Im extending my 09 d8 out to a 174 and even though the edges of my stock track didnt look bad ive heard that they wear on the edges from rivets inside the tunnel. Possibly the rivets that are on the backing plate where the front skid bolts go in? Just thought i would ask if anyone has dealt with that. Thought since i had the track and skid out it might be a good time to fix it

best thing to do is just crawl under your tunnel and look for the rivets that are shinny or worn from rubbing and take the grinder to them and when you put your new track in lift the track into the tunnel without the skid and if there is clearance on all of them your good if not do a little more grinding

I wonder if my 2010 doesn't rub at times. I get a pretty good vibration at different times during the day. I haven't done any work on figuring out what is causing it. The track is not showing at obvious wear. I also shortened the lugs so I don't think it was that as it is still doing it.

the tracks are very tight on the side, so there is a very good chance it could be rubbing, is the 174 15 or 16 wide

No matter what track is installed it will rub on the tunnel because it has more side to side movement on the hyfax than it does in the tunnel . It rubs on the rear upper idler wheel brackets on the tunnel. The more aggressive the track the more side to side movement .

Hawkster is correct about the rubbing on the upper idler wheel brackets. Most guys never bother to look up there, but the paint is usually all worn off even with a stock track if it isn't perfectly centered.
