ yrs doing warranty work for either car makers or sleds/bikes/wheelers(yes polaris certed also) so I do know quite a bit about the whole process..so after some simple research I figured I would share some of the info I have found in the hopes that it saves some of you from being denied your legal coverage.
On 2011 snowcheck 4 yr warranties, they are a polaristar bumper to bumper warranty(meaning everything should be covered including body/chassis issues.
On 2012 snowchecks, the coverage offered is polaristar esc, which is not a bumper to bumper warranty(basically a mechanical/electrical coverage).
On 2013 snowchecks coming this fall, they are listed as 4 yr bumper to bumper coverage and like the 11's should cover everything..
On all 2 yr snowcheck warranties that I found they are a 1 yr bumper to bumper with the second year being a esc mechanical/electrical warranty.
I know some received a 3 yr warranty(canada) but I have not found any info on these warranties but my best guess is they too will be a esc mechanical/electrical warranty as well.
For any with the 2011 4 yr warranty that need polaris paperwork to backup their warranty claims I can provide copies(those who have been denied covereage in the past might want to review this info with a lawyer and decide if its worth filing a small claims case to recoup your wrongful denial) of the snowcheck forms(dealer order form and consumer/dealer snowcheck rules). I have both my dealer and the polaris district rep working on this for me and hope they can get it straightened out, as well as awaiting a return phone call from a supervisor at polaristar as well, if not I will pursue a legal remedy.

Great info. I have a 2012 that I did not snowcheck. My 1 year warrany expires in October. Polaristar has been sending me propaganda trying to get me to purchase an extended warranty. Have any of you ever done this? If so, and you had an issue, was the repair process timely and did they cover everything? I'm leaning towards risking it with no warranty. Thoughts?

corp, before ordering, call and get in writing if it is a complete bumper to bumper or only a mechanical/electrical coverage...I admit that most of the time, the mechanical/electrical coverage is enough, but, total repairs on mine right now are looking like over 4500 for the mechanical/electrical part and another 1700+ for the plastic/bodywork part..thats quite a bit to put out of pocket if you dont have to..also you might check with your local insurance provider..most do have extended warrantys available as well(check all coverages, deductibles, coverages carefully...and make sure you get it in writing before giving them a penny or signing anything...

Just another example of Polaristar weaseling out of paying a legitimate claim. I love my sled but of the 3 (Ski Doo, Polaris, AC) they seem to really look for a way to avoid paying, not how to keep the customer coming back. Granted, this is a pretty rare incident but they could have done you a solid and helped you out. I would much rather get a warranty direct from the manufacturer as they can see a bigger picture than just profit and loss like a warranty company. I bought my warranty from a third party for my 13 based on the advice of a well respected dealer who has a strong presence on SW. Still wish it was Polaris themselves...

I hear you matt, but, if a person is smart and knows what they are supposed to be getting( and has it in writing) the court can fix it right up..and I do have it in writing on several pieces of paper directly from polaris industries(when I placed the snowcheck). but yeah, I miss the old days when a persons word meant something and people(and companies) bent over backwards to make sure they treated peeps right.

Sorry to hear that Mike I hope everything works out for ya, and as a side note if I ever see Bruce again I'll punch him in the throat. :face-icon-small-hap

actually, chuck , they are doing better then I thought they would cover..but in the end, they will be covering it all...hard to argue in court when the paper says bumper to bumper 4 yr warranty...

bumper to bumper

Can you buy a bumper to bumper aftermarket Polaristar warranty I wonder? My dealer is great, but my luck with Polaris sleds is dismal and I would pay to have a bumper to bumper rather than just a mechanical/electrical.

not that I saw when I was looking AB, the 13 snowchecks are listed as a 4yr. bumper to bumper...

Does esc mean extended service contract?
I have a 2011 Pro that I bought used with a snow checked 4-year bumper to bumper warranty.
I also have a 2013 Pro with the 4-year bumper to bumper warranty but it also says esc on the receipt. So what does that mean?
Their brochures for the 2011 and the 2013 to me anyway clearly state that everything is covered for four years bumper to bumper except for consumables, belts, bulbs, etc. And a $50 deductible for every occurrence. Does that sound about right?
I would hope anyone that does get a warranty claim rejected when it shouldn't would contact their state attorney general. Keep us updated. It's issues like this and others I will bring up to the boys from Roseau/Medina this September at Hay Days. Thanks for your help and great advice.

This warranty BS does get confusing. When I did my Snowcheck back in April, my dealer and I discussed all the parameters. He gave me a sheet titled Program: 2037 dated 3-5-12 to 4-23-12, outlining the warranties and dealer credits(2 yr. vs 4 yr.).

Quoting some of the details on the sheet:

**Polaris 2nd Year Powertrain Warranty:
The Free 2nd Year Powertrain Warranty consists of one year standard Polaris warranty and one year Powertrain warranty. The 2nd Year Powertrain Warranty is backed by Polaris. The 2nd Year Powertrain Warranty is limited to two calendar years from date of warranty registration or 3000 miles, whichever comes first and is subject to a $50 deductible per visit. Tampering with the odometer shall void the warranty.

**Free POLARISTAR ESC(Extended Service Contract):
Polaris will send the ESC directly to the consumer. No dealer credit will be issued. If the consumer chooses the 4 Year ESC option. it is imperative that the dealer choose that option at time of registration. Failure to choose at time of registration will result in Polaris debiting the dealer the full amount of the ESC and administration costs.
The Free 4 Year Polaristar ESC consists of one year standard Polaris warranty and three year POLARISTAR ESC.

There is no mention of any mileage restrictions or deductibles on the 4 Year Warranty.

My dealer also told me that I would receive the 4 Yr. Warranty info with warranty ID cards. He did not think that anything would be sent to the buyer regarding the 2 Yr. Warranty.

One other point of concern -- make sure Polaris has you in their system correctly. Maybe a month or so after you pick up your sled, have your dealer punch in your VIN # on "his computer" and see what pops up re. warranty dates. Two friends of mine had incorrect warranty info when VIN # searches were done. One was on a Snowcheck 4 yr. warranty that was only showing 2 yrs. Took him a month to get it corrected. It was either a dealer screwup or Polaris or maybe both. He finally got his paperwork and ID cards. Big PITA.

Bottom line, WHATEVER WARRANTY ARRANGEMENTS YOU MAKE, GET IT IN WRITING!!

Hope this helps.

If you would be so kind to help me out here, this is what I have in hand.
I have a POLARIS SnowCheck 2013 order form that has circled . 4-year POLARISTAR Bumper To Bumper Extended Warranty.
Then on the dealers receipt it is hand written 4yr E.S.C. So now I am confused as to what I have.:face-icon-small-con
There is nothing on this Polaris form that says anything about ESC. Only on the dealers hand written receipt.
My 4-year warranty was not free as you stated above.
Thanks for all your help.

if you snow checked yours you should have the 4 yr bumper to bumper warranty, And Yes by all means please if you have a 2011 sled and were denied warranty for anything that wasnt obvious abuse/modded then please, file a complaint with your state attorney general and put up a reply here with the basics..thanks guys

PS: I did talk with a supervisor for the polaristar warranty this morning, acording to them there has never been a 4 yr bumper to bumper warranty offer, I also was told the same thing this morning by Polaris consumer claims department..needless to say..I did file a complaint with the attorney general of alaska this morning...

Pro-8250:

Suggest you have your dealer clarify that for you - 4 yr. B to B vs. 4 yr. ESC. I'm thinking they are one and the same, but who the hell knows. They want to keep us confused. Know what you're supposed to get and make sure it's in writing.

As for the FREE 4 yr. Polaristar ESC, that's the terminology they use in the Program Announcement. We do pay for it. If you opt for the 2 yr. Powertrain Warranty, you can get $600 in accessories or a $450 credit knocked off your purchase price.

As for the warranty designation, my dealer told me that I choose my warranty(2 yr. or 4 yr.) when I pay for the sled this fall. So if I'm feeling lucky, I can select the 2 yr. and he'll knock $450 off the price quote. I plan on going with the 4 yr. warranty.

AK:

Looks like the Poo folks don't know what they have either. Keep us posted on what your AG does for you. Good luck.

Are these people on crack, or smoking weed, or horse manure?
I have a 2013 Polaris Snowcheck brochure right in front of me, and my Polaris Snowcheck 2013 order form with the 4-Year POLARISTAR Bumper to Bumper Extended Warranty option.:camera:

+1 what Zrider said. At the end of last season I got a letter from Polaristar telling me that since my warranty was up as of Nov 2012(1 year from date of purchase) I should upgrade to a 2, 3, or 4 year extended warranty. Cost of the 4 year was like $1500 IIRC. So pit in my stomach I called my dealer and asked him to check my warranty as I took the 4 year when I snow checked that 12. I could feel the impending doom. About a week later he called back and said he sorted it out and my cards were on the way. Exhale. He told me that "nothing" had been selected as my snowcheck option so it was easy to fix. He also said the little credit card sized warranty cards were the best proof you could have and to hold on to them until you sold the sled. When buying a used sled make sure you get those cards.

I asked my dealer about the wallet cards and he knows nothing about them... Does anyone know anything more about these cards? He did send me a email from Polaris with my VIN number a year ago indicating when the warranty started and when it's up in four years, but I checked the VIN number the other day and now it says I only have one year of warranty... :face-icon-small-con

I got them a week after my dealer told me my warranty issue was fixed. You have a problem I would get after or better yet your dealer should take care of it like mine did.
